You all are understimating Metroid's importance. It will set the tone and tell "hardcore players" that the Switch is a console worth getting into. It's more than just direct sales numbers, it's about getting more people into their system.
If you ask me Metroid is for the kind of people who already have the system.

Animal Crossing and the like is what gets people to the system.

I shouldn't have to tell you how much people will misinterpret your post, but I think you should reword this. Kirby and Yoshi are 1st party titles releasing in 2018 already proves that your post isn't 100% accurate even if I get the general meaning of your post. Any other 1st party titles announced this here and your post will be used to discredit you.

Just saying.

Just to be clear because I don't want to confuse anyone.

2018 is still a good year for Nintendo first party content.

All I'm saying is 2018 leans heavily on third party content + ports of Nintendo stuff.

I'm going to be brutally honest with you.

Nintendo's strategy with 2018 is to rely on third party stuff + ports of Nintendo games.

They believe that's enough to hold them over until 2019 when they bring out the big guns. (Metroid, etc)

i don't like this. they need to keep switch momentum going and relying on too much 3rd party to carry them didn't work so well with wii u hell the big 3rd party games released on switch year 1 also I feel like didn't have much factor into selling well either

That's a pretty high-risk strategy, since it involves third parties actually showing up.

Might pay off if the ports include Smash and Mario Maker, though.

I'm back and I'm ready for ports and fire.

Shoutout to my true best friends for life who were in here pre-Chibi when everybody else was an unbeliever.

Smash confirmed. Honestly IDC at this point if it is Smash 5, or just port of Smash 4 with added new heroes.

I said this about 200 pages ago, but it's even more true now: this is one of the most fascinating cases of mass hysteria I've ever seen.

I've read almost every single comment in this thread, but it was your comment that stuck in my head as I was doing so. Watching the descent into madness... it's as fascinating is it is terrifying.

It is.

FE, Kirby, and Yoshi is a decent start.
Then AC is all but guaranteed imo. Since the mobile game.
I don't see a lack of 1st party games happening to be honest.

Also, what huge 3rd party games could be announced in 2018 and come out in 2018, that would be big needle shifters??

We already know MHW isn't happening (at least this year, if ever)
DQ11 up in the air for 2018.
FF7, KH3? No news so not likely happening.
No DBZ announcement yet.
Huge Western games? I doubt it. It can get CoD and Fifa I guess.

It would have to be new exclusives, which also seems unlikely for Switch's 2nd year considering how slow companies have been.
Yeah, I can't see any relevant third party title getting a Switch release. No company, outside indies and maybe Bethesda, is bothering with the system.

Don't miss this post guys, clarifying her earlier post.

Thanks for the clarification Emily.

Who started the fire Chibi thing? Did someone in this thread photoshop it and then Nintendo saw it? Or did it come from somewhere else?

Edit: People, I've seen the Nintendo tweet already. Sharing that again doesn't answer anything.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Chibi-Robo the Flaming? I thought not. It's not a story Nintendo would tell you. It's an ERA legend. Chibi-Robo was a Switch owner, so powerful and so wise he could use the ERA threads to influence Nintendo to create megatons… He had such a knowledge of the memes that he could even keep the games he cared about from being cancelled. The meme side of the internet is a pathway to many games some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught Weiner Mii everything he knew, then Weiner Mii cancelled his franchise. Ironic. He could save others from cancellation, but not himself.
About time someone posted this lmao.
