NO EPISODE RAVUS!? Fuck I'm still in though.

Perhaps Luna fights with Ravus in Episode Luna :)

Only the alternate ending stuff will be non-canon.

They implied all the DLCs would be about changing their fates and getting a "perfect future". So maybe some pieces of them will be canon, like Ardyn's backstory. But as I understood it, the DLCs will share an overarching plot that won't be canon to the original game.

2019's fine for me. I still haven't played any of the postgame/season 1 DLC beyond the events, so that's plenty of time to chip away at that before any of this hits.

Excited for all these dlcs, but 2019 seems so far away. Played the game at launch so at least it will be quite a different experience once I replay it next year. Guess it's a safe bet to assume the full version will come out on the next consoles, might as well wait for it.

Episode Noctis already exists, it's called Final Fantasy XV.
All other episodes besides that one are ok to me.

hoping the single player content is meaty. too bad it couldnt be earlier but oh well.

Give us Gralea and Tenebrae in detail please, somehow have the Lucis continent be connected to Accordo and Niflheim

It would be really cool if the inevitable super-duper ultimate edition that comes with everything has all of these DLC episodes integrated into the main plot somehow. Probably not, though.
Nah, SE too lazy. Ep Ignis is the main problem since you need to beat the game first in order to play it.

All the eps should've been integrated into the story.

I'm excited (and really like the artwork).
I secretively hoped that there would be a Nyx side story though.

the best thing that can happen is to have these all transition naturally in game without having to go back to the main menu and see them.

like right after the Altissia sequence, ep ignis should begin , or fit really well
Agree completely. It would take some work to get the alternate endings all interwoven but it would be a very cool finished product.

Also, I love seeing how much space this game continues to take up on my HDD. It's weird.

So 2019 is when the game is finally releasing?
I spent $60 on its early access version, how much for the official release?

A bunch of additional content is not "the full game" finally releasing. Was the Witcher 3 not done until Blood and Wine came out?

Episode Ignis spoils the hell out of the ending of the game. It absolutely should not happen right after Altissia. It would be jarring and weird to finish the Altissia sequence and then immediately go back in time to see someone else's perspective of the exact same events.

Episode Ignis and Prompto don't fit into game you would have to completely rewrite the main game to make them work

It spoils the events of the game with it's ending.

XV DLC affect the flow of the game to much to be integrated imo, especially Ignis and Prompto's.

So I have the PS4 Pro version but have since got the Xbox One X as well. Is the game better on X? It's pretty muddy on Pro.
I also beat the main game on Pro but never did the DLC. I need to get to that.

Aaayyyy playable Aranea with her moveset is gonna be nice. Ardyn story sounds interesting too.

2019 sounds awfully late though.

They are all releasing close to each other and are all coming out early 2019. From how it sounds, Episode Noctis will be the last DLC for the game.

So, pretty much, all post-launch content for FFXV will be completely done in early 2019.

What was up with Prompto's? I don't remember it spoiling the ending.

edit: Also doesn't Comrades have some section where you actually play as Noctis? Can't they add that back into the main game?

The real question is why is this the only game where people treat additional DLC developed years after release as a "protracted development schedule"

I think the issue is that the story in the main game was so poorly told that it makes the DLC feel like something that was just left out of the main game, as opposed to a true addition to a finished title.

I don't really feel that way about this second set of DLC but certainly with the first set. And that's a hard thing to correct in the mindshare of some people.

It doesn't help that some previous updates came with other "fixes" to the storytelling as well.

Guessing that instead of having the DLC episodes release every 3 months like last years did they are keying them up to release one month after each other, which is why all four of them are now in the first half of 2019 while the rest of 2018 is mainly Mod support content, Comrades updates and other content updates.

Also to people saying Iris stuff, if they ever were to do that it'd most likely be placed in Comrades.

I really don't like how the theme of this DLC seems to be expanding on Episode Ignis' alternate ending.

I think all of the final story DLC should focus on improving the game's canon story. Not expanding on an ending sequence that isn't even canon.

Imagine having no knowledge of this game in 2020 and then buying the edition woth everything. That might actually be an amazing experience.

Nice, it's cool that these characters are getting more exposure. I actually haven't played the game since the survey came out although I did buy the first season pass. It will be cool to see how much has changed since then.

This... if the main game was "complete" I might feel differently... but Tabata said their effort was in completing the story, not changing it ...

They aren't expanding on Episode Ignis's ending in the new DLC. Noctis's episode will have an all new alt ending. Ardyn's stuff is about things in the past 2000 years ago, Aranea's episode takes place during Niflheims fall and when she left the empire, Luna's is about her fate.

A very confusing experience, if the title screen presents you with a shitload of "episodes" and even the main game asks you if you want to see alternate points of view they added via patches.

And that's aside from all the DLC knickknacks they dump into your inventory from the start of the game, the non-canon crossover events, the non-canon alternate endings, and options to swap out Noctis for a create-a-character.

It was already hard enough to suggest it to friends, now it's just becoming a frankensteinien parody of itself.

This is why I'm not as excited as I'd like to be. I've enjoyed playing the episodes but it's a one and done thing for me whereas if they were organically incorporated into the main story it'd feel better to me. They're not really made in such a way that it'd work as is, but I wish they were.

This is the weirdest fucking game. More story DLC in 2019? Jesus.

After feeling ripped off by the $20 Royal Pack Upgrade, and having lost nearly all interest in the story after nearly a year and a half, I'm not sure I could even be bothered to justify spending even more money on this game.

It was fun at the time, but SE should realize that they had their chance and it's over.

...Its not over, they are providing more content for an audience who desires it

They are still making money, you are not the greater audience.
