I remembered back in Generation 5, where there were some people who argued that the new Pokemon (Unova ones) looked like Digimon. I have no idea what that meant, but I didn't like what I read because they mostly sounded like an insult when that was mentioned about the new Pokemon. Nowadays there doesn't seem to be that kind of comments, so I guess almost nobody thinks of that. Could anybody enlighten me on how the newer Pokemon look like Digimon, or is such a comment ultimately baseless?

Thank you for reading.
People have been saying that since Gen 4. I have no idea why either, people like that just say anything without even understanding or even being knowledgeable on the subject. In fact I remember some people saying Alolan forms were a "Digimon thing" and I've never been so baffled, so I just tend to ignore that crowd.

Where were you guys when people were trying to make an equivalence between Blaziken and Flamedramon?

Wait that was the basis of Blaziken being unfairly called "looking like a Digimon"? Jeez those people are idiot as Flamedramon looks nothing like Blaziken and isn't even based on the same thing as Flamedramon is a dragon whereas Blaziken is a chicken.

Honestly the whole "it look like Digimon" is just dumb as anyone that says it is not only putting down the Digimon series but clearly doesn't know the Digimon series as the Digimon design tend to get kinda crazy and isn't above recolouring a Digimon and calling it a new Digimon.

After a tough and interesting Elite 4 match I have finished Ultra Moon and man the end credit was just oozing with charm and reminded me of the gen 2 credit, though I did crack a laugh when Zygarde pop his ugly head.

But I feel conflicted about the game as a whole as I did enjoy it but I found it to be a disappointing third version as the Necrozma plot was so poorly ham fist while trying to keep the original plot which clearly did not work well as some characters got shafted due to the new story element.

Game Freak really should have done a sequel, which would have made a lot of sense as Kukui talks about Alola future being bright due to the formation of the Elite 4, and if I was writing the story I would have made it that the Ultra Recon squad were the villain launching an attack on the Pokémon after due to the result of what Lusamine did in Sun and Moon and them viewing Alolan folks misusing Necrozma light, as they view them as wasting something that Ultra Megalopolis doesn't have, I would have also made it that they had already captured Lunala/Solgaleo and were looking for a way to harness their power for their goal.

I would have changed up the Elite Four to cover types that didn't get a trial captain, namely Ice, Psychic, Bug, Guzma would have taken this role, and Poison, Plumeria would have taken this role, while adding a new trial for flying and made Ryuki a dragon trial captain.

As it currently stand, Ultra Sun and Moon ended gen 7 with a dull thud rather than a bang like Black and White 2 or the other third version did.

So.... anyone understand what the heck this is about?

The movies are now their own canon hopefully, telling a new adventure of Satoshi each year. I am loving that new design, and if they decided to do some sort of time skip in this new continuity, I hope to god next gen it completely replaces the old one. SM honestly feels to me like it can be used to tie up and end the 20 year old anime, and with the new movies, they can easily restart it without making a huge mess of everything.

The old anime doesn't need to end, it's marketing genius. It's pretty much like a cartoon in that it can run forever if need be.

If it was going to end, it would've ended a long time ago.

End in its current form. Not entirely. I want them to reboot the series with Gen 8 starting off with Movie Satoshi starting a new adventure, with the next 5 movies telling us how he got there.

Ah, so they're re-doing The Power of One, then.

Hope they stick the localised Lugia's Theme in when they dub it.

Redoing one of the best Pokémon movie ever that starred the majestic Lugia was which caused me to buy Pokémon Silver thus was responsible for getting me back into the Pokémon series?

Sweeeeeeeet I am so down for that.

Wow I'm just realizing there's a sliver of hope for a Pokemon Movie 3 remake. God I hope that happens. Personally it's by far my favorite Pokemon Movie (though I haven't seen a lot of the more recent ones).

This past Saturday, the local Cartoon Network showed Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!.

Hmm, of course would be rushed but Marshadow role was totally bland and the Team Rocket was unnecessary. Weak movie.

Yeah I thought it was just okay. Felt like the plot was pretty disjointed and a lot of the nostalgiabait scenes were shoved in regardless of whether they fit in or not.

Better than the last pokemon movie I saw though, the Diancie one. That one was pretty bad.

Hey I was right and Crystal totally is coming out! I bought and played Gold already, but I am totally down for Crystal still.

I heard they are adding the gs ball event which is cool. I wonder if we will get any other content that was missing in the original international release?

Daisuki Club has released a new feature page. Forms are the focus this time. I believe this is the first time TPC has explicitly put the different types of forms in official categories. Interestingly, it notes that in the case of Rotom there may be more utilizations similar to Rotom Pokédex in the future. Foreshadowing some Gen 8 feature, maybe?

Edit: unless you mean they have been out since January of this year. Now I'm confused
No, they're coming out next month. There are Grunt ones though

Huh

Only in the anime I think. Burmy has never been 'naked' in game

Edit: off topic, but I had an infestation of Burmy's real life counterparts in my house so I HATE this Pokemon.

