In the Pyramidion nightfall, is there any reasonable way to approach the last phase of the Brakion boss fight? It always just devolves into chaos and "revive, grenade, rocket, die, repeat". I've finished it multiple times including prestige, but that last section is just always a shit-show, and it seems like there should be some kind of strategy to do it without dying.

Take cover, shoot him till his head blows off, then unleash supers on him. That last part is pure chaos.

How far into it until you hit chaos? I'm going to guess final damage phase, but I'll start at the beginning.

There are many different approaches, but I've had plenty of success with this strategy.

tldr; Kill all the adds then damage the boss. The only exception is when the boss loses its head. When that happens let it come to your group then use supers, heavies and grenades to finish him off.

As soon as you drop down assign rings (left and right) to everybody. Everyone stands in the first ring to start the encounter. Damage the boss when possible, but the person or persons that plan to activate the left ring need to be moving in that direction before the boss teleports. After the boss teleports you can throw a grenade at it before the shield goes up. Then everyone throws grenades to the left side then to the right side where the enemies spawn. When the boss shields go down the first time the left side team should again already be in position to start activating the next left side ring. This saves time. Once the left ring is activated a second time everyone meets at the second right ring.

This right ring is going to be your home for a bit. Warlocks should drop rifts and Titans should set up shields. Hunters should stand around evaluating their poor class choice. The boss will first teleport to its right (your left.) After doing enough damage adds will spawn. Throwing grenades at adds is a good idea to keep their numbers down. You can easily do this while avoiding boss damage thanks to cover and subclass abilities. After the adds are dead damage the boss. You can do both at the same time just try to keep add numbers manageable. As soon as cover disappears move up the steps to your right for the next bit of cover.* Again kill all the adds from here. You should still be in a tight group. Adds will move up the steps to get you which makes them very vulnerable to grenades. You should have enough time to always be killing adds. The only exception is when the boss loses its head. When the boss loses its head it will go ultra-aggro. Let it come to you and as soon as it is in stomp range everyone should dump heavies, activate supers, and throw every grenade available at the boss. The combined firepower should melt his last bit of health.

I'm a few beers in so if I missed anything let me know. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
-Edit 1: I already see one thing I forgot. If everyone is dead don't revive one at a time unless you are confident you can revive everyone else. There are so many adds that they will absolutely melt you if you spawn one at a time. Wait until everyone's timer is up then spawn together.

Anyone that needs help on PS4 hit me up. Approaching 80 clears.

*Giant Asterisk: I have played this mission many times and I still don't quite understand cover behavior. Sometimes it doesn't activate when it normally does.

That's weird, why would Luke Smith and Mark Knowsworthy need to come on stream to address issues? People seem perfectly content with Destiny 2 at 60 hours, playing an hour a day. How odd, you would think there are larger issues that people still have with Destiny 2.
It appears that they're using DLC/Seasonal change to do the major Balance/Economy/Investment/QoL updates as well.

Just started the game on Xbox One and made it to the Farm. Playing as Warlock and this is my first experience with Destiny. I've played thousands of hours of Diablo 3 and enjoy Halo so figured, why not?!

In light of the upcoming balance changes, should I hold off on proceeding until after the update?

Wasn't planning on picking up the season pass until a sale.

Also, is there a Clan I can join here?

Nah you'll probably still be in the early pre-endgame loop of the game when the Season 2 changes come around.

Don't worry about it, whatever changes are made are going to be for those who are max level in the game, until you get to 50 hours or so you aren't going to be seeing the issues. Everyone loved the game for the first two weeks.

Edit: also join up to the discord (info in OP). The Xbox community is small and in hibernation right now but people will be back in December 5 when the DLC and endgame changes launch.

Edit: rather than double post I figured I'd share this here. More info on the XP issue from reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyThe..._is_what_was_really_going_on_with_xp_in_some/ :
Meditations didn't count as a "Longer Duration Activity", as no XP upscaling appeared to occur

An upscaling factor did apply to some XP earned in the Leviathan Raid. In many encounters it was countered or overwhelmed by the downscaling factors, leading to a slight XP loss in my test.

