So I finally,
finally, have in my hands one of my holy grails. The Fewture EX Gokin Getter Dragon.
This is a figure I was hoping to find a long time ago. I couldn't buy it when it first came out and since they don't make too many and don't reissue it was hard to find for a good price. It took me like a year of scouring Ebay, Mandarake, and Yahoo auction to finally own it. On to the figure itself.
Like all of Fewture's Getter figures, the face can be removed to reveal the inner skull and the chest can be opened to reveal the generator and furnace.
It doesn't come with much weapons, but it's accurate to the manga/anime. The only flaw is that you can't combine the double tomahawk together like it does in media. I'd also say I wish it had a getter beam effect but Fewture never made effect parts for its figures.
Since this is based on the Metal Beast version that showed up in Getter Robo Armageddon it includes an alternate face based on
the scene where it threw the mouthplate/moustache and tried to eat Shin Getter Robo. I like how they changed the cape it had into wings that can be displayed in multiple ways.
Like all Fewture toys, it has generous amounts of die cast and is painted wonderfully everywhere. Unlike SHin Getter the wings and shoulder pads don't get in each others way of movement so you can post it with more freedom, especially since the shoulder pads themselves are articulated. Only flaw is similar to other fewture toys, it can't pull complex poses due to its weight, and their stand is big but doesn't offer the posing possibilities of most modern stands. No regrets about buying it at all though and I'm so glad to have it now.
