Because a lot of people seem to be getting new Switches:

Please don't overlook Splatoon 2. Literally the best online shooter ever made. Where Smash Bros. is fighting games + platforming + Nintendo magic, Splatoon is team based shooters + platforming + Nintendo magic. I cannot understate how much of a difference that gyro aiming makes. There is definitely a learning curve, but the single player campaign will get you most of the way there, and once you get used to it you won't want to go back (see all the people (like me) clamoring for gyro aiming in Doom). The sooner you jump in, the better, as the game is getting updated almost every week and Splatfests help the community stay vibrant. I've been playing since the first Global Testfire on the Wii U, and it quickly became my favorite game ever made (but Mario Odyssey might have barely squeaked by into first place ;P); when Super Mario Maker came out, the next week was a Splatfest that drew me away and I never really cared to start up Mario Maker since.

You do not want to miss Splatoon. I know it seems like a game where "it doesn't matter if you are good or not because you can help your team by just painting the floor at your base!", and while that is true to a small extent, the game is incredibly deep. Many reviewers and even the Treehouse folks tend to not do it justice, but when 2 teams of players that understand the game get together it is truly a great experience. If I still don't have you convinced, just watch what is possibly the most legendary game in Splatoon history, featuring some of the best western players (some members of Shin-Ryu went on to win the Splatoon 2 global invitational at E3 this year):

+1 on this. I skipped the first even though I had a WiiU. I have about 80 hours in and it's definitely a gem!

Agreed. I missed the first Splatoon, so Splatoon 2 has been amazing for me. It's right up there with BOTW and Odyssey as a major release for me, although I know for WiiU players it wasn't quite as fresh.

Definitely get Splatoon 2! Quite the time sink, so much fun. Wouldn't call it the best per se, but definitely worth the purchase.

Ugh i so regret selling mine when it didn't have as many games on it. I was not expecting the amount of support it has right now.

Someone in here said Mario & Rabbids is a rpg strategy game, what rpg elements does it have?

The other thing about Splatoon 2 is that its a game I can see myself coming back to over and over again. Kinda wish I had it digital like I do with MK8.

Yay for console threads. Cool to see so many Reseteras picking one up recently, really interested to see what the holidays are going to do.

First post here but got to say I love the Switch. Got it last week with the pro controller, Mario and Zelda. Have not touched my Ps4 Pro since..

Feel like I´m 12 again... ( I´m 38...)
Took me like five months to seriously fire up my PS4 again, and now the Switch won out again.

You collect skill points which are used to power up the characters' moves. I suppose the collecting of coins to buy new weapons is kind of an RPG element. Either way, the game is really good and definitely worth playing through. It gets pretty tough in the second half, and the game pushes you to switch team members for different battles.

Going to have to pile on with recommending this. Way too many people sleep on Splatoon, but it really is a game that's a blast to play regardless of skill level. I've had times I've turned it on, thought I was just going to have one or two matches, and suddenly two or three hours were gone. It's pretty much the only game that I can go back to any nearly time and not feel like I'm forcing myself to do it, too. It's just that fresh to pick up and play.

It doesn't matter if it's not Mario or Zelda, Splatoon 2 is totally worth a shot.

Got my switch before work today, haven't even played a game yet, but I adore everything about how it looks and feels. Can't wait to start BotW tonight.

Just pulled the trigger and bought MK8. Had my hesitations as I already owned it but another friend recently got a Switch with MK8 and seeing as their is no download play option like the DS games I figured I might as well buy it. I can't wait unlock my favourite combination. Waluigi on Mr Scooty!

Ok, I moved Rösti's original OP to the current OP. Not sure why the merge ended up doing what it did. If Rosti wants me to close this thread and start anew, I'll allow it, since I goofed up.

Switch is amazing and I'm loving every minute I play mine.

And it's even a whole year in yet.

I was hoping to acquire a Nintendo Switch this year but it appears that won't be happening due to insufficient funds. With that said, I am glad to see so many are enjoying this new system and its many great games (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey etc.). Maybe next year I can join the league of Switch owners.

