I guess those are somewhat usable, It was pretty hard for me to make Spring festival decent but I can see someone sacrificing for fashion on those.

As long as they keep them as one piece full armor it's all useless, they should have gone individual pieces like with dante. It would be even funny to wear Ryu head with normal armor.

Weakness Exploit. You should always be hitting the head with hammer and it's generally the best zone for impact damage on nearly every monster. I personally don't run KO or ear plugs on hammer and just use rocksteady and impact mantles and stack up damage skills on my armor. But they are decent skills especially if you are just picking up the weapon.
Nice. I figured that KO and ear plugs are not the best but after 3-4 games between Wii u, 3ds and now ps4, I'm still not the best at predicting where the monster Will be and I need those extra openings. Even this game does a better job, to me, of giving you levels. A couple of tremor gems just means I won't stagger for 10 seconds and it means the world to me with jho.

So I'll start with WE and do some searching. But
*get a decent R8 Lance from Kulve*

"Hmm, guess I'll try out Lance. Never clicked with me in the past but World showed me the beauty of Gunlance, so who knows."

-24 hours later-

"WHERE HAS LANCE BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!"

Holy shit this is amazing. Guard Up and Guard +5 and I'm a goddamn impenetrable brick wall. Guard Up in particular is insane (don't have it on my Gunlance set since I don't have the decoration and can't run 3-piece Uragaan due to how my build's set up for shelling). And then it's just poke poke poke all day long. Love it.

Yeah, all this is to me is a big sign:

'Hey, try this weapon out.'

I can understand not doing the Sakura costume as individual pieces because it doesn't really cleanly breakdown into arms-chest-waist-legs.

I'd much prefer if they made thematic armors that were integrated to the design language of the game like this, but even more "armory", of course it's much more work then what they are doing now:

20160111_022638.png

And then they could sell the hairstyles and animations like Dante, Ryu and Sakura's.

The gems won't stop coming today, I had like 5 from the broken golden plate and one double from the rewards =)

I got a weapon from a shiny drop (on the last phase) which is kind of weird, but okay.

Must be a microscopic chance considering this is the first time I've seen it happen in hundreds and hundreds of shinies.

This man speaks truth. Not to mention he uses the lance. If your fortunate enough to be on his team he'll do all the work himself. I just held back and baked cookies for everyone. lol

Seriously though people in the Discord are a good group of folks to play with.

Nice haul. I've only had time to do one full hunt and I just got the 420 Water SnS, which I'm pretty stoked about.

I mostly just want the Golden Diablos CB. It's almost the exact same in terms of stats but I've used the Diablos CB for what seems like over 200 hunts now and I'm craving some variety, however minimal.

Lance is amazing. It's also great because as you get better at it you can start dropping the guard up and guard skills in favor of more offensive skills. Be sure to use health augment for it, because the nonstop attacks keep your health up and further reduce downtime. I think it is the most powerful weapon class in the game.

God dammit, bowguns. I got what appeared to be an absurdly nice replacement weapon for my spread HBG set but after meticulously crafting a set around it, it turns out I forgot to check recoil in detail and I can't get it away with for Spread 3.

To top it off, I was excited to see I could get Handicraft 3 in my current CB set thanks to Kulve armor but of course Capcom put free element on the piece I needed thus rendering elementless useless! Bastards

Anyway. Got the slightly better Diablos CB and that R8 HBG which there's certainly some use case for. I mean, it has one level 3 slot, 280 raw iirc and can make use of elementless. Maybe it's good for Pierce if Spread (it does level 3 for that as well) isn't an option... gotta check that at some point

Do you mean you can't get the recoil to zero or not below recoil 3? Because technically recoil 2 is enough to be able to move while shooting, so you don't have to go below that.

Party leader kicked the GS user who decided to attack and waste a sleep bomb with a weak ass mindless sidewipe. Wouldn't have been as big of a deal if it was a pursuit level 2 run with 2 deaths in it already so that damage was critical. People really need to pay attention

Tonight I got to learn the pleasure of releasing a SAED on Kulve's horns. Doing it on her heated body on pursuit level 4+ almost feels like you're breaking it in one blow.

Speaking of which, my group just now managed to make her shed her entire armor on pursuit level 1. I honestly did not know that was even possible.

Edit: did the final siege with just two people, a random and myself. Intense stuff, but we managed it.

That feel though when you get a bunch of melded and even a few sublimated weapons and all you get is a bunch of shitty R6 and one R7 you're never going to use.

CB was fun to use, but I think I'm going to stick with hammer/IG for my current support build. CB just takes too much time to sheathe and I don't have the room to fit in Quick Sheathe.

I assume when people say this double Diablos event has a "higher crown chance" they mean it's raised from 1% chance to 1.1%.

GameFly'd this game and just got to the Diablos story mission. Bastard does 75% of my max HP in a single hit and I just can't seem to take him down. I sent up an SOS flare and he killed me 15 seconds after a co-op partner spawned into my game.

