Frame Trap + Love and Respect by Easy Allies

Kinda Funny Gamecast is okay. Jared is a little off in his own world and doesn't seem to know how to involve others in a genuine way, he just goes on his own tangents for ages. I'm sure he'll improve though, super nice and knowledgeable guy

Giant Bomb... I tried but I am just not into snarkiness

That's just Jared Petty lol. Don't expect him to change. I love him but he's not for everyone. You can even hear his fellow podcasters start to get annoyed with him occasionally.

Lol, yeah that's the thing. You can tell Greg and Tim feel awkward and slightly irritated as he goes on.

Oh man you should've heard him on some of the IGN podcasts before he left (and still when he goes back and visits occasionally). The other hosts actually start just talking over and interrupting him, and even mocking him occasionally. It's kinda fucked up but they have a job to do.

He's great when he does solo podcasts though. I contribute to his Patreon for those.

Ive tried every single podcast mentioned so far. The best are:

1) Bombcast (the hate in this thread is SHOCKING), followed by Jeff and Ben's thing
2) Beastcast
3) 8-4 Play
4) Rebel FM
5) Player One Podcast
6) CAGcast
7) Retronauts

I subscribe to like 30 gaming podcasts but those are the ones I listen to every week.

I agree with this list. I listen to all those every week except I sometimes skip Retronauts if it's a topic I don't care about. I do listen to KFGD too though because I do too much driving and because Rebel FM has been very inconsistent lately with releasing episodes. Kinda Funny is actually pretty great now that shithead Colin is gone. Greg is a hell of a host.

I listen to:
- beastcast
- bombcast
- rebel fm
- 8-4 play
- Nintendo voice chat

Im also subscribed to waypoint but it can get a little up its own ass at times. Also due to time its become more of a filler podcast depending on topics of the episode.

The only ones I really listen to at release are 8-4 Play, Bombcast, Super Best Friendcast.
I still like the Beastcast and CAG Cast as well but I don't listen to them every week.

I've given up Easy Allies, Waypoint and Vidjagame Apocalypse due to fairly recent format changes

Giantbombcast and The Easy Allies podcast.

Beastcast if you like conversations being distracted by a bad joke every 2 to 3 minutes. Tangents!

I've tried out pretty much every popular gaming podcast. I have since narrowed by listening to the Game Informer Show and Retronauts.

Waypoint
Idle Weekend
Idle Thumbs

I like these because they feel more chill than a lot of the gaming podcasts I've listened to, which is pretty much every popular one.

Easy Allies is really fun, but my taste doesn't track with thiers all that well. Thier sister show Frame Trap is probably the better listen, but it's longer and less frequent.

8-4 Play has a great crew with good banter, has a Japanese bent, and some insider perspective. More recently they've had guests which is almoat always insightful and interesting.

Cane and Rinse is my go to for deep dives - full episodes dedicated to one title.

Waypoint is good journalism and critique, but the political lens exhausts me, so I tune in and out sporadically.

Outside of Giant Bombcast/Beastcast which I find great, I'm a fan of Retronauts. One of the few gaming podcasts that I can listen to any episode at any time and still find the discussion relevant.

These are the ones I listen to every week without fail.

GiantBomb's GiantBomb Cast
Game Informer Show
Easy Allies Podcast
Frame Trap

Also Colin Moriarty's new PS podcast called Sacred Symbols seems promising. I liked the first episode.

Edit: I forgot to mention Gamescoop & Podcast Unlocked.

At the moment my favourite by far is The Game Informer Show.

The first part is a discussion of recently released/upcoming games or large previews. There's a wide range of staff so the podcast is constantly rotating (and within episodes) so it brings in fresh faces and personalities. However the roster is not so wide that you are become unfamiliar with most of the staff. GI also have journalists who have been in the industry for 20 plus years and so you occasionally get great stories and perspective from them.

The emails section is very funny (loud out loud funny at times) and is pretty loose with its format.

The third part usually involves a developer interview, game club episode or audiobook game adventure.

For others (some of this list I listen on an regular basis):

- Beastcast
- DLC (occasionally but they usually have a more diverse range of guests than other podcasts)
- Games with Jobs (occasionally)
- Easy Allies Podcast (can be hit and miss for me sometimes)
- Kinda Funny Daily ( I like it when Jared, Gary or Andrea is on but I usually flick through the timestamps to see what conversations I want to listen to)
- Bombcast
- 8 -4 Play
- Idle Thumbs (when it eventually releases)
- Sometimes NVC or Game Scoop (Sam is very knowledgable about retro games)

Formerly:

- Cool Ghosts
- Videogamer Show

I also really enjoyed Danny's first episode of the Noclip podcast with the creator of SteamSpy. Very well produced and a unique topic to tackle.

I would love to try Waypoint Radio and Kotaku Splitscreen at some point.

I really enjoy Waypoint Radio. It can be goofy but tends to really dig into political/cultural critique which is something I enjoy. Also, if you like strategy games, Three Moves Ahead is fantastic.

what makes the beastcast better than the bombcast?
I wouldn't say one is better than the other, but I can explain why I personally prefer Beastcast over Bombcast:

It comes down to the personalities, and the tone of the podcast. I feel that I'm more endeared to and in tune with the personalities of the Beastcast, and the tone of it is more high-energy compared to the hosts of the Bombcast, which can feel tired. I don't know if that makes sense.

I've fallen out of love with many podcasts but the ones I'll occasionally load up are Kinda Funny, The GameInformer Show and What's Good Games (so refreshing to hear a bunch of girls talk about games).

I'd also recommend The Gamemaker's Notebook hosted by Ted Price, he interviews industry people about their games.

Bombcast > Beastcast, IMO. I love Vinny but don't care much for Abby. And Jeff just really ties the Bombcast together for me.

Cane and Rinse is a good one if you like people going back and discussing previous gen stuff. Not nearly as in depth as Retronauts can be but a bit more conversational about impact/impression.

It does and it's really a shame. Jeff and Ben can play off each other well sometimes but it's not often. The show is my favorites when it's Jeff, Jason and Peter Brown fully nerding out. You can hear the joy in Jeff when taking during those. I think Jan brings some character to it to balance out Ben and Jeff but he can't talk a ton.

I've tried listening to Easy Allies a few times, I find them a bit annoying and I don't know why. They seem to shout over each other a lot.

Game Scoop and NVC for me.

Here are my favorite. And one of the major things I like about these that, as a parent, there is little to no harsh language. I used to listen to KF and Giant Bomb but the language that gets thrown out is a little to much. It's just becoming tasteless to me (just my opinion though...some people like it and kudos to them...me not so much anymore. I tried to listen to KF through E3 this year...even subscribed using my twitch prime account...and between all the swearing and Sony Fanboyism, they are just not on the radar for me anymore.) With that being said...here are my favs...
- NintendoDads - they are biased for Nintendo obviously but give a fair shake towards the others and it's just some dads talking about Nintendo...perfect for a gaming dad!

- #xonebros - a bunch of guys talking about Xbox...again just some guys who grew up playing games still talking about and playing games

- Beyond - the current slate of IGN journalists are always great to listen to and are pretty fair in their discussions of all things PS

- The Game Informer Show - always been a GI fan

Enjoyed reading through everyone's responses...going to try out Easy Allies and Super Best Friendcast.

Easy Allies and What's Good Games are pretty decent. My only issue is the times when either spend too much time on "patreon plz" to where it becomes a full blown discussion.

Yeah, the last time I listened to What's Good they talked about a toothpaste sponsoring them for like, eight minutes. I'm here for videogames, man! Love those ladies though.

It's really hard to be Bombcast on Tuesday and Beastcast on Friday. Those are my mainstays and they I will rotate in some others from time to time. Often game specific.

Giant Beastcast for me, Jeff Bakalar is pretty great to listen to. I also enjoy the Giant Bombcast as well. Not a fan of EZA though.

Easy Allies are pretty good. Great balance between being goofy but also knowledgeable and passionate, and they can be pretty creative. No cynicism in sight. And they stay on topic and don't ramble about personal life which is super important to me.
