Im watching cause I love getting different people and perspectives on the podcast, helps she seems like a down to earth and decent human being based on the morning show, but hey judge away I guess.

Wow, she's a human being ffs. You seriously passing her off as just a "porn star"...

How about you do some research? She's so chill.

I hope you're not as ignorant as your post makes you come across.
If she doesn't talk about her experiences in pornography I'll be fine with it but, and yes this is odd, I don't ethically support professional pornography and I don't want to hear about it.

I'm sure she is a wonderful person but I'm not interested in hearing about that part of her life.

Well they don't talk about it at all, so you're fine (on the Morning Show at least). I don't know what the GoG show topics are.

She doesn't talk about it at all on GoG either. It was three short months of her life and she doesn't want to be known by it. So you can stop the gross moralizing.

The show wasn't bad till the reading the tips and donations part when someone asked her about the sexual harassment in Hollywood and she said "we shouldn't touch national treasures like Kevin Spacey". It was said in a way that was too ambiguous to tell if she was joking or not, but it sounded enough like a serious comment to sour the whole thing. Nick kind of took over shortly there after and nervously got past it and moved on.

Interesting day for sure to just randomly fire up the stream, I don't tune in that much anymore.

I will always appreciate Kinda Funny because they have gotten me through some dark times. There was a time when their content would consistently make me laugh, and to this day some of their best work (Greg's cancer panel) is incredibly powerful. I have felt a bit burnt out on their stuff lately. I was wondering if it was just me who felt this way or if anyone else did as well? Maybe I should just take a break from them for a while.

Some of the things that I've noticed recently.
  • I'm not vibing with Nick like I used to. His stand up bit at KF live really made me uncomfortable.
  • The time codes lead me to skip around a lot, and spend less time watching KFGD overall.
  • I usually find myself frustrated with Andrea's opinions, especially surrounding GOTY and Nintendo.
  • I loved Andy's humor at first, but I feel like he interrupts discussion a lot to make one-liner jokes.
One of the aspects that does keep me coming back is Greg Miller, especially when he has a guest host on KFGD. Janina Gavankar was outstanding and I'm excited for Mia Khalifa.

Sometimes if you spend a lot of time with someone you need to take a break from them for a while. There's nothing wrong with that. I have some months where I listen to KFGD every day and some months where I maybe only listen to one podcast of theirs.

Right now I'm super into what they're doing though.

Thanks sabrina. That's probably the case. Kinda Funny has been part of my daily routine for a while now. I think I will try take a week off (it's Thanksgiving anyway) and come back.

I will say, I had never been more excited than when they rolled out their new content lineup earlier this year. So much of what I love about what they do is still there.

I took a break from KF for months last year and did wonders when I came back. They have a lot of content so getting burned out is normal.

Nothing. She even mentioned at the end of KFGD today that she was going to go play more Mario Odyssey. She just doesn't pretend they're without flaw like some people would like to believe.
Which is something I really respect about her. It gets kind of annoying when everyone is saying BoTW/Odyssey is some holy grail sent down by the gods but then she gives them a reality check.

It's not just that she has not beaten Zelda, or barely played Mario or Splatoon 2. Today she said she had never played an Animal Crossing, because she didn't like the art style, and thinks AC Pocket Camp will die off quickly, like Miitomo. It's not a Switch thing. She just comes off like she only plays Nintendo games so she can "be part of the conversation" and say they're meh.

I do feel a contrarian streak to her Nintendo coverage sometimes. Hoping that taking a break will help me get back into KFGD. As a Nintendo fan it has been a very emotional and cathartic year. We have been down for so long that we want to celebrate for once. Maybe we are taking too personally the criticisms. It certainly looks like some of the YouTube comments are like that. But I agree it's not just a Switch thing. Even Tim isn't a fan of every Nintendo franchise like Xenoblade or Splatoon, but I never feel like he is actively putting them down.

BOTW definitely has some notable flaws, but the only true problem I could see with Odyssey is the motion controls. It doesn't do anything to necessarily push the genre in some new direction, but I would say it is one of the best 3D platformers ever made.

That's a perfectly fine opinion to have, and it's an opinion an awful lot of people have. But it's not the opinion everyone has, and that's okay too.

I wish they were doing a Games Daily today, I would love reactions to Belgium and Hawaii with lootboxes and EA.

I'll never get tired of the way Kevin says "A Baker's Dozen". I look forward to it in every ep. Makes me laugh.

My favorite was when he like, "that's not very many at all!"

Damn show makes me looking like an idiot laughing in public far too often haha. I'm pretty sure my roomies have caught me doing the jingles too...

Greg voiced Howard the Duck, Nick was Spider-Ham, Tim was Throg, and Kevin was The Tinkerer

Honestly I'm sort of over hearing them talk about this tbh. Someone asked Greg if he was out of touch with consumers and he said he wasn't but him and Andrea especially are pretty much the poster kids for defending anti consumer microtransactions. Like Greg even stated he didn't believe BF2's loot box system was designed in an insidious way. Thats just absurd to me.

After a brief break I am already enjoying the content more. It's hard to stay away, but I am going to continue to skip KFGD for a little while. The Gamescast today (I watch on Youtube) really hit the spot for me, though! I think it's hugely improved from the original format, and I love the dynamic when Tim and Greg are on together. The gaming history segment and this week's topic of the show were fun listens.

Regarding KFGD, although I haven't watched the episode, I really appreciate KF's ability to attract relevant guests considering the high frequency nature of the show. This is one area where Kinda Funny separates itself from other content producers in my opinion. They have genuine relationships with industry contacts and some of those interactions are the most interesting and fun to watch.

I don't agree with what you said about Greg and Andrea, but good lord am I fucking sick of discussions about lootboxes and microtransactions. It's soooooooo boring at this point. I don't think anybody on the internet can say anything original about the situation now because it has been done to death. It's just rehashing the same talking points over and over again. Considering what time of year it is there are about a million things I'd rather hear them discuss.

Yeah but like... you can't give up on talking about them because then the outrage will die down... and then the microtransactions will win, or something.
