Why does this game, focused mainly on singleplayer (according to the developers) needs a forced Internet connection even on console? My Internet is shitty enough and this forced online crap is as necessary as a nasty flue at the beginning of a year.
I think it's a Diablo style thing where the single player and multiplayer stuff goes back and forth and you use the same equipment for both. On PC it could cause a lot of cheating and stuff. Not that I agree with it but it's not the only game to use this logic.

Thanks for clearing things up a little with your theroy. Makes sense for me while it still sucks, of course.

Well, it's better than losing the progress. Question is, will it really work without flaws?

No reviews yet? Crazy. The game bummed me out really hard on all of the menuing and fencing and 1-2ing the spear on the crystals and watching the 2d white circle, not to forget the lo-ve-ly ro-bot voi-ces tha-t don-'t st-op.

Goodluck (pun intended) to those that liked it.

Can't wait to dig into this with my boyfriend tomorrow. It's his first Metal Gear game since MGS1 back in the day*, and we had a lot of fun with the beta over the weekend. Really looking forward to this.

*Yes, I know this isn't anywhere near being a traditional Metal Gear, but meh

Really hyped to play this game with my co-op buddies - we had a great time on the beta.

It's a shame co-op aspect is only restricted to horde mode, I was hoping for more, but putting that slight issue aside, definitely didn't change my mind since the beta and I'll be buying day one.

I'm still in the beginning so I can't speak on the variety of missions. This is still considered the tutorial.

2 side missions popped up but it was just "go and hunt some animals." Again, because this is the tutorial, they were just showing me one of the ways to collect food and water.

Hunger and Thirst are 2 important things. Hunger affects your Life and Thirst affects your Stamina. When you're running low, your max Life and Stamina will decrease. Eating and drinking will help with this.

When you hunt and kill an animal, you can eat it raw to gain some hunger but there's a chance you may get poisoned. When you find animal meat, take it back to your base and cook it using the campfire. It'll give you more towards your hunger. For example, if raw meat gives you 300 points towards recovering your Hunger, cooking it will give you 700 points.

Same with water. You can find dirty water easily, and that may give you 500 points towards your Thirst but using the campfire to clean it will give you 900 points.

There are also berries you may find around the map that can give you both Hunger and Thirst points when eaten.

If your health is low, you can recover it by standing still or by walking. If you run, you won't recover it.

You can also capture animals alive using the Wormhole Extraction device. You can build a livestock facility (which isn't unlocked yet) and they would go there. Otherwise, they are transported back as meat. Not sure if you gain more using this.

I kinda want to buy it. But only if there's more co-op mission types. I feel like horde would get boring if its the only thing

There are streams happening right now that show a lot of stuff. The first hour of the game with 30min cutscenes is also in the OP
Also if you don't mind to be spoiled on one of the appearances of a non-zombie enemy, watch this

That was the complete opposite of what I was expecting , interesting

That OT. I swear that these get more brilliant with each new game that comes out.

I don't want to start hating on the game right away, but going off of the early first impressions, part of me definitely has concerns. Hell, I got torn apart by random people because apparently "I didn't get it" and "You should play the beta before shitting on it!" even though I did play it and didn't find it that remarkable to start with. Mind you that MG as a whole never did click with me and if it turns out that it is a good game, I got no problem with eating my words. With the way development has been and what information we've had, it doesn't leave much of a vote of confidence for me.

Man between that OT title and the image credits, this is just awesome, cool to see there is at least this good thing in the darkest timeline for MGS franchise we live in.

This is how base building works, at least in the very beginning.

You can deconstruct everything, except the middle part, so you can start fresh. You'll get materials back for doing so.

Building anything costs materials and Kuban points. If you want to build a campfire, you'll use 5 pieces of Iron, 5 pieces of Wood and 50 KUB points. If you want fences all around, you can do that. As you progress, I'm sure you'll open up more things to build.

Here's some random shots:

Wow the enemy reveal, Spooky! I cant wait to start this up tomorrow on the ps4. Never really played "survival" type games so i'm worrying about all this dirty water stuff in sp, lol. Might need some co-op buds though, everyone on my list is still yelling "fuck Konami" at me.

So the day 1 update that lets us start the game went up. It's around 3 gigs.

You receive 2 bonus accessories just for making a player during the beta:

And Metal Gear Rex:

Sorry if the pictures look weird. I took them at 4k and (if I did it right, using Abload) converted it to 1080. This is from the X1 version, btw.

Currently playing story mode and they definitely ease you into everything. I know the beta was overwhelming but you'll have an easier time starting a new game.

Speaking of new game, if you go back to the shots above, you'll see 3 locked icons above my name. In order to start a new game with a new character (in case you don't want to delete your main) you have to spend SV coins, which is where the microtransactions come in.

It's 1000 SV coins but I don't know what that equals in real money since the store isn't up yet. (They do note that there will be times where we will receive free SV coins.) There's also an in-game SV coin shop where you can purchase boosters that stay in effect for 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or 60 days. These boosters help you get more Kuban Energy, more resources and more battle points. Whenever the store is up and running, I'll check to see how much real world money this is.

I'll come back in a few and talk about some things from story mode.

So if there's five classes (survivor, assault, named from datamining, and then the crosshair, medic symbol, and wrench symbol) you have to pay to make a character for the other classes? Or is it more like skill trees, and in the end you can get them all? Or can you switch classes with the same guy?

If I'm reading this right, you might need to spend money to start a new save file?

your character apparently gains enough levels to have all skills

You need to get a new slot if you want to start a new savefile without deleting your character first. So that way you can have two characters at the same time

I'm interested to see how this turns out considering all the controversy, I almost played the beta but didn't have much time. I did watch some of the streams but I didn't really understand what I was watching to be honest UI looked really convoluted.

That still sounds like a fairly big deal to me.
Maybe thread worthy?
Not necessarily. Lots of games nowadays only give you one save slot. Phantom Pain did that. Could always get around that by creating a new profile if you really want another save file. Still weird that Konami chose this small thing to nickle and dime people on.

It was in MGO, and if you get SV coins weekly, you would eventually get enough to make a new character without paying for anything.

I'm not interested in the game at the moment (except if by some miracle reviews are good) but that OT title is amazing. It nearly justifies that game h

Everyone else, enjoy the game.

Jeez, people these days want any little reason to throw a tantrum and push hatred on a game.

We don't even know what is actual going on yet, but sure! Let's jump to a conclusion and create a thread so we can all just whine even more.

What exactly are you talking about?

All I said was that a section of his post contained some worrying information about the game and that it may be worth a thread. Nobody is "throwing a tantrum." Relax.
