Just ordered this off Amazon this morning:

street-fighter-packshot-177x230.jpg

They're saying they'll have it in stock by this Saturday.

EDIT: Amazon says I'll have this by next Wednesday.

Please post a review and some sample pages when you get it. I've got this on my amazon wish list. I hope it's really good.

There's an eBay BIN listing for both Dark Souls Design Works I and II (English) for $110 shipped: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dark-Souls...385312?hash=item1c9769eae0:g:CesAAOSwySlaA7q0
Price is not too bad for both books.

Also, I might come into a second Dark Souls Design Works book, so I could sell my extra copy for what I paid for (~$50) plus shipping, if anyone's interested.
Interesting.
I looked up both books on Amazon.de (since I'm myself from Germany, maybe should've mentioned that) and got both books for 70€. New.
Even though the first book will take a month or two to arrive apparently.
But still, 40 for the first book and 30 for the second seems like a good price after reading what you guys wrote.

Will neatly fit my collection of video games books and artbooks I think.

That's the correct way of storing books. I should really do this.

I've got mine a few days ago after so many delays since my initial order in like April/May.

The book is great but one huge huge dissappont and something I wanted more than anything else...lack of a bestiary.

Oh god no, it's not. It's definitely not. I'm just lacking an actual bookshelf. Please don't store books like someone as stupid as me.

EDIT: Just thought of this: I have the opportunity of buying the French hardcover version of the Bloodborne Artbook for cheap, but I can't read French. Can anyone tell me if the Bloodborne Artbook has any descriptions in it that may have been translated into French for the artbook?

It's the correct way because it's not deforming the pages over long years. It's not the practical way but it's the best way to preserve a book.

As for the BB artbook, it's exactly the same as Udon's. It has very little texte : name of enemies, locations, weapons. No commentary. Sometimes a couple of lines from Runes or items descriptions... Text is so little in this one, it shouldn't be a factor in your buying decision.

Mine arrived from Book Depository today. Shame a lot of the prices shot up from £11-20 after the release date. But for 400+ pages that's still a steal considering that I'm paying double that to preorder FFXV's artbook which is less than half that size. The wait is worth it. Especially when you consider how much everything else related to P5 costs. DLC prices are ridiculous for that game imo.

I have #2 of the Yoshitaka Amano artbooks, but the hardcover is damaged. It was when I bought it and I used it to haggle the store owner down.

I'm sad it's damaged, but honestly I probably wouldn't have convinced myself to get it otherwise so I'm happy it's damaged.

BUT HOLY HELL it's all gorgeous. If you feel the same, watch Angel's Egg. Directed by Oshii of Ghost in the Shell fame, and the art is by Amano!!! I still need to check out Vampire Hunter D.

First time I've seen the 30th Anniversary Breath of the Wild Masterworks available to pre-order. Not even amazon has it on their site yet to my knowledge. Supposedly doesn't ship until at least Dec 22 but much like the P5 artbook it looks like it's going to be pretty big with 416 pages. No word on a western release date yet unfortunately assuming this is only the jp version.

Sucks that I gotta wait until whenever they are finished translating and releasing this beast, because I really really need it.
The cover is already so beautiful. And white+gold+blue is always a perfect mix of color!

I bought the french version of the Bloodborne artbook. Here's a comparaison with Udon's : but my phone suck in the dark and I'm taking these in the evening and these are dark books. I'm no a very smart man, so I used HDR and pictures are shit. Sorry. I hope they still are useful enough to make my point.

First : the content is EXACTLY the same. Same pages, same layout. 100% copy pasted, but text is all in french now. (mind you, there is barely any text, only monsters, places and weapons name. Sometimes a few lines of the in game poetry / lore from runes or else)

capture4csyl.png

Second : it's hardcover. Yes, it's much nice that the glossy softcover Udon made. It has a nice touch feeling to it too !

capture2fisbd.png

(french edition on the left, Udon's softcover edition on the right). This picture may be missleading : there is the SAME number of pages on both book. It's just that Udon used a much thinner paper.

capture35esa5.png

The spine is inverted because it's a french book. Left is top. Right is bottom. I kinda liked Ludwig's sword on the spine on Udon's it was a nice touch.

