Ok I think I'm done. Final two [postgame] area spoilers
I attempted the Dark Side. Even went and got a 6-piece heart before starting the battle with the first floor Rabbid. He got me down to 1 health and when I realized it was a boss rush at the 2nd floor I knew I was fucked. How many floors are there?

Skipped over to the Darker Side after that. Was feeling good with the welcoming party and everything. Got to the lava and nope'd after not even passing the 4th sinking climbing pole.

I've got around 630 stars and I think I'm finished, for now.

There are five floors. Four against all the rabbits, then a final battle against their super mech. Luckily the other three rabbits are MUCH easier. The green one is so much more annoying than the others it's ridiculous, hahaha. The mech is pretty easy if you keep your distance.

Just beat
darker side of the moon. What a fantastic level. In terms of difficulty it's a big step down from the last few true final stages of 3D Mario games, but it's surely the most fun of them all and strikes a really good balance. Very satisfying.

Hmm I was just going to post a different take on this. You're right about it being way easier than previous games, and I think that makes it a lot less fun than the other secret final levels. Champions Road was incredibly challenging and rewarding to beat. Each section had a pretty high chance of dying which made each run intense. For this one, there are several sections where there is almost 0% chance of dying. I've loved everything else about the game so far, but that level was definitely a blemish to me.

Beat the main game final boss. This game is so much fun. The final fight and sequences were great. I am looking forwards to tackling the post game content.

Also

Whoever was behind the design and theme of Bowser's Kingdom, my hats off to you. I also wasn't expecting another vocal theme at the end of the game.

600+ moons! Still have to revisit Woodland, Donk, Luncheon and Bowser's kingdom for cleanup, but I'm happy with this count for now. Time for a little break.

Yeah, it definitely wasn't great and felt super anticlimactic after how climactic Galaxy 2 and 3D World felt with their final levels. It was really easy, and only took me three tries, the last of which I made it past the last few sections on my first try. I was also a little disappointed that

it didn't have a final portion that had Gusty Garden Galaxy music playing. But that's not really the games fault so I don't want to bash it for that. Just what I personally expected

The final level and the challenges leading up to it being so easy definitely hurt the final product, in my opinion, whereas in Galaxy 2 and 3D World, they pushed them over the top to make them incredible for me and made them all the more memorable. Odyssey is still an incredible game, and one of my GOTYs, but it definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.

Popping in to say fuck the jump rope genius moon. I've only made it to 63 jumps. I'm getting all the coins and moons before I move onto the next kingdom, and this one is just unfair.

i keep seeing lots of youtuber say that there's 830 moons... where does this number come from? I'm pretty sure there's 880 moons, that's the number i've got when i completed everything, and then i had to buy the rest to get to 999

Finished the game earlier today. It was an amazing adventure.

Only ~200 moons for now. I'll get back to it another day. I need to play something new and different.

I think there's 830 individual moon listings, but then you've got all the multimoons adding to that number.

I haven't counted though, could be wrong.

I gave up of using the split Joy-Cons and moved to the Pro Controller. Now the game is 1000% better to play because now I have a proper controller, that fits my hand and it's comfortable to use. And so far I didn't have any trouble with motion controls, like shaking or even doing some kind of movement.

That said, Nintendo REALLY should patch the game and add a button option to the motion controls. I know they won't do that, but really, the motion controls in this game are the gimmickiest shit I've seen in a long time.

uhhhh wow oh man

just... try throwing your hat on the globe again...

...you played through the entire game thinking you can't leave a Kingdom at all until the game forces you to the next one?

Haha I played a Kingdom until it said " You have enough moons to repair/fill up the odyssey"

I love that you can text to photos directly on the Switch. So here's one of mine.
I know it's not perfect, but I don't know if there's any black wall against which Mario can sit. So it's a Conker reference as well, and, well, very light spoilers I guess.

My God those moons on the
Darker Side Kingdom
are tough as hell to get. Took me almost 20 minutes to get the main moon in the room just behind the Odyssey. I think the lower moon in that room is near impossible to get since you have to somehow get the giant bullet bill follow you all the way to the end. ffffffuuuuuu---

I know they are enemies and they try to kill you, but I hate abandoning those water bubble octopuses on dry land. They look so sad with their pathetic little jumps...

I'm missing capture 41. Could anyone please at least tell me the kingdom where it is?

Going along the bottom path for me was the easier option. You didn't have to worry about your path being destroyed in front of you, and you had the bonus of getting both moons in one go.

While it took a few goes, once I got the timing down (also, the initial jump to the first block has to be made literally as Mario is about to walk of the edge which can be a bit tricky) all I had to do is hold down ZL and tap the A button.

I've got like half of a probably-too-long review written up for this game and dunno if I feel like finishing it. I'm feeling kind of spent after 100%ing this.

Mostly it just puts me in the mood to play other Mario games now.

- long jump
- throw the cap
- initiate a ground pound
- immediately press AND HOLD the cap/dive button
- bounce off the cap
- dive again

Thank you so much, I got it.

Cappy is awesome! Beat everything with 940 moons. Now I'll just take my time farming coins for the other 59.

In Darker Side, when you're climbing the tower to get the moon and Cappy starts giving you the farewell speech.....the emotions!

Thanks for the tip. I'll use those strats tonight.

Ok, so there's one challenge in the game that legitimately made me angry.

It's the 2D room in the post game kingdom with the spherical platforming section. Man, that was rage inducing. Took me far too long to get a handle on the controls.

I have a question about a post game purchase.

The 9999 coin skeleton outfit... is it required for the outfit achievemoon? Or can I leave that for later safely?

The last story stage was the only time I have ever heard my switch fans kick in.

End game has been a blast. I can't believe how much they snuck into some of these places.

Man, had I have known
Dark Side of the Moon was a boss rush I would have been more careful.
. I literally was one hit away from winning and then I did something stupid, only to realize I had to do it all over again. Laaame.

Post game is a lot more difficult.

Same. And I would die before o could grabs the controls there, too. I succeded through sheer persistence.

You can save it for last.

In general it's a good idea to buy all of the cheapest outfits first, as I don't think any of the expensive ones at the end are used for specific unlocks.

That last segment of the main game made the whole thing worthwhile. Smiled all the way through the ending. I really enjoyed the wedding theme even though I found the game a little too linear for my taste.

Side note: I managed to get to 250 jump rope jumps literally my first try ever by using a scooter. Felt like I was cheating after seeing all the complaints.

Got damn at the whole last sequence.

I never in a million years thought any game was going to come close to Zelda this year. And there is fucking Mario stealing our souls one throw at time 7 months later.

No hesitation calling this a masterpiece and I did not even get started on the end game stuff.
