Has anyone been able to get an IR universal remote to work on this thing? I'm getting sick of using the included remote and just want to use my PS4 media remote instead, but I haven't been able to find a code that works on this TV.
Isn't it weird that you can't preorder one? Are TVs not like video games? :DI bet avsforum gets first stab. They pimped the shit out of the p series last year and caused that avalanche of good word of mouth for tcl last year.
Was going to wait for the 2018 but found a new open box p605 for $300. Just a few questions guys, what are the best settings for a non bright room so I can get the most out of HDR. I'd say that's the only underwhelming thing atm. I have contrast to 100, color at 50, picture mode to hdr bright, neutral color, and local contrast to high. Should I mess with the gamma? ive read some say 2.2 is better, some say 2.4. thanks all Oh, and game mode is on.
use the RTings settings. the majority of people just follow those. you should be using hdr dark, not bright. and 2.0 gamma is what RTings recommens. also, use warm. anything else looks terrible imo.

Is Vudu broken for anyone else? I'm using the p607 and vudu just gets stuck at "running vudu movies ...". I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and it's still happening...
I think HDR dark and bright don't make a difference really, they're just different presets you can adjust. By default the only difference in them is the hdr color temperature? But you can make them whatever you want.
There IS a difference between the Dolby dark and bright presets though.
Also does rtings suggest gamma 2.0 for SDR or HDR? I just use 2.2 fwiw, I liked using 2.0 for darker content as it would lighten up the dark scenes and bring out some shadow detail, but I felt it brightened the overall image too much for non dark stuff and it would lose some contrast/pop. I also hated having to switch between 2.2 and 2.0 so I now just leave it at 2.2 which rtings originally stated was more accurate.
2.4 is too dark, I would never use that.
I just got done watching one of my Vudu movies about 30 mins ago, so nope.
The 55" is set at the same price point as the p series; $650. It's the 65" price point that we're still waiting to hear.I'm really hoping for a similar price for the new 55-inch, but may pick up the 2017 if cheap. Is there a major difference between 72 & 96 zones? I'm stupid when it comes to TV's.

That would be pretty insane.I've got on old TV going out at just the right time. I'm very anxious to see what the 65" will cost.
It will surely be under $1k, right?
That would be pretty insane.
I'm expecting something around $1200-1400. Which is also pretty insane, just slightly more realistic.
I haven't had any problem with WiFi before, I was having an issue with streaming an on demand episode of a show so I tried connecting wired to see if it was an issue with the WiFi but it wasn't, same happened when wired. Turned out to just be that episode I was trying to stream though, everything else worked flawlessly so I went back to WiFi. One less cable to worry about is one less cable to worry about for my neatness and cable management afterall hehe.If wired is available I don't know why you would ever use WiFi.
So what do you think of the vizios?I dunno. Who decides that...the retailer or vendor? I'd wait to see what vizio has in store on april 10th anyways as they are pretty much the main competition in price. Maybe their M/P series get upgraded to be more competitive with TCL and Sony upgrades. I personally would never pre-order a TV until reviewers have actually gotten hands on time with them. hah

Isn't p better than m? Seems to me like tcl is better at the 6 level. If m is their budget competitor and it's not much changed...It's hard to say. The Vizio p series seems better in some ways but worse in others on paper. Less zones than the 2017 but higher peak brightness (1000 nits). M series doesn't sound like it changed much. Will have to wait to see reviews. Prices are higher though.

I found one through a outlet warehouse on craigslist not best buy.How did you find one? Just luck or is there a way to search for open box? Can't seem to find any through BB app. Thanks!
This is my biggest concern regarding this years model. I want to get the 65" so as long as it stays the same I'm in. If it gets worse, I'll try to pick up a 2017 model and deal with the 55"It's worth noting that last year, at least, TCL P6 had the best HDR input lag of any full size TV (as far as I'm aware).

Yea it's supposed to be May 1st. Hopefully Vizios announcement today, makes TCL give us some more details. I'm curious about the peak brightness for the 2018 model. What was the brightness for her rates at for the 2017?(that question is for anyone).Has anyone heard anything about the next TCL 6? Isn't it supposed to come out in May?

Is that good enough for Dolby Vision? I thought DV had much higher requirements than that.
I think Dolby Vision stuff is mastered at like 4,000 nits? Or was it 10,000?Is that good enough for Dolby Vision? I thought DV had much higher requirements than that.
One review mentioned 630 nits, but yeah, you don't get the full HDR effect with DV, as it requires 1000 nits. Hopefully, the 2018 model can hit 800-900 nits.Is that good enough for Dolby Vision? I thought DV had much higher requirements than that.

Uhhhhh, When are they gonna reveal specs and prices?! We're 2 and a half weeks away. We should've got something by now. I'm tired of passing on TV deals.
Yes. TCL said on or before May 1st for the new models.I'm sorry but what's 2 and a half weeks away? The release of the 2018 model?
Yea I was hoping that Vizio would make them counter with more information regarding the 6 series, maybe we'll get more information on their website/press release within the coming week or so. I've been saving up for the 55inch for the game room, I just hope I can get one easy enough come the first of May if that's when we'll actually see them haha.Oooh, the TCL website has finally been updated with the new 6 series as separate from the P series. May 1st, still no pricing.
