Yeah, it's a real shame but I don't blame anyone for leaving. Like it or not, esports, and being a gamer personality is a business and Halo doesn't have the draw that it used to, that and we're 2 years into this games cycle, and we're probably not getting a new game for at least another year, really kills the excitement. 343 needs to do something to reinvigorate some interest, whether that's partnering with MLG for HCS, or announcing the new title or something. Just something to get people to care again. Why would you stay with Halo/HCS when you see the success, money and reach of CoD and MLG and the CoD World League? Huke will get ten times the oppotunities, sponsorships, and streamers now. A brand new CoD game versus continuing in H5 which no one really watching. It is why Enable and Formal left.
Oddball is too fun, but the idiocy of some teammates is mind boggling. Obviously a problem in all objective playlists, but given the simplicity of this gametype it' more frustrating.
I die getting a triple kill. Then watch my teammate 'guarding' the oddball for 8 seconds, without picking it up. We needed 8 seconds to win.

Please tell Phil to bring back Fable.I had players try to betray me for the ball. Feels like the olden days.
I'm off to new York to launch* the Scorpio.

I feel like a dummy, but I have no idea how this thing is supposed to work. I typed in the name and clicked the enter arrow, but it never showed up on my browser list.Local server is released.

Not because I don't understand how the mode works, but because holding the ball is kinda boring. I'll do it if we're losing and need the points or we're about to win. However, if we're massively in the lead I generally leave it for others to pick up...

Remember, if you see a rat and cat fighting, don't follow them; it's a trap. They'll steal your wallet. And your dignity.I had players try to betray me for the ball. Feels like the olden days.

Mention HaloERA in the message if your GT is different from your username here if you could.
I'll be playing in about 2.5 hours if anyone wants to join.
I have professors who would slap the stuffing outta you, not labeling the Y axis like that.I actually enjoy the tuned weapons, but the BR is just bad, and the storm rifle is now more OP than ever.
The adding random spread to the BR was extreme overkill. The RRR and burst rate changes already acted as a nerf- why also make the gun inconsistent? Precision weapons should be precice.
The Storm rifle should be taken out of the game. Its tier 3. I'm not sure how someone could see its position in this chart and say " this looks good guys"
Please don't sick them on me. sketch posted this on waypoint!!!I have professors who would slap the stuffing outta you, not labeling the Y axis like that.
I assume it's TTK, in which case the obvious answer is to dramatically drop health damage on the SR to push overall TTK up to around the AR max.
And add Plasma Stun.

Yeah it is TTK. I think the answer is too slow the projectiles WAY down. That way it's actually possible to miss.
Yeah, the chart is from Waypoint; the text included there with it was:
"This chart above represents all of the perfect kill times as well as the least efficient or suboptimal kill times. Suboptimal is defined by landing every single shot from a weapon but never landing a headshot."
Figured it was something like that.
Slowing down projectiles is good, but it wouldn't solve the perfect TTK problem, just make landing a perfect TTK harder. Slower projectiles coupled with lower health damage would probably do it.
Halo 5 is lookin' pretty good at 4K. Linking the images for those on mobile.

Halo Wars 2 doesn't look too bad, either. I can't upload the gameplay screenshots I took, though, they're all over 15 megabytes. :lol
But honestly, Halo 3's changes are most impressive. Really brings out the detail Bungie put in there all those years ago. Look at how the Ark is actually a solid object in this shot, not just painted on the background.

Nothing
Nothing wrong with not grabbing an objective if you're better serving your team by doing things you're good at. I give a lot of thought to random team behaviors and lots of things are excusable that wouldn't be if you went in with friends. I tend to grab the ball and flag because I'm better at dodging and jumping and frustrating players than I am at shooting or ad how strategizing. It's probably a frustrating look to strangers, but I tend to do well so it might be a wash.
I will say that the single worst possible behavior, in some ways worse than betraying, is berating strangers for not being good enough. I probably encounter that jerk every five or six games. "None of you idiots have mics, leave the sniper alone that's mine, why didn't you protect me, wah wah wah " It INVARIABLY makes the team play WORSE, and nobody wants to help that guy. I've even sent polite messages after the game noting the negative effects if that kind of commentary.
You can probably guess how most folks react. Funniest thing about it is that guy tends to never finish in first place on his team anyway.
I
Almost lost a massive lead because it seemed like my entire team was doing that. They'd leave it to someone else, and that someone else ended up being the enemy.
If people are gonna choose to play an objective gametype, it would be nice if they would play the objective.
If crouching in corner with the ball isn't ones cup of tea, they can pick it up when necessary, then drop it and slay when the opportunity presents itself. There's no reason being the ball carrier should be boring if you are playing right.
Oh man, I don't think I've ever seen a player who was constantly complaining at their teammates actually perform well. There's a strong correlation with shitty attitude and poor gameplay based on my experience.
I do grab the ball if I think I need to, however, if a teammate is there 9/10 times I'll shoot the ball to tell them to pick it up. It's usually because my teammates are useless at slaying, a recent game I played I had more kills than the rest of my team combined.
I am enjoying Oddball more in H5 than in previous games though because the ball holder can move at base movement speed rather than being slowed down, makes holding the ball more interesting imo.
I also think how much I enjoy holding the ball is very dependent on the map in question. For example I found holding the ball on Riptide or Mercy rather dull because there's not many opportunities for clever movement. Just had an amazing match on Eden where I found holding the ball to really entertaining as there are so many ways to duck and move around.
After a number of Halo 5 games I can safely say it's not for me. I've always swung in the direction of vehicular combat and BTB style gameplay and none of the current maps in rotation really fill that void for me. I really am not a fan of running to a base to spawn stuff either. Doesn't sit right with me at all. I prefer the old fight for power or at least both sides getting the same tools to duke it out with. Another thing I have constant trouble with is the aiming. It feels off constantly and like I'm not in full control of where I point the gun. Maybe a good controller settings change could remedy this but I didn't enjoy the game enough to put time into sorting that out.
I decided to jump back into Halo 4 and drown my sorrows with the blood of mongoose splattered enemies instead. I'm really surprised at how well splattering registers on Halo 4 still, especially given the lower player count and how often I'm thrown in with people from other regions.
But how does it play/feel?
feels very good, not quite PC version good but better than S and stock x1 forge maps especially with what little time i've had feel alot better
