Yes, under George wiping out the Sith = bringing balance, because balance isn't about light and dark being equal, it's about the Force functioning harmoniously.

Luke learns a couple different lessons about the Force from non-Jedi in TLOLS.

First, in the form of "the Tide", he is taught the perspective that there is no light side and dark side but one big "tide" with ebbs and flows.

Secondly, from the Mist-Weavers, he hears this discussion about himself (which I've abridged):

"I sense a rot in the Mist.... There are...so many holes in the Mist. A darkness has come and corrupted it."

The pain of watching our beloved Mist so debased was wrenching.

"Bright-Heart means to restore the beauty of the Mist."

I think there is a natural "darkness" to the Force, but the corruption of it by Sith and others for their own purposes creates the "imbalance" or lack of harmony. Restoring the balance is restoring the Force to its natural state.
Huh.

With Luke's 'it's so much bigger' line after Rey mentions balance in the teaser, I got the impression they'll be exploring different aspects of the Force and how achieving balance isn't the be-all and end-all the Jedi once thought it was. That and the concept of the light/dark not being as important anymore.

Had a good Star Wars day off from work and watching my son by myself. Watched 4 episodes of Rebels and the Recon shows that came with them. Also watched the last 3 Star Wars shows.

Yaaas, new hair color and armor paint for Sabine...<ahem> I mean, interesting that they chose to change Sabine's look 5 episodes into the season.

And btw, Thrawn
standing and shooting at a tie fighter is just stupid. He has no powers. I really don't like that they write him as this ultimate bad ass.
Yeah but the part where Ezra falls into their path and just says "hey" and Thrawn simply replies "fascinating" was pretty great. The voice they chose for him was pretty perfect.

I started my journey through the cannon in chronological order and just finished Yoda's Secret War, which are issues 26-30 of Star Wars 2015 and I thought it was pretty boring. Some of the character designs were kind of neat, but nothing really happened. On to Darth Maul comic!

Kathy hints at the possibility that we'll get more movies with Rey past Episode 9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tm32FFFbAOk&feature=youtu.be&t=344
Yeah this was a well conducted interview. I've been impressed with the lady that does the SW show. She knows how to do it!

What I found interesting is that Kathleen specifically mentioned that the new movies after 9 would include the current cast (she mentioned them by name).

I'm not sure it was her intention, but that's fucking awesome. I hope they're all in a lot of movies together because they've got incredible chemistry that could definitely go beyond a trilogy.

What's funny is that i'd still be guessing. It's pretty awesome how much we don't know.

Oh this first story in The Legends of Luke book. I'm dying laughing here. Somebody telling their conspiracy theories about Luke Clodhopper and the O'Kenoby gang riding around the galaxy in the Century Turkey. Talking about how General Solo is rumored to be a bit of a rogue and would shoot first. New Republic govt purged any evidence of him that'd make him seem less than heroic. Alderaan's destruction was staged. If you examine the footage closely some shots show just a big ball of sparks and others show an expanding ring how could the same event have two different filmed versions? Clearly faked.

Loving this so far

I can't really explain why that story was great but I hated the similar meta-jokey ending to From A Certain Point Of View. Probably helps to have the comedy of Luke sitting there indulging that nonsense.

It's a really good book. Fun Luke adventures from the post-Battle of Jakku period the mainline comic isn't touching.

Watched the TV spot a bunch of times, really like what I'm seeing.

Also, anyone else excited for the campaign for Battlefront II? I've been wanting a big budget single-player Star Wars game for ages now, I really hope it delivers. After the news about Visceral Games and what's happening to their Star Wars games, I will be super disappointed if BFII's campaign is not good.

Oh yeah, and with KotOR being backwards compatible on the Xbox One now I started playing that again and it's just as good as I remembered. I'm hoping the sequel gets put on there too at some point.

Here here.

I didn't really care about Battlefront I aside from enjoying my time with the beta because I knew I wasn't going to play it since it was MP only. All I wanted back then was SP, so I'm pretty excited about it. The campaign stuff also looks pretty interesting, too, which is a plus.

Is anyone else starting to feel a little overwhelmed with Star Wars?

I want to be excited for the next entries, but the last two films haven't been particularly great.

Obviously The Force Awakens wasn't going to be amazing, as it was the reboot to kick things off again, but little things are really bothering me (outside of the mass marketing of all things Star Wars).

For example, the placement of Kylo's scar is out of place in The Last Jedi. Such a little detail like that shows that Disney isn't really that caring about the films and their quality (outside of ratings), but more the money they'll bring in through tickets and merch.

I have quite a few problems with Rogue One, as well, although I really can't be bothered to type them all out on my phone. So enjoy just the one little annoyance I mentioned.

The scar thing was Rian Johnson's decision. They tried with the scar in the place that it was in TFA but he felt it looked dumb, so he moved it. This had nothing to do with Disney.

And why do you think Disney (which is actually LucasFilm) doesn't care about the quality of the film? Let me ask you this, would a company that doesn't care about the quality of a film fire their directors 5 months into filming because they felt the movie wasn't good enough? They cared SO much about the quality of these films that they pushed The Force Awakens from May to December because JJ wanted more time. They cared so much about the quality of these films that they had MASSIVE amount of re-shoots for Rogue One's third act (which ended up being highly praised). They cared SO much about the quality of Episode 9 that after multiple rewrites of the script, and bringing in a new person to help out the old director, they ended up bringing back JJ and a new team because the old one wasn't good enough.

What exactly have they done that tells you that they just don't care about the quality of the films? That Rian Johnson moved a scare to be more visually appealing?

Why would Kylo Ren, quite literally the bad guy, need to look visually appealing, unless you're planning on selling his looks via merch to the widest demographic possible?

His scar now looks nothing but a slightly edgy mark to appeal to teenagers that crush on his looks.

He'd look much more sinister if his facial disfigurements stayed as disfigurements.

Attention to detail matters. It says a lot about quality and dedication. This is like changing the positioning and shape of Harry Potter's scar for no actual reason after two or three films.

Because he's the bad guy and it looked "goofy".

Why do you want the bad guy to look goofy?

Which is why Rian Johnson moved it, because details matter. Do you honestly think details don't matter to Rian Johnson? That he's half assing this movie and moved a scar to sell toys? And appealing doesn't mean he has to look pretty, because he doesn't even look pretty right now, he has nightmare fuel mechanical stitches.

I highly doubt it looked 'goofy'. Unappealing? Yes. But that would've made him more intimidating as a villain.

What's goofy is having a giant cut run across a character's face and then the next film having the scar in a completely different area.

Why'd they even get Rian Johnson to direct when it seems like you know more about his own decisions than he does.

Using that logic how could you ever have been excited for more Star Wars after the prequels?

For example, the placement of Kylo's scar is out of place in The Last Jedi. Such a little detail like that shows that Disney isn't really that caring about the films and their quality (outside of ratings), but more the money they'll bring in through tickets and merch.

Again, if inconsistencies with previous movies annoys you then how did you survive the prequels. Also, Lucasfilm is in control, not Disney, and selling merch has been a staple of these movies since ANH. Are you suggesting George Lucas didn't really care about the films and their quality?

So me pointing out blatant carelessness for quality and detail pushes you to that type of response? Great.
How is it carelessness if he looked at both options and he went with the one he liked? Carelessness is something you're injecting when the evidence says otherwise. Help me understand how he doesn't care, when he cared enough to change something because he didn't liked how it looked, isn't that literally the opposite of not caring? If you don't care, you just don't bother with it but he bothered with it. He doesn't care so he went as far as to explain WHY it was changed so the fans knew? That's someone that doesn't care in your eyes?
