New Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee! Trailer

Ok, so this game keeps looking better and better.
Other than you not having to fight/weaken Pokemon to catch them, what else is different from the main series?
This seems to be a remake of Blue/Red/Yellow but with those changes and some others, but is that the biggest?

Not having any sort of forward compatibility, so losing access to 656 Pokemon
The mechanical changes bringing in Go elements may not end up working well, but presentation-wise, I feel like this is exactly where they need to be. It looks great.
Basically I don't want the whole "Gotta have member in party have Cut/Strength/Flash if you want to use the HM" deal.
Since following pokemon and ridables so far have to be in your team... just need a simple confirmation they aren't going to require knowing the HMs aren't required.
IIRC it had to pass through those in HG/SS too. They're only there as barriers for the player essentially ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The way co-op works is still really upsetting me. It's like the one thing that actually made this interesting for me. I get that, maybe you have a young kid that doesn't play many games so you wanna hop in and help them, or maybe you have a boyfriend that's too cool for videogames but thinks magmar is a neat guy and wants to give this one a whirl so you walk him through the experience.
But there's no point to the co-op if your partner has played pokemon in the past or has half a brain because the advantage is insane. Like this is not just Pretty Easy. There's no way to enjoy it outside of seeing pretty colors. Pokemon gets a lotta flack for just boiling down to "use your strongest move" but there is truly no semblance of forethought when it's 2v1. I don't want to be down on this game but they're making it so hard at every turn.

Looks really interesting. I haven't cared about a Pokemon game in over a decade, so this interests me more than the one they're teasing for next year. Regardless, Nintendo is going to make a lot of money this Fall.
nghhhhSeems like they fixed the scale of Pokemon compared to SM. Onix actually looks huge next to Brock and Pikachu now.

I haven't been able to get through a Pokemon game since Leaf Green (usually lose interest about the halfway point) but this looks charming as fuck.

The bike road is supposed to be a huge man made bridge, the SS Anne goes under it, the GB graphics couldn't quite depict that.
Also note the map is depicting the in game rocks that serve as the maps barriers to top the player.
Its a given the game corner in celadon is being reworked but i cant think of how they would alter anything rocket further

Ok. So this hurts because I would absolutely love this game if they just did away with the crappy wild encounters. Bonus points if they changed two other things:
"Friendly Rival" (ugh)
The not-so-great change to the wild battle music which doesn't hold a candle to how it was in the originals
Other than that, everything I'm seeing looks like a great Kanto remake. Of course, there won't be any post game content most likely and any additional bells and whistles won't be there. But I guess I've just given up expecting anything but bare minimum from them because that's how they operate usually. And judged on that criteria, I would love these games if it weren't for mainly just the wild encounters. Ugh.
The rest of the music, not including the new wild battle theme, sounds outrageously good. I'm glad it's sounding more like the first season of the anime. Those tracks were on fire.

Seems like they fixed the scale of Pokemon compared to SM. Onix actually looks huge next to Brock and Pikachu now.
And yet Onix still has the same Attack stat as a Pidgey :p

Chibi/Super SD might have started due to technology limitations but they're a legit artstyle that japan enjoy (for some reason)
Same with cell shading
they only do bad things because they have no friends, you defeat them by befriending them
Cerulean Gym looks fucking AMAZING now like holy shit. I can't believe people are knocking on the world design.
I hope gyms come back from the 2019 games after seeing how unique and interesting the themes can be in HD. Love those murals and wall design! Lots of stuff about this game looks great.

I don't want a knock off Blue, I just don't think Pokemon does 'friendly' rivals well. I liked Cheren and Bianca, but the Gen 6 and 7 rivals were awful, especially Hau.

This looks fantastic. Pretty much the direction I was hoping for visually but I hope they push it more for next year's game.
Not nearly as chibi as some are making it out to seem. The bodies are more than twice the height of the head. If it was super chibi I would probably be annoyed but this is a great middle ground. You'll be able to see the characters faces and expressions without them looking completely deformed, haha

I know what chibi is, but i read long ago that many devs went with them, because of of small screens and low resolutions which isn't the case with the switch anymore.
It should stay true to the official art of the game imo

yeah but FRLG still had them. Gamecorner stopped being a thing in gen IV afaik. Since this is the first gen I remake after gen IV we'll see how they will change it now for the first time

ORAS' style suits the compact screen and experience of the mainline handheld games. It doesn't work so well as a full-fledged console title with inconsistent scaling and unflattering lighting, shading, and textures. The let's go games look more like the various fanmade "what if" projects than the big budget first party console titles we should expect.

Cerulean Gym is literally the only place shown so far that looks okay.
I would actually be 100% down with not just the Team Rocket trio, but all of the anime characters appearing in this game. That'd be a real nostalgia trip not just for people who played RBY but also for people who watched the anime. And it'd give the game more of an identity and reason to exist.

Like cut the crap. When not-Red saves Bill from a teleportation mishap, battles on the S.S. Anne, calms Marowak's angry ghost, stops Team Rocket from taking over Silph Co., etc, do you still think that's a "new character"?
Replacing the original rival, the first person you battle in the Kanto games and the inspiration for the rival in the original season of the anime, with a new one defeats the entire point of this being a nostalgia trip.
You take that back! Hau was awesome, he was the first "friend" rival that actually felt like he was your bro and not some tacked on kid for you to beat up.