Overall, the Raid suffered from only a minor downscaling to earned XP.

Now that all XP is being earned at a rate of 50% what is displayed in game due to the scaling being disabled, I think that means raid XP takes a hit. But apparently not much XP was earned in raids anyway (although I have earned several bright engrams while raiding. I remember because the animation annoyed me due to happening while I was in heavy combat!)

Dumb how seasons pass + game is on sale but not just seasons pass for PC...it came out like a month ago so we get hosed if we bought day one.

I can't believe the first content drop is only a couple weeks out.

I'm anxious to see the QoL improvements and I'm optimistic about the next six months for D2. I dislike many of the changes (cool downs, vendor levels being removed in game, duplicates galore), but Bungie has listened and has made changes in the past.

Having three 305 dudes, I'm playing other games now... It just feels weird because, by the end of D1, I figured I'd be grinding D2 every day, all day.

Bungie's philosophy has been, it seems, less to keep people playing and more to keep people coming back when there's more to do. And it definitely seems like they're realizing quickly that that's not the way the Destiny community wants to play their game. It's a blessing... because so many people are so passionate about their game... And a curse, because those same people are still just mad at them.

I certainly didn't expect to see systems changes so soon and I don't think Bungie expected to be doing that as well. I'm glad we'll be hearing about some economy changes next week and then the list Chris Barry highlighted a couple of weeks ago signals that they know where changes need to be made down the line. For my current gaming lifestyle, where I don't have a lot of time and also wanna play more games than just Destiny 2, CoO is perfect: A bunch of new content that has an end point. But I get the community's wants and grievances. If I could play Destiny 2 forever, I would. It just feels that good.

They'll get there. As much as everyone complained about D1, they played it forever. D2 will get there.

you know i always thought people were over exaggerating with the whole no end game thing but i get it now. i'm at the stage where i'm only loading the game up every tuesday for reset and only for a couple hours at that. i enjoy playing the game but there is nothing to convince me to load up after completing the weekly milestones.

also i'm tired of getting the same items all the time. i wish there was more weapon/gear variety.

pls bungie.

Does Uriel's Gift still mainly drop from Failsafe in Nessus? I've been "farming" tokens in hopes of getting one, but so far no luck...
Uriels drops from Gunsmith, no?
Uriel's is technically a Nessus drop. I ended up getting my first and only from Crucible.
It can also drop from Gunsmith and random Engrams.

You can see what drops from what here:

Played two matches in Destiny 1...

Wow. I had a huge smile on my face the whole time.

Just played PvE and PvP on Destiny 1 too. Same reaction, huge smile on my face.

Situations in PvE feel way more diversified due to having the choice between Automatic/Rifle, Shotgun/Sniper and Rocket Launcher/Sword/Machine Gun, and the PvP is just pure chaos, but so so much fun.

I can only hope Bungie will embrace the chaotic nature of Destiny and just go crazy for Destiny 3 instead of looking for balance. One can dream I guess.

I never played D1. Did it have the dumb "vendors only sell 300lvl gear some of the time, check this Twitter to find out when!" thing? Of all the dumb shit in this game, that has the be the most egregious.

I'm with you on that. Power Level is such a ridiculous concept. When you get to the max PL, vendors should start selling max PL gear all the time. Now that I'm at max PL, I want to focus on building out gear sets for specific play styles, not worry about whether I'm gonna be on at the right time to actually take advantage of the fact that I'm max PL.

I'd vastly prefer RNG power level between 294 and 300 at vendors to the current situation of having to wait until some website lets me know I can login and get 300 gear. Or just give 300 gear always at vendors.

Wow. I had a huge smile on my face the whole time.

I played some D1 as well (Xur was selling Jade Rabbit for us Xbox folk (it's dogshit btw)) and surprisingly there was hardly any Wormwood action. One guy was peeling domes with a sniper so I gave him some props and added "shame they're garbage in D2" as well, which he agreed with of course.

