Looked that way early on
In the end it looks like its maybe flat or slightly down on BF week. Early weeks of the month were down YoY due to COD launching in October.
Cyber Monday if it doesn't move a lot of consoles could have PS4 down YoY
December 2009 when Nintendo sold 3.8m Wii's and 3.3m DS's in just the USA was fairly mental tbh. They broke the all time monthly sales record twice in one month, with two different consoles.
Are we likely to get any demographic data on who is buying the switch? Looking at let's go on twitch it seems to have a disproportionately high number of female streamers with high viewership. I thought animal crossing might be the first big game to really bring in a different audience. I'm just curious who is actually buying let's go and if it's different to who switch has been selling to previously.
.
if it's not, I hope we don't get 10 pages of dumbos attacking insiders, as is the norm

To be fair Sony made a mess introducing Slim revision that year. First by starving the market to clear the channel and then by not producing slim fast enough until 2005(which did lead to an all time January record, when supply finally caught up).
I mean that's a pretty safe bet. It's pokemon, so it's a known quantity of the audience it brings.I'm very curious about Switch demographic data as well. I have a feeling that Pokémon is acting as a catalyst to spur growth from female and younger gamers.

the big drivers of the female audience seem to be AC, Pkmn, Kart, FE, etc
Brace yourself Benji.Cyber Monday if it doesn't move a lot of consoles could have PS4 down YoY

I'll get attacked when NPD releases no matter what outcomes happen. Luckily I'm used to it by now.
Fortunately there are far more good and positive posters than negative fanboys
There was no 249 dollars deal last year in November IIRC. According to Benji November could be down because Cod launched in October despite a similar stock for Spidey bundle ( compared to last year 199 bundle ).Is it possible there was more stock for the $199 BF Spidey bundle but last year when the deal ran out consumers just "settled" for $249 deals and this year they simply didn't pick up a PS4 once the Spidey bundle was out of stock?
The 2 million dream is dead.Damn, really sucks the Sony didn't ship enough PS4s to beat last year's November then. It would have been amazing.
oh yeah, actual data would be cool. Nintendo seems to randomly release demo info every few years or soIt's a pretty safe bet but it would still be interesting to get some data or even just anecdotal evidence that this is happening and to what extent.

:( I guess that's that. No prIce cut until ps5.So my main take away in regards to PS4 performance?
Sony hasn't really changed their mind much in regards to how man PS4s they are willing to sell at the $199 price point from last year.
In other words I would not expect a permanent cut to $199 anytime on the near horizon
<3 Seriously, thank you for being you.I'll get attacked when NPD releases no matter what outcomes happen. Luckily I'm used to it by now.

Such a shame, PS4 is going to be demolished in December by the competition. 249 next to a 200 Xbox and 299+50 gift card switch is terrible.Adventureracing Probably just the CoD bundle for $249 like last year.
So my main take away in regards to PS4 performance?

I doubt that PS4 manufacturing supply is the issue, Sony just doesn't want to sell more than a fixed amount of $199 bundles.<3 Seriously, thank you for being you.
I'm still surprised that Sony still can't go a holiday without shorting out even 5 years into the life of a system. Why can't they seem to supply enough? If the Wii could supply like 2-3 million in a month, why can't Sony for such a popular console so late in its life?
Also another quick question I had: how does this November seem to be comparing (in terms of total hardware sales between all manufacturers) to the most popular Novembers in NPD records?

Goddamn it. 2 million could be easily achieved if Sony was willing to ship it.
It's (probably) dead (ish) JimPlease bear in mind I'm not trolling. I'm really curious about what I believe Nintendo experiment here..
How's labo doing? Do any retailers even bother to restock it?

Probably for the best that Benji has given us a dose of reality, the PS4 sales expectations around ERA the past few days have been going a little overboard.

Yeah, 1 year later and it seems that the $199 price point is still losing a bit too much money for their liking. Of course, it also has to do with how well the PS4 sells at $299 too. If you're going to sell a ton of units regardless of price, why not get the extra money from the $299 price point instead?Make sense .
They already raise there forecast twice and PS4 is still selling well at $300 during the other months .
Make for less hype but better profit for Sony .
Still i wonder how much they lose on the $199 bundle .
I don't understand the people upset Sony didn't ship more.
Why undercut the console that sells fine as it is at $299 more than you have to. Just to get a meaningless record?
The $199 is a great limited time value and great to generate hype for the system but definitely doesn't need to extend past what it did. It's like asking why Nintendo doesn't cut the price of Switch.
Surely they must be considering going to that price point permanently or at least extending it during the holiday season. The potential is there to rapidly expand their user base.
Having said that I do understand weighing up the loss of revenue and changing consumer expectations towards expecting cheaper prices. Will be fun to see how things play out.
They dont need to though. The PS4 continues to sell amazing without a price cut.
They dont really need to rapidly expand their userbase as its going to grow regardless. Better to continue to get as much profit as possible out of the PS4 in the final 2 years before PS5 release
How do you know that Sony is losing money at 199? PS4 has been 299 since October 2016 and i find hard to believe that they were losing money in the first place at that price. Maybe and just maybe PS4 is not 199 because they are still meeting and sometimes exceeding their profits / units forecast at 299.
Damn, really sucks the Sony didn't ship enough PS4s to beat last year's November then. It would have been amazing.
That certainly makes sense. Lowering the price would always lead to more sales. The arguments were making for a $199 price point would be just as valid as a drop to $99 or $0. At some point you've got to balance revenue versus user base and Sony has found a good mix.
I just think in the modern day where Sony and MS are working so much harder to lock users down to their ecosystem the more people you get on board before next gen the better. Also with all the extra revenue avenues (like the huge revenue from online subscriptions and massive SW attach rate and digital sales) it seems like Somy should be in a better position than ever to be aggressive on price and be able to recoup that money.
Having said that I'm mostly speaking from a selfish place wanting to see some sales records broken and that's not really realistic :p.
