I just picked up the BB version. I have a few quick questions please. I'm new to 4k.

I have 3 hdmi devices and the tv has 3 but 1 is hdmi arc. Will I need to use a 4k splitter? I only know that arc is for audio.

Do I need to purchase new high speed 2.0 hdmi cords for my PS Pro and Xbox X.

Thank you for any info you might be able to provide.
You can use all 3 HDMI inputs for your devices, unless you need the ARC jack to send audio to your receiver. If you have a receiver, then yeah, you'll probably want a splitter. But be careful, you'll want one that supports 18gbps. Also, I'm not sure if a splitter would introduce any input lag.

I don't know about the Pro, but the X comes bundled specifically with an 18gbps capable cable.

Ps pro comes with the correct cable already. Be sure to change hdmi inputs to 2.0

Thank you both for the speedy answers. I'm off to see AC Origins on the Xbox X for the first time. Then I'll try out HZD on the pro. Thanks again and I will remember to change the inputs.

Do we have any indication if the upcoming 6-series will be HDMI 2.1? I NEED Auto Low Latency and VRR!

They could corner the console gaming market if the 6 was at least as good as the P, plus those two features... at their current or similar price level.

Anyone got one of the EU versions of this? Thinking of picking one up despite being worse in several ways. Can't find anything else to match that input lag while still having 4k and hdr at that price over here. Any impressions if so?

The version available here is the same the EU gets so I'd love some impressions as well. If there's too much of a quality difference between this and the US Roku version this thread is about then I'll probably skip it.

Wait, cable length matters? I have a 10 foot 4K cable to reach my computer to my AV, that affects it?

It might not actually matter now with the current HDMI 2.0 cable revisions, but previously degredation issues were real regarding cable length. I think the old advice was to not go beyond 25 foot for 1080p, but this was also with 1.4. You could also sometimes get away with using a 1.4 cable for 4K purposes, but it was more of a crapshoot. It either worked, or it didn't. You could also find more of these cables that could do up to 4K/30 that would not work with 4K/60. At least up until a year or two ago it had always been suggested to go for six foot cables if trying to hit 4K/60, even with HDMI 2.0. Just try your cable.

So, anyone else with this TV have this weird problem with the Switch? Very intermittently (but almost constantly every 4-5 minutes while I'm playing Minecraft Switch), the screen will go black for a second and I can see the picture settings have changed - because either the brightness will be higher or the sharpness will look like it's set to max - but when I go to look at my settings on the TV, it resets back to what I have and everything is normal again. Strangely enough, it seems to only always do it when I play Minecraft on Switch, but it did it a couple times in Dragon Quest Builders, as well. I haven't seen it do it on the Switch home screen.

I haven't seen it happen while playing on my PS4 or PS3, so I'm assuming it's something weird with the Switch.

I have not noticed myself. Maybe try a different hdmi cable with it? Is it plugged straight into the TV or through an AVR?

Changing cables didn't seem to fix it, and it's plugged directly into the TV.

It's not really a big deal, since it only seems to happen while playing Minecraft. Just thought it was strange.

Is there a way to turn the white light off on the bottom of the rc when the tv itself is off?

I also noticed when playing the switch the white light blinked...

There's an option for that from the home menu. I don't have the set in front of me, but there's a way to have it turned off unless a button is currently being pressed on the remote.

Cutting edge features of a standard that's still hot from the oven on a sub 1k Low cost brand TV.

Lol

Wonder if we'll see the price of the P series models go down as a result. I've been putting off buying one for a while and I'd absolutely jump in if they lowered it $100 or so but if not I'll just do the 6 series

Although I did see the P607 for $459 at Curacao...hmmm

Still no official word on HDMI 2.1, but silly to hope for it if it wasn't even mentioned in their CES press release. That being the case, I will likely skip the 6-series, as my P-series is still fantastic, and doesn't need an upgrade until I can get Free-sync and auto low latency from 2.1.

100% no 2.1. No tv announced at CES has it. Next years CES is when we will likely see the first 2.1 tv's.

they'll also likely be the high end models so they can add bullet points to "justify" the price tags

Looks like this year's models were just announced for May 1st:

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...cls-acclaimed-4k-hdr-roku-tv-is-coming-may-1/

Appears to have improved local dimming.
Article says the older P series have dipped in price. LOL. They go for like $799 on Amazon when Amazon doesn't have them in stock. I've never seen one for less than $650 with the exception of Curacao. If they do drop I'm all over it

Also because I've been out of the high end audio visual game for a while someone want to explain why we're all clamoring for HDMI 2.1

VRR and Auto Low Latency Mode

Pretty much Freesync over HDMI.

Do we know if the 6-series will have the same low levels of input lag when HRD gaming as the P-series? I'd imagine ratings needs to get hands on to determine that. Also, are these going to be restricted to best buy and Amazon again?

Those new sets coming May 1st are 55"and 65" only right? I'm trying to find something good for gaming for a small home office around 43".

Need some help. I've been rocking the 605 and incredibly happy with it. Lately I've started connecting my gaming laptop to the TV instead of the dedicated monitor.

Does this TV have some kind of "PC mode" which supports PC style resolutions (like 1440p etc). Because I can select 1080p, a bunch of 4 : 3 resolutions and then jump directly yo 2160p. There's no middle ground.

If it does, how to I enable the "PC mode".

So, for game brightness (eg. Assassin's Creed Origin), should you calibrate the brightness with the local dimming feature on or off?

I get different results of course and I'm not sure which one is the proper image.

Ugh, so my remote has apparently died. Even with new batteries it won't light up or power on the TV. I hope they get me a new one soon.

Crap, I was literally going to hop in my truck and get the p605 until I read that the 2018's are coming out next month. I might do it anyway.