Huh, I just looked it up and yeah it has been naked in the anime and it totally matches that design. I wasn't aware of that. I think it's the first time we're getting official art of one tho. (sinnoh confirmed)

I always liked burmy, I'm sorry to hear that! Never cared much for its evolutions though.

edit: source btw http://www.pokemon.jp/special/forme/zukan02/

I wish we had higher res art of the castforms. The wiki uses dreamworld art of something, what's on that page looks much nicer.

Which reminds me that Zen Mode Darmanitan never got any official videogame art either. Poor thing.

That's been Burmy's design internally since its inception. You even see it like that in the anime. The designers draw out all of a Pokemon's features and then pass it to the 3D modelers and animators. Some good examples are Drifloon/Drifblim's mouth and Genesect transforming into a UFO-like shape to move around.

Here's a good description by James Turner.

You never see a lot of these things in-game (especially pre-Gen 6) because of this. We usually just get two/three pieces of official art for each Pokemon and that's it.

I've seen some model sheets in the past but I think those were mostly from the anime. That one's really neat, I wish they sold artbooks with that kind of stuff.

Makes sense that the anime based things on official internal designs. I mean, we're talking gen IV here, they weren't making that sort of stuff up anymore in those days. I just never thought of naked Burmy before now.

Hmm I take that this is the official confirmation that Team Skull is the Team Skull is the evil team with Guzma being on equal levels as the other head villains rather than Lusamine.

Man Lusamine got shaft hard in Ultra Sun and Moon.

I did not know that James Turner was on Twitter! :O

Aren't all Pokémon naked including the one that look like they are wearing clothes but it's their skin?

^Mostly, but there are a few exceptions like Throh/Sawk, which according to Pokedex lore really do make their own clothes.

Oh yeah I forgot about that.

I- hm. I don't know if I want to think about this.

I mean, Mr Mime's outfit being weird skin isn't something I want to think about ever again

Truth be told, Pokémon like Mr. Mime, Jynx or the Simi just creep me out and I avoid adding them to my team strangely their pre-evolution don't bother me. I think it's because the line between human and Pokémon are blurred as Oranguru also creep me out, especially when its Ultra Sun Pokédex entry states;

"It throws Poké Balls and gives other Pokémon orders as it pleases."

Though the idea of battling an Oranguru that is a Pokémon trainer sounds cool.

I'm all right with Oranguru because I like its design, obviously it's an intelligent Pokemon but very much in a real world apes like way, with poke balls replacing tools. I don't find apes to be creepy and Oranguru very much looks the part.

Jynx and Mr Mime absolutely creep me out though, and not in the good way. You could argue the line between human and Pokemon is just as much blurred with say, Alakazam, but that one doesn't creep people out in the same way now does it? The same goes for those pre-evolutions. It's the designs. Mr. Mime looks like the kind of thing child me would have had a nightmare about.

So is stuff like Hypno, that thing is creepy as fuck (... and is the pendulum made out of flesh too?? :x), but at least you know it's intentional there. I'll gladly use a Hypno in my team. Mr Mime and Jinx though? Nope nope nope

Beta 3 of my ROM hack of Pokemon Red is now available: link
It's an experiment in player freedom and dynamic scaling in a Pokemon game.
It's pretty good so far, started with a Koffing in Celadon. Was getting destroyed by a Rocket who had 2/3 Legendary Birds but then I found TM02 Dragon Rage (which made Koffing into a serious tank) and also bought Abra from the Game Corner. I would look into not making the drink machine give random items though, they're kinda quest items and wouldn't want anyone to softlock because they can't get into Saffron.

I might move this over to my 3DS, it'll probably work there.

I've been thinking of getting into the TCG strictly for collection purposes. I'm not planning on playing it at all. Is it worth it? Or does it become incredibly expensive after a while? Where should I begin, with which set?

Honestly, this is just a thought that has crossed my mind several times before, and with Christmas on the horizon, it could be a good excuse to get started.

Checking in again if there are any regular Pokken DX players. I play just about every day and would love more real life friends to play over and over against.

Just finished Team Rainbow Rocket episode, it was pretty good, with Cyrus having god tier remixed music, but I can't help but feel that this should have been part of the main adventure rather than post game plus it's a shame that gen 2 didn't get a rep and it would have been cool seeing the Bosses interacting with each other.

Still got minor things to wrap up, like exploring the rest of Poni Island, and then I will have finished Pokémon Ultra Moon.

Anyone hear about Michael Long? #1 in the Senior division was caught cheating at the Memphis Regionals

Not really surprised as cheating is rampaged within the Pokémon meta game. How was he caught cheating?

From what I understand he had been hiding cards from his discard pile in his lap running a Greninja deck. The judges where suspicious and asked him to stand up and the hidden cards fell on the floor.