Now the paper quality : Udon's was criticized because they used a super glossy, magazine like paper that doesn't look nor feel very good in hands. French edition use a much more traditional half grainy half glossy paper that is much better and on par with traditional artbooks. Of course pics are hard to make to prove this and I did this quick and dirty with my shit phone but you'll see the gloss paper vs normal paper (against strong light to illustrate extreme reflection) :

Udon :
capture4nqs7l.png

Mana Books :
capture5coskw.png

conclusion : if you are a french reader do NOT hesitate. Buy the french edition locally in your bookshop. It's cheaper, better, and you do something good for a local book shop and local publisher.
If you are not speaking french : there's really not much text. None are commentary it's only names or in game lore/ poetry. Up to you to decide what edition you want, if you have the choice.

Very jealous of this - the Bloodborne book was a disappointment and I would have much preferred a hardcover.

Got my Gravity Daze (Rush) 1/2 Artbook today. God its so beautiful, now I remember why the series is one of my favorite this gen. Also grabbed this huge Deadpool Artbook and a Megamind artbook at Half Price Books.

Now I think I'm gonna cool it for a bit on Artbooks outside of what I have pre-ordered and a couple other I have wanted for a while (Like the Splatoon book and Xenoblade's)

I love the paper in Gravity Rush 1&2 artbook. It goes prefectly with the soft water painting looking artworks. It's a perfect print.

Yeah its a really nice quality, kinda reminds me of the pages in the Final Fantasy XIV art books or the Bravely Second one that are really soft as well.

Saw the Gravity Daze book at the store earlier and really wanted to pick it up but just don't have the funds at the moment. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. It looks damn good!

Does anyone have the Devil May Cry: 3142 Art book? Is it worth buying?
I say absolutely, It compiles all of the art from the main games and some cool concept art stuff. All bosses, enemies, and weapons in the series are represented and theres even a small section for spin offs (VJ,MVC3, PXZ, even character layouts from the anime). Plus 25 pages of interview questions covering all 4 games. One small gripe is the book has no input from Kamiya though he is mentioned multiple times. The DMC1 interview is covered by the two motion artist (Tomoya Ohtsubo,Yuichiro Hiraki) from that game.

Here are some bad pictures i took on my phone lol:

Outside of the Sky, are there any other high quality final fantasy books?

I've seen a lot of recommendations for FFXIV art books and the lore book (Encyclopaedia Eorzea). There's also a FFXV art book from Cook & Becker (pictured in the op) that's supposed to be pretty sweet. Dark Horse Comics is localizing the Ultimania art collections next year, those should be good. First one is coming in June and includes art from FF1-6.

Just an FYI, Costco has the Overwatch art book in-store for 29.99. That's nominally cheaper than Amazon but it's also right there in hand.

I don't think I ever recommended this in the old thread, but Dragon Girl and Monkey King: The Art of Katsuya Terada is one of my favorite books that Dark Horse has put out. It's a bit of an oddity because Dark Horse doesn't often do books that focus only on one artist, they tend to do artbooks on franchises. The only other example I can think of off the top of my head are the Tara McPherson books.

There's truly some breathtaking artwork in this book. There are a few samples of the interior art at the link.

I bought all the FFXIV artbooks from Amazon JP and they all have English in them. The only pure Japanese bit is some developer interviews/comments in the latest artbook at the last section. Not sure if there is an English version of that section anywhere, it's possible, but not sure if it's worth the extra crap you have to pay for at the S-E Store for their ridiculous shipping and whatnot.

Is it cheaper from Amazon JP, are they shipped and sold through Amazon JP?

Yes, the books are cheaper on Amazon Japan (3240yen each) and they are shipped by Amazon Japan directly via DHL. On the S-E Store you're paying 40-50 USD per book plus insane domestic shipping. Amazon Japan will get you all 3 books plus shipping for about 100 USD.

The only thing you can't get from Amazon Japan is the English Encyclopaedia Eorzea.

Thanks. Got the Ultimania one on preorder and looking forward to it. Hopefully between that and The Sky, should have enough FF stuff to satisfy me.

Katsuya Terada might be my favourite 2d character artist ever. Seeing his designs for the PS2 Wizardry games is what made me buy this book last year. Shame he does not work on games that often, at least any that I know of. I mean, look at this beauty:
