Man...
How do you not play Skyrim?
Want to go back 7 years? Remember this? The perfect marriage of a live action game commercial and a kick ass cover?

Watch that and tell me you don't want to boot the game up.

How have I never seen this?

I wonder how that kid named Dovahkiin by his parents to get free Bethesda games for life is doing.

Is it even possible for the next Elder Scrolls to beat Skyrim's lifetime sales?

7 years and I haven't bought a single copy of Skyrim yet. Maybe I should grab it on Steam next time it goes on sale...

I wish more games would be re-released like this. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo should be on every system.

I know it's hard to accept but good games are still good games and are worth paying for even if they are not the hottest new 4K HDR technical showpiece.

Todd Howard has been trying to be as honest as possible lately. I think it has something to do with FO4 backlash.

There honestly isn't that much of a backlash outside the usual vocal minority online.

The consumers that vote with their wallet speak louder:

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fallout-4-surpasses-skyrim-to-become-bethesdas-mos/1100-6447621/

Now I don't think FO4 is going to have Skyrim's legs, and probably isn't going to be rereleased 10 times, but that article was posted 15 months after FO4 came out. That game obviously crushed it.

I only bought it once.

I'd bought SE but I got that for free.

Best 40 bucks I ever spent Value/Time ration is obscene.

Yeah I was talking about the vocal minority online and the memes about him lying and stuff. Now he's trying to be as honest as possible.

I personally love FO4.

The SE with mods on pc holds up visually to The Witcher 3. The game that keeps on giving.

I mean I have a nice PC and I still haven't played Skyrim. I'm tempted every time it's on sale. He's right.

I never understood why the meme about "See that mountain? You can climb it " was treated like it was a lie. It was 100% the truth, and the meme about him lying was clearly from people who never played Skyrim.

There are many things wrong about both Skyrim and Fallout 4, but Todd didn't lie about any of its flaws.

Sure, the bit about sabotaging the wood mill was cut, but it was because it didn't make the game better. Same with Oblivion's Radiant AI that was removed because it isn't fun when the entire town died or get arrested for committing crimes.

If you create NPCs with the same decision making process as players, you end up with thieving murderous NPCs. Todd didn't lie about Radiant AI, he just made the decision to remove something that would otherwise wreck the simulation. Human players want to be in charge, they don't want the game to make decisions on its own that torpedo the game plans of the player.

Yep. Skyrim could have been the best example of good GaaS with a constant stream of high value DLCs.

THIS. If they kept going with the expansions, Skyrim could've been the peak RPG experience. I wonder what stopped them from doing so? System limitations? I'd imagine last-gen tech and storage limitations being a hindrance to the constantly growing experience, but even then, they could've expanded on the Special Edition with new content to adapt Skyrim into the GaaS era.

Hopefully TESVI follows up in this manner.