Any advice? At the moment, the only relevant weapons I have are the Anjanath katana, the Rathian katana and the Mark II Toby bow. Bow seems to be really, really ineffective against him solo.

If you have trouble dodging, maybe try tanking him with a lance? He's weak to ice BTW, so if you got a strong ice weapon, try that.

Also, might be obvious, but you're sonic bombing him out of the ground right?

Make sure to boost your defense. Upgrade your armour, eat for Defense Up, etc. It can make a difference.

GaijinHunter just did a video on how to deal with Diablos. I haven't watched it yet, but he and Arekkz are pretty much the go-to people when you're looking for video guides. So it might be worth checking out:

I'll give it a look. I managed to get lucky and have someone else join me and captured the bastard (on my last life, no less), but I'll watch this for future reference. I was definitely doing way better with my katana compared to the bow, but he's still just an absolute pain in the ass. Nobody else I've fought so far has been anywhere close to that annoying.

Easiest way to handle Diablos is with any weapon that has a shield. Even a puny shield like the Sword & Shield has is enough to tank all of it's attacks with minimal trouble.

Beyond that, get really good at the superman dodge. It's fully invulnerable so you can dodge through all of Diablos' attacks. Then just get hits in when it's vulnerable.

If you can master Foresight Slash, Diablos is really easy with Longsword as his attack have fairly obvious tell.

I was basically fighting him like Sif/Royal Rat Authority. Stayed underneath him as much as possible and spun that blade around. My co-op partner probably did a lot of the work though, even if I was the one who finished it off.

Kulve's quest is great and all, but I really can't stand those shitty Gajalaka and the lave spouts in the last area. They're just annoyances that don't add anything to the fight at all.

Haha, yeah, that sounds like Diablos alright. There's a reason the story forces you to fight him when it does: if you can deal with Diablos, you are ready for what's next.

I'm echoing what DrArchon says about shields: they are great against Diablos. I have put 300+ hours into this game and I still struggle with a hammer at times. But with a (Gun) Lance he's incredibly simple. Just keep your shield up when he charges at you and poke at him when there's an opening.

Imo you should fight him a couple more time, Diablos is a great monster to practice LongSword Foresight Slash, which will come handy for endgame fight.

When they get a bug up their ass about something and decide to just harass you forever it's the most obnoxious shit, and when they don't do that they basically do nothing whatsoever the entire encounter.

Pretty sure some artist mocked up the gold outfits for them and they were like, "IT'S GOING IN!" even though no one had any decent ideas of how they could use them.

I might do that when my buddy gets back online. It really helps to have a second person in this fight even if I'm planning to be the bastard's primary focus. If I can do a Special Arena fight against him that's probably the ideal place to practice since the desert can be a giant pain to keep your bearings in because of all the hills.

The best advice I can give to anyone struggling on any fight is, get Vitality +3, it is one of the most useful skills in the game if you are like me that can't read attacks at all, it is a god send, you wont get 1 hit by anything other than the monsters strongest attacks that are usually the slowest and even then only if you are ranged. All of my builds have Vit +3, can't go back. Even tempered Jho was simply a boring lengthy fight more than anything because one would barely cart with it.

I feel like a scrub because nobody ever uses those on builds but whatevs, that's the beauty of this game, play and make as you like.

Skills are one thing I haven't really wrapped my head around. I know armor and weapons have skills attached, but how do I level the skills up?

There are 2 ways, one is using other gear pieces that have the same skill on it so those will add up. And the other one which I don't remember when you can unlock it is by putting decorations on gear, those are stones with an specific skill on them.

So even if right now your gear options are quite limited, try to remember my advice as soon as you unlock that feature, it will help so much on harder fights. And unless there is something super specific that I need, I usually eat the first menu option that is offered, it will always use fresh ingredients which means you will get 50 Vit form there too.

Do you unlock more charm slots eventually as you play?

Nah, you can only ever equip one charm at a time. That being said, not all charms are created equal, since there are charms that gives you way more value due to the points of some of the hard to come-by skiils. Ironhide Charm that gives you 3 Guard for example, or Exploiter Charm that can give you 2 Weakness Exploit.

You craftable charm list will expand as you gather the materials necessary to craft them.

As expected. I spend two full days farming gems with minimal success. After 30 or so sieges, I finally get the four I needed. And now the game begins throwing them at me. Four gems in 4 or so hours, two of them in a row as quest rewards for breaking the tail. Come on, game...

Edit: And of course, yet another batch of useless R6 weapons and just one R7, which I already have but will never use. I think it's time to call it quits for today, because I'm starting to get frustrated.

So I got knocked out of the Gem carving animation TWICE. I SCREAMED. Now I know that all your carves are rolled right on the break because when I went for the third time after dispatching those fuckers, I got my gem
