God I really wish you could turn off the motion controls in this game. Doing the post game koopa races is so annoying when you have to shake to roll fast and he ends up throwing his hat instead. I really hope they patch this stuff out because it's incredibly stupid to map several things to shaking the controller.

I truly feel bad for anyone who was spoiled on
the festival in New Donky City.

For only being halfway or so through the game, that is probably one of my all-time favorite gaming moments. So awesome.

So there's nothing that unlocks if you find all the moons?

You do unlock something for getting all 999 moons.
You get a hat on Princess Peach Castle, 500 is the max that players needs to unlock new kingdom and I already have 200+ Moon shine and close to 300 and I am nowhere close to finishing the game.

There is one other thing.

If you get all the objective moons (not extras bought from the store) there's an extra fight with Bowser, it's the same fight just a tiny bit harder due to him changing the amount of times he does things

After collecting over 500 moons I JUST found out that if you throw cappy right after doing a butt stomp he goes a lot further. Pretty cool.

Well that stinks because I'm never jumping this rope 100 times.

Oh man the New Donk City
festival
was great!

This game keeps being charming and fun as hell. Up to 178 moons.

I'm probably super late but I learned ground throw happens if you throw cappy right after a ground pound and that if you jump the moment cappy returns to you, Mario jumps higher. I love that I'm still learning things about the controls.

As someone who started on the original Super Mario Bros as a kid, I can safely say this is the best Mario game of all time.

God I cannot beat
the second Koopa race in the lake kingdom. They all just get ahead of me in the underwater tunnel

There's a good shortcut you can take here if you good at manoeuvring Mario. you can do a butt slam jump from the mound of yellow sand at the start on the left, throw your hat dive on it, dive again and you can get onto that wall (as the stairs will be missing in race mode)

So I'm circling back and getting additionally moons in kingdoms (I've beaten the game). I have every moon except for one in Cascade Kingdom and both the parrot and the Toad don't have any other hints left. What am I missing? How come I can't get a hint for it?

EDIT: Never mind, I ended up looking it up.

I finally did it. I might suck at platformers and I may have thought about giving up a few times, but after an hour or two of trying, I beat the very last world in the game. Dang, it was real rough for me.

The ending. THE ENDING. That was another tier of awesomeness!

Okay I wasn't sure if I liked this better than Galaxy, I have a thing for space themed glittery environments. But the ending sequence into the credits totally pushed it over the edge for me. Wow... what an adventure with one of the most satisfying ending. It wasn't mindblowing but you just can't stop smiling going through it. I now have the ending sequence music blasting on repeat. Best 3D Mario game in my book.

Post game spoiler question.

What is with the Buy 10 moons in the store? I bought 10. Did I just fuck something up?

Man, the post game...

I know I shouldn't think of all the added moons any differently than the original set, but somehow they feel less satisfying to track down. Is it just because I've already explored these worlds? I dunno.

Yeah I'm confused about that too actually

Yeah, i feel the same way, they are still fun, but i have to slow down a little bit to not get burned out by the game. I think i'm gonna collect just a few moons a day from now on.

There aren't 999 unique moons. The game allows you to buy a bunch of generic moons, to both allow players to unlock some end game content without getting some moons the traditional way if they desire (I don't recommend this, as the game has more than enough manageable moons to collect and you really only need 500 to see the vast majority of the game's content) and there's also a small reward for having a total of 999 moons. I wouldn't buy any extra moons (beyond the first moon you purchase in each kingdom) until you've gotten 100% of the moons in the game world. Otherwise, you're just wasting money.

Edit - I don't really consider any of the above to be "spoilery", but I went ahead and tagged it anyway.

Whoa, I just bought like 20 moons in the shop. I thought you could only buy 1. Is there a limit? Or is this just a way to like artificially boost my moon count? I'm gonna be pissed if I've shorted myself some gameplay.

Buying those doesn't remove any from the game world. It's just a way to unlock some content more quickly.
