Boku no Hero Academia S3 - 18

Mineta was…surprisingly useful in that battle for the last spots?

Boku no Hero Academia S3 - 19

Haha, having the rescuees themselves ruthlessly judging the heroes on their every move adds a fun element to this stage of the exam. Though with "villains" showing up on the scene, the time for such lighthearted antics may be over…

Too bad it looks like next week is some kind of special filler episode. Ah well, I guess that could be fun in its own way.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders 21-22

I feel lied to lmao. I can't believe they really did a fake out death like this, I'm actually impressed. Well I guess it's good to have him back?

Attack on Titan S3 - 4

It's fairly satisfying watching the rebel protagonists gather allies to their cause, even as the odds are stacked against them.

Attack on Titan S3 - 5

And there we have it - one beautifully executed coup d'etat. Now we can move on to the more fun part of this arc.

Disenchantment 1-2

It's just kinda boring and slow. I feel like these two episodes could have been combined into one decent one, but I don't think that would make me interested in where the show could go from here.

I will say I think the voice acting does sell more C material than you would think, but it still doesn't make me wanna watch more.

i've seen it all, it pretty much keeps this quality you see here throughout the rest of the show as far as writing and comedy goes. Season 2 looks more promising plot wise though.

Happy Sugar Life is an exercise on how many fucked up characters the show can produce.

Nagisa episode yey.

Really good episode. I liked how they didn't make coach just comically evil strict coach but also gave him a change in character at the end.

Curious where this will end. Seems like a whole Nationals tournament would be too much for 4 episodes as the next will be Nagisa vs Ayano probably, not to mention there aren't any characters that have not been introduced and you would assume the Nationals will have some other strong players.

Alright, this episode is way better than previous. The beetle, fart, blackmails, and
MGS reference
at post-credit were amazing, though.

Attack on Titan S3 - 5

As I was told that government arc was ended in this episode (At last!) and i feel so relief so I can finally watch more action next week. Tbh, I was almost reluctant to drop this anime because of that, haha.

Another great episode. I loved how they recontextualized the Sirius destruction, not only into a more interesting moral dilemma but also using that recontextualization as the driving force for the second half of the show. Visually this was an ugly episode but I don't really expect anything from JC Staff at this point, goddamnit.

Initial D Second Stage - END

A step down from the first one in every way possible. Plot, music, artstyle. They even upped the car sounds to drown out the music. Unforgivable.

Speaking of which, what's the reason we should think the coach picked Nozomi instead of Nagisa (presuming that they won't revisit this later)? I figured it was because former would be more malleable in terms of his instructions instead of Nagisa.

Aikatsu Friends 19

So the message of the story is always stay connected to Twitter even when you need some serious training? Eh, I don't know about that. Sometimes need to really focus in their training for special events, and it's not like they don't know their fans are cheering them on. Another part of Friends being too simple and saccharine for its own good. At least the moon twins still look mildly interesting.

Given how the animators like making the characters sweat to show how intense the match is. Showing them sweaty in the sun at the beach doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility. Would probably be a blu ray extra though

Yeah also my take away. Nozomi was a good player who the coach could instruct and make her play how he wanted while Nagisa would have always played how she wanted.

Chio's School Road 7 - Opening sketch started off strong, but it then fell back into where it was before. I'm out.

Asobi Asobase 7 - The Phantom Thieves sketch was funny, and so was the ever welcome return of the puppets. Though a much better episode than the previous ones, it feels like a lot of its jokes are wearing thin.
Hanako screaming and being batshit crazy was hilarious in episodes 2-4, because you slowly started to realize that school life and wanting to be popular has done her in. Now it's just kind of annoying. It's all she does almost.
They need to just take a step back and make the show simple and work for the laughs.
Maybe make the show about pasttimes again. The girls being weird girls was good enough, and throwing them into an otherwise mundane situation would make things funny. They don't need a funny situation.

