So does anyone have The Art of MGS V from Dark Horse? What's it like?

Not a single commentary. Sometimes Japanese notes on the art itself but not translated. Nice shinkawa art, lots of iconography, all weapons and vehicules if you are into it.

It's also containing an entire chapter on the canceled third act, kingdom of flies so its more or less up to you to decide if it's mandatory along the game to have the complete package or if it's too hard to see what the game is missing and it will break your heart to see this amazing third act we never got to play.

To me, its worth it for Shinkawa artworks alone.

I hope Amazon does the $10 book sale this year. I've had the Fire Emblem: Awakening artbook sitting in my saved for later since last year (ended up getting something else).

Not sure if this is jumping the gun too much considering the only place I see it right now is Amazon.co.jp, but for any SEGA fans, the classic Phantasy Star artbook from 1995 is getting a reprint.

Ohh well. Ordered The Art of the Ghost in the Shell (scarjo movie) for 34$ using the code. It's been on the wish list for a while and I feel like the price has only gone up lately.

Nice collection. I'd like to take a picture of my collection too, but I don't have enough space, so they are kinda scattered. Some are on shelf A, some on shelf B, some are in a box.....
I'm moving early next year... so I hope I will have more space to put them nicely.

I'll have my jp edition tomorrow. will do a comparaison.

Where do you usually import your japanese artbook? amazon jp?

I've been blessed with my parents living in japan this year. I've been, I'm going back, they are making monthly trip back, so... they are my personal shoppers lol Expect comparaison pics in a couple of hours.

Barnes and Noble has 20% your online order until 11/26. Code is GIVETHANKS. 25% off one item in-store. LEGO excluded, no surprise there.

Fair warning, Barnes and Noble shipping can be somewhat iffy.

Picking up a copy of the Spectrum Art annual and maybe a D&D book. Not sure which yet.

How much did you end up paying overall? Right now it's $24.19 on amazon for hardcover. Barns and Noble is showing $28.14. If you did the coupon and paid shipping on B&N it may not bet the better deal.

That's a nice collection, how are the DOD3 books? I've thought about getting them.

Also how are the Space Patrol Luluco and Kill la Kill books? Most anime artbooks in my experience have too much of what was in the show and not enough concepts/early art or even illustrations; I think the only anime artbook I was ever happy with was the Katanagatari one.

Persona 5 artbooks comparaison ! JP (Enter Brains) vs US (Prima) match !

nguq3jp93siw.jpg

It's 510 pages vs 448, yes the US version is missing about 60 pages. It's missing some pages about iconography, the story boards of the opening, the interview with Soejima. Its a bit sad to see some missing content, but it's nothing essential imho.

0e3uj6gy3sb2.png

The paper in the Prima (US) edition is a bit more glossy. I like the japanese one better, its a bit more matte.

I like the japanese edition better but its very much for tiny details (cover art, side art, paper grain) your main decision should be : do you understand japanese ? The commentary with the artwork is the best part of this book so don't miss out if you cant read japanese.

If you have the US edition, there is not much reasons to import the jp one.

Off topic question, but... how come you just have either even or odd numbered volumes of each manga series?

Lol, Front and back stacked to save space, there is a second row of Manga BEHIND the ones you have see on the picture, so Vol 2 is behind Vol 1, Vol 4 is behind Vol 3

of the Even Numbers it just a matter of series that ended in Un even numbers next to other series so that butchers the count, but same principle as the other Vol 5 is behind vol 4, etc

That animators reference is awesome, I'm curious about those LWA artbooks too...
Which of those are your favorite or standouts?

The Legend of Zelda Arts and Artifacts on Amazon for $16.54 lighting deal. Use code GIFTBOOK17 for 5$ off that.

50% claimed so far with about 4 hours left. Too bad I think someone already got me this on my wish list for Christmas.

Thanks for the heads up.

AND HEY! while ordering that I found out that amazon did eventually give me that free $50 book deal from way back with audible. I wasn't even one of the people who bothered their support line for help, not to mention I canceled audible within days of signing up, so anyone who signed up for audible but didn't get the deal should check again to see if they got the code (I couldn't see it until I was in the checkout).

Any art posters or the like on sale anywhere? I would love some Dark Souls art, but the Cook and Becker are insanely expensive and hasn't even gone on sale.

the LWA were bundled with the 100$ backers edition from the Kickstarters, tho they are in Japanese (like most of the artbooks) they come with a booklet with all the translations. an smart work around to only having to print 1 set of book but also deliver all the proper translation to teh backers
the LWA 1 is a guide book coupled with keyframes and animators references and sketches
the LWA 2 is 2 booklets format, 1 with keyframes from the movie and 1 with clean imagery of the background used for the Movie

Which of those are your favorite or standouts?
out of what? anime ones, manga ones, all?

I've never bought an art book in my life*. I'm tempted by the Zelda ones, especially the NES cart one. Are all 3 worth it, or should I get only one? Keep in mind that I'd be importing them from another continent, so shipping costs are a concern.

Didn't know there was a Remember Me art book, I'll have to look into that one. It's a shame the Life Is Strange book hasn't been released on its own, because the Limited Edition is hard to find (or at least, get it shipped here). And now I need those Journey and MGS ones too! This thread is gonna ruin me...

* I currently have the Inside Out art book in transit from Amazon UK, my first art book ever, but it's not gaming-related and it hasn't arrived yet (shipped today, in fact), so I'm not counting it.

Used the $5 code for the Persona 5 art book even though I didn't play it yet!
Seems like a lot of prices have gone up.

Any other decent BF deals?
I saw Right Stuf Anime selling the overwatch art book for $26
They also have Asura's wrath complete works for $20 (Oos but more coming)

People might be interested that I noticed Amazon is selling Udon's Persona 4 Artbook again, it's full MSRP but looks like it did indeed get a reprint.

Similarly in one hour on focus attack (12pm EST) all udon artbooks are 50% off, lot of their good stuff isn't there, but still some good deals.

Wow thanks! Now to hope and pray it doesn't sell out until I get paid Friday.

I was totally in for P3 Design Works on Focus Attack but those shipping prices... I'll pass for now I'm afraid.
