Gravity rush 2 at #9 last year is really telling how this list may not match the general population as a whole. If there was any doubt.

Ok I LL keep updating this post :

Based on YouTube hits of the trailers for these games (above 2 million view counts for a trailer is eligible for my counting unless it has below 2 million hits )

1.Red dead redemption 2: 73.4 million
2.God of war : 65 million
3.Spiderman: 60.5 million
4.Monster Hunter world :16 million
5.Kingdom heart 3 :26.7 million
6.Detroit become human :6.6 million
7.Shadow of the colossus: 3.2 million
8.Dragon quest XI:4.9 million
9.Ni no kuni 2 : about 1 million
10.Yakuza 6 :about 1.7 million

you have to take in mind tough, that some of those games have more trailers than others.

if we for example just look at the most watched trailers of god of war and RDR 2 its like this

Red Dead Redemption 2 ~ 75 Mio Views (Announcement Trailer)
God of War ~ 34 Mio (E3 2016)

Yeah. If you would follow resetera or the previous forum you would asume Jrpgs are the hottest shit ever.
Well even now we can see from YouTube hit numbers that ni no kuni 2 won't light up the charts as it has below one million YouTube views all together . But people are still excite about it .

Nintendo's "We don't announce most games until a few months before they release" thing they have now makes me less pumped for years of gaming now. I have no idea what I'll probably be playing most of the year and you can see the effect of this on the list.

Still a good list though. Great work OP!

Nonsense. We don't even have names for these so called eligible Nintendo games. Kirby Star Allies, that's literally everything. Voting for unnamed Fire Emblem or Yoshi for Switch made no sense (not that I would vote for Kirby or Yoshi mind, I prefer the current top ten results I'm that much of a console warrior.) And of course Nintendo is not any other publisher. Any other publisher does not publish 31 games a year. You're just trying to argue for gerrymandering while you try to paint other people as console warriors. Classy!
That didn't stop "The Legend of Zelda" from making into the top 10 in 2015 and 2016.

LMAO at trying to compare this to gerrymandering. That you continue to continue to come up with these completely ridiculous arguments all while arguing Nintendo alone should be a special exception says it all.

I voted in Yoshi and Kirby Star Allies and that position is totally fine for them and other games that I voted. Seriously, no need to be upset because the eligible games didn't made the top or because the deadline ended soon. And in the end, it's just a list lol

no im talking about the e3 2016 trailer of God of War that has around 35 Mio Views combined

im just saying if you combine the E3 2016, E3 2017 and PSX Trailers of one Game and compare it to a game that maybe has only 1 Trailer by now, its not that fair

I expected that by now people has learned that this and the old forum were at times, not even close to be in line with the general population. I mind, I still remember how many people were should that Wildlands was gonna flop.

Oh I got what u mean .yea I guess so . Well this is just a mere approximation on interest on the titles .but regardless of that red dead will be bigger as it will be available on more platforms and it is made by rockstar ;)

Some games yes (like no no kuni 2 )but top 3 of this site matches exactly top 3 of YouTube most watched game trailers.

Eh, I don't think Era being out of touch with the general population is bad, and honestly that's not even true. Sure DQXI and Ni No Kuni 2 are not going to sell well, but if you think GoW, RDR2, and Spiderman, the top 3, aren't going to be huge commercial successes, you're crazy.

6. Indivisible - #29

Only crazy outlier on that list is Yakuza 6 and maybe Dq for the west the rest are honestly fine

Oh hey, I got a quote in. Nice.

Cool to see eight of my votes made it to the top 20. Only four was in the top 10, though, but hey, not bad. I should've expected Red Dead to top this list, but I totally forgot about it. A little sad how low Dragon Ball is...

Really cool banners, though. Love them.

Release date for NTWTF is not officially set at 2018 apparently. The same holds true for Copper Dreams I think.

edit: You're right, it says 2018 in the last teaser.

This. If you think about it, it's basically just the other side of the coin of the games that're delayed into next year, something people also get worked up over for no reason. Ideally games like Breath of the Wild and Persona 5 wouldn't make it into these lists three years in a row but we can't know those delays are going to happen unless their publishers tell us before the deadline ends.

I expected that by now people has learned that this and the old forum were at times, not even close to be in line with the general population. I mind, I still remember how many people were should that Wildlands was gonna flop.
Hell, there were a lot of people convinced (or hoping) Horizon was going to flop even though it had a large following in the community and did really well on the most anticipated polls (1st in 2016, 3rd in 2017).

That said, I don't really see the big deal. If anything, I really like seeing some of those niche games make it into the top 10 or 20, it's all part of the fun.

I'm impressed Monster Hunter got so high. Those betas must've been better received by non-hardcore fans than I thought. Certainly didn't expect it to place above KH3.

Gotta say I'm very, very happy to see Shenmue III make the Top 20, considering we haven't seen much of it. I honestly wasn't even expecting it to be in the Top 40. I'm hoping this kind of anticipation translates well into sincere hype once the marketing for the game ramps up this year, and we can see it in a better and more professional capacity.

