Is this TV still the best bang for your buck 4K tv out there? Just found out we're getting a work bonus in March so I'm hoping to finally pick this up.

Assuming TCL updates it one year after release (so June) you may be better waiting a few months just to see if the update is worth it. Even if it's not, P607 will probably get a price cut.

But yeah it's still the best bang for your buck. Around March, some other mid-range TVs might be discounted so you might want to keep an eye out.

Picked this TV up due to this thread and could t be happier.

The image you get out of this tv for the price is ridiculous. My personal bias in tvs is looking for good black levels and this TV is insane with them. When it's just a logo on the screen like the PS4 bootup or any kind of loadin screen, the thing looks near OLED with it.

My next TV is going to be OLED, but this was an amazing stopgap

You can always check Rtings.com for their updates but I'd personally say it was the best bang for your buck TV for 2017. TCL will probably announce a new model at CES this month so you may want to wait. You'll be happy either way, though.

Jason from giant bomb bought this tv and gave it a shout out on the podcast this week. Surprised it hasn't already been mentioned on here.

I skimmed around the first hour but couldn't find it. I would assume that it was before they started talking about the news. It was probably three or four sentences at most so it's hard to pin down when it was talked about.

Been waiting a month for this tv. It was suppose to get here today but UPS screwed up. My town is inbetween two ups centers. They delivered it to the one that for some reason, even though it's 10 minutes away, won't deliver it to me or let me pick it up. So instead of just driving it the 20 minutes to the center that will deliver it to me, they've drove it back to jersey over an hour away. Now due to snow tomorrow I don't think I'm going to get it.

This is after me throwing a fit at amazon for how long it's taken. It's a prime item, but they shipped it standard and took 3 weeks to ship it from my order date. Due to all of this I expect it to be broken lol

If you complain enough they might give you a discount. Has happened a few times with me lol

They've already given me two months of prime and a $10 credit coupon. I should just be like I want the tv for free lol.

Just got it and it's very nice. Need to play some X enhanced games and watch some hdr content to really get all of it.
My only complaint is the stand. Much rather the tv have a central stand that can swivel instead of the two bars.

Now after a few hours the remote has stopped working except for power,

Are all the HDMI ports 4k/60hz? I really hate having to unplug my x to plug in my MacBook Pro on my Vizio :(

Yes!! That is good to hear. Might pull the trigger soon, just debating on waiting until CES is over or just cashing out lol.
I would wait, worst case scenario you get the same tv for the same price you would pay today. Best case scenario TCL shows off there new tv's and they are mind blowing awesome and still affordable and you get one of those instead. Second best scenario, the price on the newer models in too high for you but the new model announcement brings down the price of the older model.

For what it's worth, I know pretty much nothing about tv prices vs. New model announcements. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chime in.

Finally got updated to version 8 of the OS and it fixed the FALD issue while also improving the flashing I sometimes see. I'm not sure it fixed the sharpness bug though.

So is everything have green checks with the Xbox one X? Also does it do HDR10 and Dolby Vision? Does it have more than one hdmi 2.0 port? Still trying to decide between this and a Vizio M series...

I'm not at home to check, but from what I remember setting up my One X everything had green check marks. The tv does both HDR10 and Dolby Vision. All three of its HDMI ports are 2.0.

Bought a 605 yesterday. Didn't realize it didn't come with the fancy remote the 607 does but other than that I'm pretty happy. Great for a bedroom TV.

So, I'm back again. Is it possible that my TV is just defective? I've tried everything, and I'm even noticing the black crush in regular streaming content. Everything is SO DARK. Gamma is at 1.8, TV brightness is at "brighter" in a completely dark room. Picture is so black and dark. So much detail is lost in the picture.

He's actually done shouts for this TV multiple times in the past as well.

I am also pretty satisfied with my TV so far. For reference, I have another 55'' Samsung TV (4K but not HDR) and I find the TCL has better picture quality in even normal content. But it may also be due to the fact that I've set up a theater like location for the TCL and the Samsung is in the room under harsher conditions and lighting.

Gotta admit though, HDR takes a lot of calibration per-game to get that "sweet spot" and as others have said, often times the results are a little bit darker so I have to use the "Brighter" settings and color temp to Normal. I just can't get used to how yellow everything looks on the Warm color temperature.

I also use the TV as a TV, for PS4 Pro and also a gaming laptop, so I'm getting good use out of all 3 HDMI ports and it's been great on all three. The only negative I've noticed is that if I have local dimming completely off, in completely pitch black areas you can see the white/grey color bleeding slightly in the extreme edges of the TV. However if I have the local dimming to even low, it is completely eliminated. I usually keep the local dimming on either Low or Normal depending on what's on.

So I can't get this to toggle on and off when using my xbox. The xbox says it's recognized the tv. Think it's bc my kinect is in front of the ir sensor on the tv?

Something weird happened today

I got the notification that batteries were low from the TV over the weekend. I didn't know where the remote was and didn't think much of it. This morning I'm getting ready to leave when I hear a very subtle yet persistent ticking. I go looking for the sound and find the remote has been make the sound (almost like a bomb). I pulled the batteries out and put it to the side.

Guys My TV broke down, I'm short on cash, I want to purchase this model, and I keep seeing this thread popping here at ERA. Does the TV still hold up after months of use? Is it good for my PS4/Switch/Wii U set up?

My last TV that broke down was a VIZIO and after 7 years it died on me twice. One during the first 11 months and a second time this past weekend.

Any thoughts?

I have an X1X and it turns the TV on and off every time. I don't have a Kinect so I couldn't tell you if that has anything to do with it. The front of the TV has no obstructions however.

If your concern is this TV breaking after a while, I think it's a bit early for any of us to say definitively. It's only been out for 7 months, and most of us have it had for less than that. It's fairly well made imo but some people were having some panel issues upon purchase. You could always get the warranty but like you said, you're trying to save money.

No idea why it's not working for me.
You may want to go through the calibration process using "guide me" rather than just accepting the automatic one. I honestly don't think it's ever worked properly for me. Case in point, I can't get it to turn on my Uverse receiver since I don't go through the entire process. I'll probably check that tonight...

Just installed the wall mount in the bedroom last night. Hard not to cash out at Best Buy, and bring it home. CES has me patiently waiting lol. So does the Roku interface have apps like watch espn/HBO go/ect? Or is it like every other "smart" platform that makes you get a damn set top media box to use those certain apps? Thanks