Got a Switch a few days ago, with Odyssey and Kart 8D. Just ordered a copy of BOTW too. This little machine is cool as hell. Can't wait for Xenoblade 2, the first game is my 2nd fav of all time.

I'm looking to build my switch collection up, so should I buy ARMS, Splatoon 2 or FE: Warriors? I like the idea of all the titles but it's unlikely I'll end up doing much online content so that's pushing me toward FE but the last one of those I played was the first western one on the GBA. I do like the warriors titles though.

I just installed a glass screen protector on mine and they recommend not docking it for 48 hours because the heat might loosen it. It's gonna be a rough 48 hours. Probably a good time to clear every puzzle in Picross S in handheld mode.

Online content meaning online multiplayer? If you don't plan on playing online, then I would pick Fire Emblem Warriors. You don't really need any knowledge on past FE games to enjoy it.

Splatoon 2 is heavily dependent on online multiplayer. There's a single-player mode within but that will only keep you entertained for a few hours. Arms can be played locally but if you don't have someone to consistently play it with, it may not be so much fun.

Specifically Online multiplayer really. I thought FE would be the safest bet for single player.

Think of FE: Warriors as more a Warriors game then an FE. I know very little of the FE story line but still had fun with the game, and the local co op is a fun ability to.

I hope we get Virtual Console soon. Anyone think it's possible before Summer 2018? Or is that too generous of a guess. It has to be coming in 2018 right???

I'm hoping it's stealth launched for holiday this year, but that probably won't happen.

All I really want is Super Mario World on my Switch.

I gave it and Arms a shot. Hated them both. Splatoon's online component feels like amateur hour.
Turf War, especially before the matchmaking system puts you with people who actually know what they are doing, and C rank are definitely not as competitive as the later ranks.
If you are complaining about the design of the online, like how the maps rotate 2 every 2 hours, I promise you the development team made the controversial decisions on purpose to benefit the game. If Splatoon 2 had voice chat, the community would definitely be more toxic, like Overwatch, League, or basically any competitive game with voice chat. Nintendo wants their games to be playable by anyone, and that includes children and women.

Agreed. I missed the first Splatoon, so Splatoon 2 has been amazing for me. It's right up there with BOTW and Odyssey as a major release for me, although I know for WiiU players it wasn't quite as fresh.
Honestly I didn't want a major overhaul for the sequel. A continuation of the story, new maps and weapons, and refined balance (no more damage up and no Quick Respawn Super Jump meta!) were more than enough for me. I liken it to most other competitive online games- there's a reason why Call of Duty, Street Fighter, etc. don't drastically change between releases, but nobody really expects those games to improve as much as some expected of Splatoon.

Love my Switch. My software collection is pretty insane for one year.

I have Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, ARMS, MARIO + Rabbids, Splatoon 2, Snakepass, Sonic Mania, and Stardew Valley and I will be getting Fire Emblem Warriors and Super Mario Odyssey soon.

That's an absolutely insane year.

Anyone get the Nyko Boost Pak to fit comfortably with a glass screen protector? I picked up the Boost Pak yesterday and I'm about to return it because its so damn snug. I don't want to risk cracking the screen protector just to get the thing on

Could somebody explain to me the limits of Switch's region free? Particularly in terms of how accounts work.
You can create an American, an European, and a Japanese Nintendo account and link all of them to the same Switch. Then you can access the eShop through any of those accounts and all the games you purchase will be playable on your Switch. It's very easy to set up and you don't even have to worry about re-entering passwords after the initial setup.

The only recurring problem is that your Credit Card may or may not work in the eShop that's not your own, so you'll have to resort to buying eShop cards online. Keep in mind each account has its own money balance, with the currency matching the eShop's region.

Physical games all work on all regions. At least, I've never heard of a specific case of one not working.

i accidently spilled a whole cup of water directly onto my switch last night. the first thing i thought of was to blow dry it. i read online afterwards that might have added to potential damage.
it's tucked in a bag of rice right now
