Many major publications, the CEO of Ubisoft, so many Reddit threads to count in the Horizon subreddit all observed the same well worn AC type familiarity. Many Horizon Dawn fanatics have said implicitly that it brought back the magic they felt when they were playing AC2. My opinion isn't wrong it is just different than yours. All I said is the game wasn't revolutionary, a remix. I enjoyed it. I am not going to let myself be digitally bullied by hype sippers. It's one of your GOTY. AWESOME! Keep enjoying it. I hear DLC just came out with more of the same Ubisoft Open world gameplay you seem to love with the fiery passion of a god. Have fun.

What in god's name are you talking about on the horizon sub? There are very few comparisons made to AC made on my sub.

Optimus: Played both. Enjoyed both. Do you read people's post or do you just respond with blind zealotry before you respond? You acting like I'm from a planet for having different feelings than you about a silly fun game "Just.........what?" is patronizing/condescending it isn't a legitimate rebuke. I feel that you should grow up or work on your forum game.
"Not a legitimate rebuke" and "patronizing/condescending" sure describes your posts.

It feels like you're trolling, anyhow. Whichever it is -- please stop.

Started this last night, holy shit it looks even better than before! The snow effects are amazing and love them especially when night time comes. Took me a while to get back into the combat but got the hang of it again. Some of these new machines are much tougher, so been playing the stealth game alot more.

The new weapons are really fun to use as well. The flamethrower thing rips through em.

Is it possible to raise difficulty in New Game+? I started it on very hard and am finding it extremely easy but the difficulty option is greyed out. (base game right now btw)

From Very Hard you can only change it to easier settings, otherwise people could change it to UH at the last mission to cheese the NG+Trophy.

Game is nothing like Assassin's Creed.

Anyone who says that hasn't played either game.

Open world with stealth? Oh, it's like Assassin's Creed.

What Assassin's Creed game has combat like Horizon?

Wrapped up the dlc tonight and it was every bit as glorious as I remembered it back when I finished the base game at launch. Guerilla has really created an amazing world here and the inevitable sequel can't get here soon enough.

Just started this.

Holy shit that snow tech is awesome. It was so jarring in the main game walking through snow didn't do anything.

Facial animations are a lot better! Can see subtle movements of emotion.

To say Horizon has boring gameplay is disrespectful. The exploration may be the weakest part of the game, but combat and controls are by FAR the best in an open world ARPG.
When reading such posts, please don't forget to give us insight on wich open world games you don't find boring and superior from a gameplay standpoint, just to clarify wich standards you find fun enough.

With all due respect, and I'm not trolling I was consistently and reasonably polite. I have a different opinion then some people here and this debate started because I agreed with another user Visvim. Sorry if you take that as trolling or looking to get a rise. I stated multiple times I enjoyed the game and wasn't looking to be provocative but add to the conversation/dialogue but that wasn't enough for some people. Check any of my previous posts before this on other topics, no trolling history whatsoever. You are the moderator, I get it, so feel free to ban me but that isn't fair summation of the entire conversation.

I don't want to double post but I think that is completely fair and I applogize. I misspoke and mean many other forums I've read(which is true) and people on the Horizon subreddit. I should have characterized it as many/a lot and I can admit when I speak incorrectly.

You not backing up why it's a AC clone and completely dismissing anyone who gives reasons it's not, comes across as trolling. Not having a different opinion.

I did do an EDIT and clarified that it would have been better said if I wrote is very similar to the general Ubisoft Open World template, really similar to me. It's exactly a different opinion. A lot of people just don't like my opinion and haven't backed up that opinion with anything other than videos and "your wrong" or suggestions that I didn't play the game but I'm the one who gets singled out. Here are just a few of my problems with the game and things I found similair to Ubisoft games.
  • Towers/tall-neck mechanic (only like 5-6 if i remember so less of it but similar feeling made very popular by Ubi)
  • I didn't have any fun with the human enemies. They weren't exciting. The robot dinos were cool looking and the destruction but ended at cool
  • Movement felt a lot AC to me but not bad. Again similar.
  • Overthrowing Camps felt like Far Cry and I didn't really enjoy those in HZD
I will say I appreciate how the game wasn't overstuffed with fluff or like one long slog of a list that AC and others have become and HZD was much better at meting out content at a manageable clip.I can compliment how it felt more handcrafted which I always appreciate

Maybe "Clone" was hyperbolic but that's how I kind of felt. I enjoyed it but my mind wasn't blown which I've said, a lot. That's about it. I finished it but toward the end I was bored looking passed the gloss it seems a tad redundant. Maybe it was a game that just wasn't my cup of tea. Which is okay. I'll leave it at that an exit the thread.

I don't think many would argue with it's having some stuff in common with Ubi's open world games (pretty much every modern open world game does) but besides the towers, camps and hunting animals for upgrades (non of which are big focus of Horizon) the things they have in common they share with so many others and the combat is so vastly different (as is the story and world) that calling it a Ubisoft clone is just never really seemed like much of a criticism. You can put it at so many other open world games and then vaguely list the few things it'll have in common as reasons why.

I'd be shocked if anyone argued Horizon's human combat was good though, it was terrible for the most part, can definitely see that being more than enough to turn someone off it. But the machine combat more than made up for it for me, it's the most fun combat I've played since Dragon' Dogma, just never got old for me, even after dozens of hours.

