At this point, my biggest problem is the water and food mechanic. Food is always easy enough to find since you can harvest black carrots from food or find gerbils running along the ground and just fry them up back at base camp but it seems like I'm currently in an endless loop of dropping to 10% on my thirst meter, being forced to drink dirty water, then winding up with an intestinal infection that can only be cured with medicine that you can hardly ever find.

Big question. Can you go online to get some of the materials for single player that you may need? If its anything like the beta you get a ton of resources for S ranking, unless that stuff doesn't carry back over. Not that it excuses what might be a poor design decision.

I haven't tried it yet but if I recall correctly, there was some wording in a tutorial earlier than made it seem as if you could carry materials between modes. It would definitely help me considering I've been barely surviving major encounters for a while since my guy likes to stop and vomit right when a horde of Wanderers comes around.

But ultimately, yeah, they should have allowed you to purify water at your base from the get-go.

Play this alongside the Main series, no reason you cant try it out at least, looks promising to me, but I too am not fussed about Kojima so I won't boycott a game because he's not attached to it (not saying that to you personally), not to mention MGS V was atrocious and that had Kojima attached to it.

There's no real reason for me to play it. It's not like it has established MGS characters or is going to contribute to the law. It's really not my kind of game, I don't like zombie shooters or tower defence.

I agree about V and Kojima.

Didn't really like the multiplayer stuff in the beta, but am interested in how the single player turns out.

No difficulty selector.

In my 8 hours of playtime, I haven't had any trouble. I did die a few times but that was me being careless. Not crafting any fences and being stubborn by just using a spear, lol.

Other than that, nothing hard...for now.

The Mist adds a layer of difficulty..kinda sorta. It's darker so it's a little harder to see things. You also can't see yourself on the map, nor can you place a marker to help guide you. You can, however, run towards these lights you see in the sky, which helps you get out of the Mist.

As long as you craft things and upgrade your equipment, you should be fine. Early game is where you'll find the most difficulty since you have your hunger and thirst to worry about. You'll eventually get that under control as well.

I've been having a great time with the game.

Great look pretty good, i just don't want the game to be a cakewalk, usualy i get tired of easy open world game. If the game is challenging enough i think i'll have a good time, thank for the share !

So i got confirmation now on
-an "Assault" enemy who is taller than regular Wanderers, can not be backstabbed when alerted to your presence and uses his right arm as a mortar, a shotgun and a shield
-a "dragonfly sniper" that kinda looks like a weird dragonfly, has a laserpointer and shoots 5.56 ammo at you when it spots you
- a human enemy that is decked out in gear and shoots/melees you

There's clues to suggest that Kojima's new game has ties to stuff he was looking into in 2014 with his Iceland trip, whether that was for Silent Hills or something else, very curious to see if any more similarities emerge between this game and DS.

Edit, actually looking at the mod edit maybe I shouldn't go there, please delete if so.
I mean, even without reading the mod edit, this is a no kojima related product, bringing him back is just white noise at this point

Man there are some very very VERY long "codec" cutscenes in this that are basically just non moving imagines with people talking about them.
We also just learned the story behind Dite.
The game is actually set in the 22nd century. Not in an alternate dimension. The Dust and the monsters are all because of (i can't believe I am writing this) Nanomachines.

Remember to check your storage box. You may have materials/items that you didn't know were there.

Also, in one of the crafting tables (I think the Gear one?) you can craft certain materials from other material. For example, if you need Steel, you can craft some using Iron.

I played the beta over the weekend. I felt pretty lost when I first started. I didn't know how to craft walls because they're included in the gadgets crafting table. I didn't know what the hell the digger was doing. There are a lot of menus that look like you should be able to do something in them, but they're just status menus and separate from other menus that you can do actions in. There's an MGS3 style healing/medical menu. There are so many menus; it's very disorienting at first. There are so many options to sift though and it's a lot to take in.

I will say the multiplayer was actually pretty fun. You definitely have to work together to win all 3 rounds. I think after getting though the learning curve it's a decent experience. I don't know if I'm going to buy it yet, but I'm tempted.

If that is actually true then that's easily the best thing I've ever heard

I don't know if the beta helped or hurt people's opinions. Too much given out at once. Story mode definitely helps with that.

In regards to the digger, in the beta it was just there. For story mode, they explain what it is and you actually have to go and retrieve it.

Alot of things you may have questioned in terms of the mechanics are better explained during single player. Much better job at easing you into things and getting a hang of what you currently have, while slowly introducing new things. It can still be overwhelming but nothing like the beta.

...and I agree with the comments regarding dirty/clean water. It wasn't until 8 hours later where I got the option to cook clean water. You can probably get it sooner if you just stick to the main quests. I mentioned checking your storage cause if you were to get ill from the dirty water, you'll have items to cure yourself there.

You know what, I'm not even mad. I'm just even more sold on this game than I was before I read this.

The PC version can't unlock soon enough. So excited for this.

Hoo boy, I'm gonna have to give this a pass for the time being then. I thought the beta was OK, if very close to the FortNite PVE mode, but going back to the silliest plot point in Metal Gear again I think is my tipping point. It's amazing in a game with this many ridiculous plot elements, I can still find something that makes my eyes roll this hard.

I might pick it up down the line, depending on post-launch support.

This entire game will have been worth it if it leads into Metal Gear Rising 2 with Raiden fighting Nanomachine monsters in a post apocalyptic wasteland.

Work in 2B somehow as a cameo.

...It's a dedicated Metal Gear channel - their sole purpose is playing Metal Gear games.

Yeah, and they're great at what they do, but they're still constantly and aggressively negative about all non-Kojima-directed titles (and MGSV a little bit too).

Does the stream title really need to be "fuck everything about this"?
