Because a lot of people seem to be getting new Switches:
Please don't overlook Splatoon 2. Literally the best online shooter ever made. Where Smash Bros. is fighting games + platforming + Nintendo magic, Splatoon is team based shooters + platforming + Nintendo magic. I cannot understate how much of a difference that gyro aiming makes. There is definitely a learning curve, but the single player campaign will get you most of the way there, and once you get used to it you won't want to go back (see all the people (like me) clamoring for gyro aiming in Doom). The sooner you jump in, the better, as the game is getting updated almost every week and Splatfests help the community stay vibrant. I've been playing since the first Global Testfire on the Wii U, and it quickly became my favorite game ever made (but Mario Odyssey might have barely squeaked by into first place ;P); when Super Mario Maker came out, the next week was a Splatfest that drew me away and I never really cared to start up Mario Maker since.
You do not want to miss Splatoon. I know it seems like a game where "it doesn't matter if you are good or not because you can help your team by just painting the floor at your base!", and while that is true to a small extent, the game is incredibly deep. Many reviewers and even the Treehouse folks tend to not do it justice, but when 2 teams of players that understand the game get together it is truly a great experience. If I still don't have you convinced, just watch what is possibly the most legendary game in Splatoon history, featuring some of the best western players (some members of Shin-Ryu went on to win the Splatoon 2 global invitational at E3 this year):