The closest game I can compare Horizon to would be MGSV. Spectacular game engine, sublime controls, excellent combat with lots of opportunities for strategy, open world with admittedly not a lot to do between towns/bases. Fast travel, different weapon tiers etc...

AC games before Origins had trash tier combat but their strength was how amazing their open world historical settings were to explore. So basically the exact opposite of what's good about Horizon.

This is a more reasonable post and I can understand your POV. But since combat is a big factor in action games for me, Horizon does enough different and very well, that it makes the overall experience much more unique than just another open world, hack n slash action adventure game or even shooter game.

I stayed up all night to finish the final quest, and wow, what an amazing ride. If I were doing it over again though I wouldn't play it on ultra hard. It really kicked my ass, and trying to save up enough shards and resources is a real chore. I only managed to get enough to buy one bow and one outfit. But I do love all the new weapons and outfits. The Adept Nora Silent Hunter is so cool.

That's the fun thing about opinions about games/art Optimus: People are entitled to their own opinions. And yeah, TO ME, it is a nice looking Assasin's Creed Clone. I said I liked it what do you want from me?

And "can't even justify that post with a response" but you responded. Ah huh... but I'll do you a favor and not suggest to you Ruthless that a person with a HZD avatar might just be... I don't know... biased?

EDIT: Maybe UBISOFT Open world formula yadda yadda game would have been a better descriptor.

Hell yeah man, I know what you mean!

So just to state my opinion on this, I believe that Horizon Zero Dawn is clearly a blatant copy of Forza Horizon... I mean they didnt even bother with the title ffs...but all these fanboys wont even admit it...sad really.

I really want to play this but simply can't yet as I'm playing AC:O
I just wouldn't be able to juggle two games with similar but different controls and gameplay and get engrossed in either. It would be confusing and broken up too much. I'm deffo gonna play it after I plat ACO which won't be for another few weeks at least.

Horizon has obvious influences from a number of games, including (but not limited to) Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Skyrim, Monster Hunter, Uncharted and Witcher 3. To focus on just a few aspects of the game and try to paint it as one specific thing is pure nonsense and some of the shittier trolling that's surrounded the game.

Anyway, I finally started Frozen Wilds earlier tonight, put a couple of hours in and love it. Waterlogged is the kind of side quest I really want to see a lot more of in the sequel.

I can totally see it. Both open world, both have this focus on nature and machines. So many other similarities. They're pretty much the same game.

Man, I keep paralyzing myself here - I'm so uncertain about when the best time to start the Frozen Wilds content is (doing a NG+ here). I feel like I want Aloy to know a little bit more context for the world so her dialogue will be better/more informed, but I don't want to play all the way right up to the end. I'm thinking maybe I should wait until she finds out about Project Zero Dawn, *then* start it? Would it be weird to go in much earlier than that?

For context, she's in the part of the story where she's about to go to the Faro building.

IMO the best time to fit this in the main story is right before starting the final mission, after Gaia Prime Mission.

I finished this DLC last night and for me it really has solidified this game as one of the best I've ever played. I went back and visited some old areas on the map and was just astounded at how much of the world there is, and how consistently polished and amazing the entire game is over 65 hours. The tech used in this game is unreal, every developer should be looking at it. I greedily want a Horizon 2 ASAP.

At the end of Frozen Wilds you get to ask someone a bunch of questions including stuff about the main game, but the way it's set up you should be able to return to FW at any time to ask more questions as you learn more in the main game. By doing it earlier you'd maybe miss out on some minor bits of dialog along the way.

First thing I think about when I see this is Assassin's Creed.

Lol so confused by the AC comparisons. I played the first two games and never touched the series again. I'm sure things have since improved, and, admittedly, the most recent entry looks somewhat interesting.

Anyway, this has probably been asked before, and the answer is probably no but just in case: Is it possible to replay only the final quest on a harder difficulty to unlock the face paints or do you need to beat the entire game?

Also, has anyone encountered the bug where the day/night cycle gets stuck and time controls become unavailable? This happened to me the other day. I had to replay The Looming Shadow (and the quest that comes after) in order to resolve the issue. According to reddit, this is a temporarily fix but GG is aware. Hopefully the next patch address the issue.

I've really enjoyed the DLC, and I felt like I'd finished it, then a mission popped up to kill five things. Seems like some tedious bullshit to me. Is it some post-game clean up filler quest, or is it worth doing? Is there more after it?

Yes it is, killing the last 5 fireclaws is incredibly challenging (specially because they aren't alone) and its the last quest. Should be a pretty fitting send off to a fantastic DLC/game

Thank you. Doesn't sound like it's for me, though.

DLC was great, kind of wish I'd have held off a few weeks, made it a Xmas game for myself, but yeah, really fun.

I think that's in reference to the main game, considering that The Frozen Wilds takes place during the main game and not after it. Hope this helps...so yes, once return to the main storyline.

So I played after the patch and my day/night cycle wasn't fixed and I was rather bummed. I fucked around a bit and did some hunting grounds quests and other side-quests (like the one to upgrade the special weapons) and... at some point I noticed it was fixed! Weird. I have no idea what I did that triggered the daytime cycle to come back, or if the patch had anything to do with it, but I'm glad it did.