Detroit at #6, and Dreams at #13 are both very surprising results as well.

  1. Spider-Man - #3
  2. God of War - #2
  3. Shenmue III - #19
  4. Dreams - #13
  5. Detroit: Become Human - #6
  6. Moss - #59
  7. The Wolf Among Us: Season 2 - #31
  8. Metro Exodus - #17
  9. Red Dead Redemption 2 - #1
  10. Yakuza 6 - #10

Looks like 2018 is PS4's year.
  • Top 13 games are all playable on the console.
  • 18 of the Top 20 are playable on the console.
  • 30 of the Top 40 are playable on the console.
  • 59 of the Top 80 are playable on the console.
  • 73 of the Top 100 are playable on the console.

Nice to see Bloodstained up there in the OP.

My most anticipated game isn't one that's been "announced" so I would imagine that couldn't possibly win, but it's similar to Bloodstained in many ways. I think it will also be missing 2018 too, so there's that.

Really excited to see what Rockstar do with Red Dead, and see how they've embraced new technology for this generation. And God of War in the second spot has me hyped! I put Sky way up there, super curious about how thatgamecompany handles the mobile front.

It's going to be an awesome year in gaming.

Has a console ever dominated a list so profoundly?

But amazing time for gaming, 4 huge years back to back: 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 (TLOU2, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Metroid Prime 4, SMT V, FFVIIR, Psychonauts 2?)

Yea man they are huge and in the right order when comparing era numbers with the hits on YouTube .
Those 3 games will probably sell a combined 30-40 million copies alone. (15M between GoW/Spidey, 15-20M RDR2).

Not sure how to write this without sounding like a Sony hater. I assure you I'm not, and the PS4 is my main console. Not that the PS4 wouldn't have a lot of titles on that list, but potentially a reason why you see quite a few Sony titles compared to Microsoft/Nintendo is because they announce them so early. Some of their 2018 games were already announced in 2015 and 2016. Nintendo and Microsoft probably have quite a few AAA titles coming out this year that they haven't announced yet, especially Nintendo.
They may announce too early, but they keep releasing shit ton of games in the meantime. As for MS, they had only 1 good conference this entire gen (2014) and cancelled the games they had shown there later on, except Crackdown 3 which still didn't come out. How is this game still not released 4 years later? Also, what was the last non-Forza, Halo, Gears AAA game by MS? I can already tell you next E3 what they will show: another Halo and Forza Horizon, maybe a teaser for Gears 5. I mean yeah maybe decent games but it becomes a routine. How'd it feel if all Sony Factory pumped out was Uncharted, GT and God of War.

Sony and MS are not on the same level when it comes to exclusive output, that's a fact and you don't need to be misleading about it by saying "they announce games too early".

I remember that. And P5 had almost the same points as Zelda and way above RDR2. Last year was the time I told myself "this list can't be serious".

1. Spider-Man (#3)
2. Red Dead Redemption 2 (#1)
3. God of War (#2)
4. Kingdom Hearts III (#5)
5. Detroit Become Human (#6)
6. Yakuza 6 (#10)
7. Days Gone (#15)
8. Shadow of the Colossus (#7)
9. Attack on Titan 2 (#95) T_T
10. Wolf Among Us Season 2 (#31)

7 out of 10 in the top 10s, not bad.
We really are SonyEra (with a side of NintendoEra once in a while)

I'm convinced resetera secretly likes David Cage games, its just too hard to pass a chance to criticize him lol

Looking now to the list and comparing to mine:

1 - Kingdom Hearts 3 (5)
2 - Dragon Quest XI (8)
3 - Dragon Ball FighterZ (11)
4 - Yakuza 6 (10)
5 - Detroit Become Human (6)
6 - Project Octopath Traveler (14)
7 - Spider-Man (3)
8 - Kirby Star Allies (32)
9 - Yoshi (37)
10 - God of War (2)

With the top 10 of Resetera, I'm planning to maybe buy Shadow of the Colossus and of course, RDR2. I didn't put it in my list because I don't have the hype right now since there's just cutscenes and nothing more.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Heavy Rain/Beyond, but the latest showcase of Detroit has looked absolutely stellar. People are going to eat some massive crow on this one.

But hating on David Cage has become somewhat of a meme ever since some prominent youtubers have taken that side like TwoBestFriendsPlay and the like.

Good list. Lots of salt in this thread over nothing though

2018 looking better than 2017 to me. I mean we got R*'s first game of the gen. That's huge by itself. Kingdom Hearts 3 is finally here after 12 years. God of War back and reborn. A Spider-Man game that is being created by a extremely talented team. And then one of the most ambitious looking games ever presented with Dreams. Damn good year in front of us

If there's one thing about 2018, it's that it will finally complete the trifecta of me getting the lost JRPG sequels, FFXV, Persona 5, and KH3. One for each year. It's almost poetic.

Top 3 is my top 3, though in a different order.

Really surprised by Detroit. I'm looking forward to it, as I'm a sucker for those type of games and David Cage ones never fail to completely entertain me (even if not always for the right reason), but not really seen much excitement though.
