1440p support for Xbox One X and Xbox One S (the last one is a surprise as I thought it would only be the One X to get this support) incoming in Preview ...

I didn't have the S. It was only OG X1 to X1X. What I meant by complete is that every game and all the updates were installed except Overwatch which size was around 14GB
yes well thats what im saying, the updates were done on the previous xbox if you had that option enabled. So you probably only had overwatch left to do.

Thought I saw an ad a few days ago about GameStop offering $250 trade credit toward the X, but can't seem to find that information anywhere.
So two questions:

Bought mine yesterday for €475 in Belgium, crazy if you take the inflated GPU prices and RAM price in to consideration, it's actually "good value" now an X... :-D
Yeah but the games were on the external hard drive and all of them worked fine when switching to X1X apart from OW. What's weird is that the game size is same as launch
In my opinion even without those RAM and GPU prices the One X already was a good value.
Think my X is dying. It will not display in 4k. It will go blank then come back then go black again, over and over. If I switch to 1080p it works fine. Tried many HDMi cables, bought new ones (18Gb) same thing. It used to only do it when playing a game, now its all the time. Switched HDMI ports, same. My PC works fine using the same cables, same HDMI ports so its not the monitor.

Why do people recommend not enabling YCC 4:2:2? The Ps4 uses the same in HDR and from what I can find online, it has a higher color resolution than 4:2:0. So what's the drawback?

Just needed a hard boot because wireless stopped working and settings wouldn't work. Strange.
I can't speak for other people, but with my Samsung TV and that option checked, my tv would flash a blank screen every now and then (quite often) and the sound would cut out like... imagine if it were switching inputs you get that pause before the video and audio show up, except it wasn't switching inputs. It was really, really irritating. It has not happened since I unchecked that box.

About to get an X (for SoT) and I can get one game with it. I wa s looking at AC or SoW, but not sure if I want another open world game like those. Not really into racers.

Yeah it's really great with friends. Me and my brother 100% it and it was a blast.
I just bought one but I'm really beginning to get the feeling the X has some reliability problems. Definitely has me worried.
Does anyone know if the Microsoft stores will handle warranty stuff for you? For example, if my X broke could I just walk into a Microsoft store and swap it for a new one? Because if they do that I'll feel much better because I'm only 30 minutes from one of their stores.

My understanding with Elite controllers is that they have swapped them out pretty easily, so it's possible this could be the case for the X too.
Anyone get the gamestop Xbox one x promo code for a free game or gift card ? I'm totally willing to toss a few bones to anyone not using it.... will be greatly appreciated but gonna grab one this Friday. Anything new that looks tasty in 4k? I already have forza h3 &7, Also the game pass games, db fighter z, pes, and am looking for something that might make my eyes cry tears of hdr glory. Much appreciated
Yeap, IMO wildlands patched is great. Game has the biggest open world ever in a game, and the enhancements do look good.

I recently got my X and love it, but it may have an issue reading discs and I'm not sure whether to return it or not.
I bought Agents of Mayhem as it was really cheap and I wanted to see how it looked in HDR - the disc arrived, brand new with the box in shrink wrap and I went to install it - but the console kept stopping the installation at exactly 2.0GB installed, every time. The disc would stop spinning and then the dash would show "Installation Stopped". Resuming it would make the drive spin up the disc again for a few seconds before stopping and showing the same message, with no more data installed. I can see no signs of scratches or defects on the disc, and have tried cleaning it more than once, along with deleting the part-installed game and trying again from scratch, but the installation still stops at that exact same point each time.
At first I thought it was the disc itself, but I tried it on my old launch XB1, and it installed the full game without issues. So I'm worried this may indicate a problem with the X's disc drive. Strangely though it seems to have no issues with any other disc based games I've tried, none have produced errors or failed to install, even following the Agents of Mayhem issue. Is it possible there is just something the console doesn't like about that specific disc (or the preview update could have affected the install somehow, as silly as that sounds), but it could otherwise work normally? Gears of War 4 looks incredible and even has a 60fps mode. The HDR is some of the best I've seen in any game.
I was waiting as well, so I eventually messaged the owner of the club directly and they accepted my request. :)
To bad I am all digital but my recommendation would be asking for a replacement of the console but before that trying another game disc if it happens there too.
Picked up the Xbox One X today! So hyped to do my first play through of The Witcher 3 as I stopped like 15% in. Also my first playthroughs of Gears 4 and Quantum Break. I think I had 19 enhanced games to check out so I've been downloading them all. Also can't wait to race around in Forza Horizon 3! Hype yo

The stores will I believe. There aren't any in the UK that I know of, certainly not in Glasgow, so I'm out. There's a big thread on the One X issue on overclockers UK which doesn't inspire confidence - several folk have had multiple failures. I'm awaiting repair on my second console, so 3rd time lucky.
It seems the E105 error which is most common (the E102 is often a symptom of E105) is caused by a bad hard drive. So in that regard it's not so much the build quality of the console as the shitty HDD they ship with (which disappointingly isn't user replaceable). Fingers crossed they had a bad batch of HDDs and that when my Scorpio edition is repaired I'll get a new HDD. Sadly, despite using external drives for games, the internal one still has the OS and game saves, so if it goes, the console goes.
I bought the Witcher 3 again for the second time, already owning it on my PS4/PS4Pro. It looks great on the Xbox X, but I'm still finding it slow and kinda boring.
Thanks - I'm mostly digital too, but do have some disc games. The ones I've tried since the Agents of Mayhem issue (Forza 6, Forza 7 and FF Type-0) have all worked fine without issues.
That's why I'm not sure if it's some strange issue with the Agents disc itself, but the fact it works on my old console makes me doubt that. I guess I'll just see if it happens again with another disc in the future.

After a bit of back and forth with the retailer they agreed to exchange my unit for a brand new one (even though I had bought it at launch).
However this new unit has slight fan noise that I can hear. It's not excessive but my first one was whisper quiet so this is a bit disappointing. Not sure what to do. I think i can just about put up with it. Slightly concerned that I'd get a worse one if I did try and exchange it again.

You're probably better off just keeping that one unless the sound is really irritating. I can hear the fans on my X. Certainly not loud at all, but if the room is very quiet I can hear them.
I was going to sell it to someone else for more. He offered to buy it if I let him pay in three payments of $50. So I said sure. No need to judge lol. He's 25yo, he can afford it.
