Thanks man! Oh jeez, I'm hoping that's a toggle... or will eventually become one after being brought up as a problem!
so it's way too expensive... but what's bad about the phone version so i can get even more reason not to buy it? lol

For people who did a refund, here's another game that is going to be released today and looks to be a good steam port :)
There wasn't any mention of a toggle so you might have to hope for a mod that manages to remove that, if it's not applied natively into every sprite and tileset

Just for grins, I pulled up CT in SNES9x next to it and good god people, how hard is this?
The game shouldn't look nicer in a free emulator running a rom from 20+ years ago than it does in the port you just released for $15.

My favourite part is that the birds, clouds and boat aren't even filtered. That tells me they put in actual special effort to make the rest uglier.
Nice tiling errors in the trees.
Well unlike this and FFs 4-6 the UI on the phone version of FFT doesn't look too bad so probably not
Oh, well that's a bummer, hard skip on this. This reminds me of the horrible VC console, NES releases Nintendo did on the Wii U.
Would be cool if they actually tried with these ports. Adding the DS dungeons is not exactly a win.
Doesn't this release indicate that they are looking for more mobile ports and thereby Tactics is more likely to be released?
The very few Steam reviews that exist are already shitting on the port. Hopefully more come in.

There really is no limit to how cheap Squareenix is when it comes to the treatment of their timeless classics.
Nah FF6 PC corrupts itself as you play so unless this does that too nope.

My tweets are blowing the fuck up right now, but I think this might be the worst that Square Enix has ever treated one of their ports.
The title screen has bad tearing from the get go.
Tiles don't even begin to match up.
Characters are a blurry mess, the text is difficult to read.
The character sprites have one filter, the background tiles have another, and then things like the flags, Leene's bell, and the shine on Marle's pendant don't have any filtering at all.
What the fuck is even going on here?

Rlan put together what is arguably the best way to handle this treasure of a game. Keep things faithful, but update simple aspects (like the aspect ratio) to meet modern expectations.
If you want to play Chrono Trigger in its best official way, grab the DS version. Lots of improvements over the PSX version and an updated translation that has a slightly more faithful take.
If you want to play Chrono Trigger in its best unofficial way, grab a Wii U, the DS version of Chrono Trigger, and use homebrew to play the top screen on your TV and the touch screen on your Wii U Gamepad.
But whatever you do, don't buy this version of the game.