Shirobako- So after y'all suggested it last season, my fiance and I have finished it, and boy this show was great. It's probably one of both of our favorites of all time now. Great ending.
I got the feeling towards the last few episodes that the studio just really wanted to have some fun, and so they made some over the top scenes.
The baseball scene is definitely the animators having some fun, along with the Street Fighter one.
I think overall that this show is a love letter to making anime from people who do it, and watching the show with that in mind changes how you see it. Most shows aren't about things that the people who make the show actually do. Seeing a prominent anime studio comment on the "average" anime studio is interesting for that alone.
Having lovable characters, great music, and more mature writing helps.
So it's also just a good show on trying to find what to do with your life post-college.

I've Always Loved You- Y'all suggested this too after I watched 10 Centimeters Apart, and I liked these characters. Like 10cm, I still feel like the show/short/film could have been a little better if they had just had slightly better writing, and not reused too many ideas.
Still, we liked it, and thought it was cute.
I'm sure the creators loved being able to reuse the same character designs and story for 3 separate projects.

Aggretsuko 1-4
Sanrio makes some lovable designs still. I like this show a lot. I saw a trailer for season 2 in English, and was shocked to see that Netflix is advertising it that way. The show has it's fingers on the pulse of the Japanese work world right now, especially for the Heisei generation.

I didn't have time to watch the new Hanebado, so I'll check that out tonight.

Seriously, where does the old guy get off being such a damn badass? Was he a shonen protagonist in his youth or something? XD

Fuck the kid's mother, though. What a massive bitch. Jeez.

And on the subject of massive bitches, Ai, I hope you'll forgive me if I don't entirely buy your "Machi is really just a kind sweet girl deep down" spiel after we watched her suck the life out of your roommate last episode.

Orihime and Hikoboshi seems to be this summers theme in anime, wow.

Daru was amazing, really the true star this season. Im going to miss a repressed and more muted Okabe, epic episode.

So any spoilers on why outer space is a cobalt blue in mid to late episodes, or is it just a cost saving thing?
The irrationality of space just being blue is oddly irksome.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 23-29

I was wondering what the Stand users would represent after they went through the Tarot cards. I guess the Egyptian gods makes sense. Iggy is a fun dog. The Anubis Stand was really good, got some more straightforward and fantastic fights with that one. Also the new ending song is great, opening is worse.

Little detail to point out, that wasn't mentioned in this article, is how Tōkyō-based GAINAX studio branch (as posted about before, what was at the time nascent subsidiary of and not Fukushima GAiNAX proper) did the animation production duties for the Piano no Mori project by itself.

In fact, rather than moving into totally new headquarters on Tōkyō, what is now GAINA Co., Ltd. doing is transferring main office into the previously established facilities of GAINAX studio, effectively sharing the newly founded company the registered legal address with the old disclosed one of former GAINAX studio.

Oh man, I started watching the new Eureka 7 movie (Koukyoushihen Seven Hi-Evolution 1)
WTF is this? Flash forward, flashback, flash forward, flashback, everyone looks different, the presentation is a mess, WTF were they even trying to do with this movie? 40 min in and I'm not sure I can even finish this....

So sad to see what they have done with one of my favorite anime.

Okay I ignored it for long, but it seems like like with AO I should skip it. Please Eureka die.

Sooo I wanna get into the Monogatari series but from what I understand it's not all legally available for streaming yes in the US yes? The release order is Bakemonogatari which has several episodes missing in the tail end. Then Nisemonogatari and something called Nekomonogatari Black afterwords which you can't stream. Not sure what the next part is called but then there is Hanamonogatari as the last released serirs. Am I missing anything? Also I've watched Katanagatari which I enjoyed but absolutely loved the final episode. Itself being kinda wordy and I kinda ready for this series or do I just not know what I'm messing with yet?

I think most if not all of the series should be available for official US streaming? The final three episodes of Bakemonogatari have always been the trickiest part, but I seem to remember they were on Anime Strike when that was a thing, so maybe they're still available on Amazon Prime? (Can't really check myself because I'm not in the US.)

The one part of the series you're definitely not going to have any luck finding on streaming services is the Kizumonogatari movies (which are fantastic, and can be watched at almost any point, though personally I'd strongly recommend watching them immediately after Bake, the same point that they appear in the source novels' publishing order).

Cinderella Girls Gekijou S3 - 8

"Tamaya" is now obsolete. From now on all fireworks must legally be accompanied by a cry of "MI~~~~RIA~~~~".
