Hollow Knight is one of the best games I have played but god I hate that soul system where you can lose your money. These kind of systems are bullshit in every game I have played and it doesn't bring anything good to the table. Only frustration. I'm OK with hard games but this makes things sometimes pretty random. I just lost all my money because I died in pretty impossible place and it was almost impossible to get them back.
You know you can use an item to get them back without having to travel to where you died?

Hmm... so they are both 5-10 hours then... got 4 flights coming up in the next 10 days. Could probably beat them both on the longer flights, even if I haven't completely finished up octo which I can jump in and out of on the shorter ones if I'm not done yet.

Thanks Herb Alpert and Subconian Dreamer

That said, Undertale is a game that gains a LOT on at least two different playthroughs (assuming you go into the first run through unspoiled).

Luke & Rebecca.

Solo or local co-op game where you search for diamonds and then try to escape.

You walk around a map, avoiding people by staying out of their light of sight, as well as collecting red and blue key cards to open up doors.

Enemies will turn red when they see you and chase after you. Because your character moves slow, it seems kinda hard to run away from them. If you get caught, you'll end up in a jail cell but getting out is a matter of tapping A on the door.

You start off with 5 lives and each time you get caught, you lose a life. You also lose 30 seconds from the timer.

You're given a grade after each map. Probably based on stealth and time and not getting caught:

Here's how some of the maps look:

Quick gameplay I recorded:

Co-op can be played with 1 joycon each. A is your main and only button, other than moving with the analog/dpad.

I can't speak on replayability or content since I'm only on stage 2 but I assume there won't be much, other than going back to each map and getting the highest rank.

I'll play more throughout the day and give a better opinion later on.

Thanks to the sale and the demo I picked up Yoku's Island Express. What a charming game! Loving it so far.

So found something interesting, might just be a or slip up, but as you know the only confirmed window on the Sega Genesis collection for switch is this winter, well Sega forever's twitter says it'll release this year

Which makes sense it's the perfect stocking stuffer... well hopefully we get a date soon, I'd love to grab it next month

Evil is watching

The beginning of the Resident Evil Revelations 2 tale sees fan favorite Claire Redfield make a dramatic return. Survivor of the Raccoon City incident depicted in previous Resident Evil games, Claire now works for the anti-bioterrorism organization Terra Save. Moira Burton, is attending her welcome party for Terra Save when unknown armed forces storm the office. Claire and Moira are knocked unconscious and awaken later to find themselves in a dark and abandoned detention facility. Working together, they must find out who took them and to what sinister end. Will Claire and Moira make it out alive and discover what's led to them being taken to this remote island? A story of twists and turns will have players guessing the next step at every turn.

Enhance your gameplay experience even further with additional motion controls that let you aim and wield your weapons with greater accuracy on the Nintendo Switch.

You know you can use an item to get them back without having to travel to where you died?

And that item is ridiculously late-game, and you have to have the foresight place it before you die. So, useless in 99% of situations.
And yes, even though the soul can be collected from somewhere else too if that's unlocked, there's a very good chance of dying again before getting there.

This mechanic added unnecessary frustration to my play through, on top of an already difficult, obtuse, and intense game. It forced me to unpleasantly grind souls as I lost a shitload of them a couple of times and it really impeded my upgrades and progress.

The person wasn't talking about the endgame item with which
you can teleport
but the kind of item that you get throughout the game and with which you can get your soul back to a safe place. That is,
the eggs.

I'm a big fan of the 8bitdo controllers. I have a n30 pro that I think works great for switch, after nes online launched I played through Zelda with it and it was excellent. Much better dpad than my xeno pro controller. There's also the sn30 pro with bigger sticks, rumble, and gyro.

Awesome! Thanks, I will order one today. I take it lag is not an issue? Would it be worth getting a wired controller?

Be aware that some 8bit controllers (sn30 in my experience) have dpad issues. I have 2 of them and both suffer from dpad going in direction not pressed.
I have heard good things about the hori pokken controller even though I have not tried it myself. I heard that not all games are compatible with it though. So far there seems to be no ultimate switch controller for dpad usage.

I'm somewhat tempted to pick up The Gardens Between, given its current sale price (-30%) which seems quite generous for such a new release, but can't find much in the way of Era impressions on the game. Would anyone care to convince me one way or the other? Thanks!

Man this thread movies fast on busy weeks!

Please take a look at Luke & Rebecca! It's going to get buried but I am loving it so far. There's a solo mode too if you don't have anyone to play with.

Thanks for your heads-up regarding this game! It's a game I'd dismiss if I didn't heard anything about it.

I'll absolutely get it for the co-op in a few days when it releases on the EU eShop.

I keep on waffling on whether or not I want to get Diablo 3. I own it on PS4 but never really put a ton of time in to it, I think because something else came up. I feel like having it portable would really suck me in so that's kind of what I'm banking on. I've been really wanting a loot game so this is probably my best bet for a while (is there anything else on the horizon?).

Thinkin' about that Scribblenauts Mega Pack....

On one hand it's supporting WB milking the franchise without the original devs,

but it's scribblenauts

On another hand I already own both games on steam and beaten unlimited twice,

but it's scribblenauts

Don't do it, it's been dropping really fast.

Still bummed we didn't get any dlc levels for Odyssey

Me too, I would pay for a season pass. Surprised me how the DLC was handled.

Haven't checked eShop news in a while. Still no word on Phantasy Star?

Edit: Immediately after posting this I see the thread about the Halloween release.

Yeah I had no idea.

I still think it is not a good mechanic. The game is already hard enough and that is the right kind of a challenge that is great. I liked very much challenge in Celeste where the game is just hard but no bullshit like this. This just cause unnecessary frustration and stress for me. Btw I mostly hate roguelikes also so this kind of a thing isn't for me but in here it is in a wrong place and probably only negative thing in Hollow Knight.

I got Tricky Towers for some local couch play. It's a very well-crafted game, although the scope of the game isn't that big. You build towers based on standard Tetris blocks, and need to build a tower faster than the opponents. You get special items at certain levels, that you can apply on yourself (helpful) or on the opponents (damage).

Please note that Tricky Towers is not a puzzle game, it revolves much more around the fun of physics of building a wobbly tower than precise Tetris building. It's is a good party game and seem very well balanced to make it fun for everyone. The game also has online matches, but I haven't tested that.

Yeah, one of the bigger mistakes is to build your tower as if you're playing Tetris. I think almost everybody is bound to do that when they first try their game, but will soon discover that it doesn't make for particularly sturdy towers.

I like the mode in which you have to use as many pieces as possible in a very restrictive space. Put the game on 'special' though as the other difficulty modes aren't as exciting.

I haven't noticed or felt any input lag with my 8bitdo controllers when paired with Switch. Since my n30 pro came out some time before the Switch even did, compatibility was added through firmware updates, and performance was also improved by further updates. I'm still impressed at how well they got it working. The new ones should come with the latest firmware I'd think so should work well out of the box. Pretty much the only big downside to my mind is that you do lose the ability to wake the console from sleep.

I couldn't tell you if a wired controller would offer a significant improvement on input lag, I've used my xeno pro wired and also a friend's PowerA wired controller and personally didn't notice any difference in that area. That's just me of course.

Right now I really need a date for Sega genesis collection switch, because I think I'd pass on snk 40th in favor of that(the selection is more my style) but if it's not till the end of December it does me no good

I think you should pass on the Genesis collection based on the fact that it isn't a very good 'game'. It is wonky at best, the UI is kind of messy and the emulation could be a lot better.

Hopefully SNK collection works and runs well. Granted it isn't like either of these is going anywhere and you can buy them whenever, but I am hoping SNK runs well as I have a desire to play Crystalis on the Switch.

Yeah I know the emulation isn't perfect, but it's not completely broken and the tiniest bit of lag won't kill me. Plus I tend to be listening to something else so sound glitches don't drive me crazy. I'm mainly after the jrpgs, and some of the adventure style games like landstalker

Started Outlast on the PS4 last night, scared me good & so purchased it for Switch on the Mex eShop @ $9ish. I'm ready for Halloween with my family & friends!

Also pre-purchased Full Metal Furies after seeing a couple of positive posts here with Steam reviews corroborating the same sentiment, around $9 as well!

I may jump on Outlast 2 too because it's on sale.

Hidden Folks released Beach DLC a week ago & is having a sale on their core game for $1.99 (sale probably ends in 24 hours) for Android (unsure about iOS). If anyone's interested, it's a smaller cost to play this relaxing gem before it lands on the Switch!

Life is easier if you're going to buy both collections like me. :P
I mean it depends on when the other one releases, next month is tight for me, but while this month is light I can't nesse do both and genesis appeals more. So if that drops this month I'll grab it instead, but if not I could use snk 40th as a filler(and I still have a preorder discount)