Then I checked out Xbox LFG and there were actually still people looking to run a raid (Kings Fall since it was the weekly). I wasnt feeling like Kings Fall so I found someone doing a Wrath and hopped in. Of course I think I found the weird part of Destiny and immediately regretted it just listening to their banter.

Its just night and day between the two games. I'm keeping it installed still just so I can hop on and play a few matches or run a raid if any are open.

Actually, yea. Just have the PL range be a constant so the token system will drop items at a range of PLs. Sometimes you're unlucky and you don't get max PL. But when it does, it feels rewarding. Might actually help make the token system feel a little rewarding.

Doesn't sound very rewarding to me, since it's a matter of chance rather than effort.

I meant more compared to what we have now. The token system is inherently chance based. Reaching max PL and not having my chance drops be at Max PL except during random 30 minute intervals is silly.

I have a small clan on Xbox you're welcome to join. We're typically on weeknights and weekends (EST). Msg me on XBL GT is same as here if you're interested.

Man I forgot how unfun the PVP is.

This is the first Iron Banner on PC, so it's my first time truly diving in... yeah it's an absolute mess. If you told me that after all this waiting, I'd be thinking about resubbing to Playstation Plus just so I could play some D1 Rumble or Control...

I was three fourths into a Strike with two random players and the game straight up threw me to the desktop. "You must restart the Battle.net application to continue" or something like that, with "Shutdown" being the only option. First time that it has ever happened to me. Anyone else has ever experience this before?

I spent countless times with D1 months prior to 2 because I know I won't go back. It's just time to move on regardless of how D2 turns out. That's how it is with fighting games too, the scene always gravitates to the newer one.

So is there no way to type to people in Destiny 2 on PC? It seems odd for a "MMO". I am level 20 and have yet to see something typed (or said vocally). Also can you not type to your clan? How do we communicate with our clan?

You can team chat, and pretty sure there is a fireteam chat. It was an oversight yes, but for reals, people who rely on in game text chat to play destiny are in for a bad time. I don't know how you couldn't use discord or teamspeak. Aren't mod mics like 10 bucks there days? Not to be argumentative or contrary but I don't get it.

Oh I have a mic, but its just odd how I have yet to communicate with anyone. I played 100% solo and did a few pvp/strikes matchmaking,

It makes social spaces in the game completely pointless and dead.

Bungie said a few weeks ago they are working on clan chat and said it was one of their highest priorities. http://www.pcgamer.com/bungie-says-destiny-2-clan-chat-is-one-of-our-highest-priorities/

Until then you're stuck with the bungie website chat, discord, or other third party communication mechanisms.

Which warlock exotics would you guys say are the best ones?
So far I've got karnstein's armlets and the Skull of Dire Arakhama.

I love using the skull of public events but I feel like the armlets are probably better.

You can send a whisper to people if they have it switched on in their preferences, but it's turned off by default. There is a link to our Battle.net group in the OP. It's a chat room that's linked into Battle.net, so you can see who's online. You still have to send a friend invite to whisper people, though, and not a lot people look at it, I guess. It's on the social tab of the Battle.net launcher.

The best by far IMO is Nezarec's Sin, which recharges all of your abilities (melee, grenade, and super) on void kills. So if you're using a void secondary, void heavy, and using the voidwalker class, you're recharging your abilities incredibly fast!

Oh man that's something to keep an eye on, I'm guessing that pairs well with devour since i think while you're under the effects of devour every kill you get counts as a void kill.

Crown is good if you play well for stormcaller

Transversive is good if you like to go fast

Most of them are preeeeety weak
Winters guile is good for devour memes if you want to feel like a god and solo stuff like the courtyard in the raid

Realistically I swap a lot between crown and transversive for raiding and PvP, I use both for pve and one for PvP

I really don't use anything besides the two, for vw I use only transversive because I'm devour anyway
