Wow, very impressive up against PC. I played the EA Access version for about an hour and was extremely impressed with the IQ and performance. Frostbite seems like it's always been pretty scalable. Looking forward to DF covering this.

I have it downloading and plan on playing it a bit tonight. Still likely won't buy due to loot boxes/potential for pay 2 win, but i'll have happily rent for the campaign.

Well that makes the whole 4K TV upgrade a lot more expensive...
If you have a 4K tv, it probably has an "ARC" HDMI port.
So run an HDMI cable from your Xbox to your TV (not the ARC port)
Then run a cable from the HDMI ARC port on your TV to your receiver's HDMI ARC port.
IF I understand how this works correctly, the TV will feed the sound from the Xbox back to the receiver through that ARC port.

I'm still on the fence about purchasing, the Beta was just ok for me, and I bought the first one and barely played it. The campaign is definitely of most interest for me at this point.

Yes, looks fantastic, just have loading times from hell and buggy like an alpha version.

It didn't seem too bad to me. The game is so-so so far. I like the story, the mechanics are a little.. whatever.. but I'd of liked to see a full fledged single player game like this.

Forza 7 is also the game that caused it when I had the issue. I have not seen it in over 24 hours.
With that said I am assuming you used the HDMI cable that came with it, but just in case you are not, definitely use it. When I first got this TV I had some High Speed HDMI cables I had picked up from Amazon that I was using for everything else, but lo and behold it did not work with the S for whatever reason. As soon as I switched the HDMI cable that came with the S, no more issues. So it is worth a shot if you are not using the HDMI cable MS provided.

Interesting though it seems to be Forza 7 for both of us that is primarily causing the issue. I said I have not seen the issue in the past 24 hours, and I have not played Forza 7 in the past 24 hours either. I will be playing it soon so I will report back if it happens to come back after playing it. If not, no news is good news.
Ok yes I think I may leave seen it in another game but most definitely a couple times with forza 7.

Also interesting that we both have the rook tcl 605/607.

Could just be the handshake with hdmi is messing up on tv? But nick has seen it with an LG

Hi sorry if this has been asked. I installed my external HDD and the X detected all my games. How do I enable enhanced? Do I start the game and it automatically starts download the enhanced contents?

I haven't been able to do a direct comparison, but Wonder Woman seemed a bit off. Things improved when I realized the color depth was set too low, but it's still not the inky black I expect from my C7.

From the sounds of it there is possibly an update on preview that sorts this out, but I didn't see anything in last night's beta update to support that.
Yeah. So, it was partially mitigated once I realized that my TV doesn't auto detect full / limited colour depth correctly when being fed 24hz content, which I was able to change, but it still isn't showing the correct black levels that I get from Netflix, or videogames or what have you. It's clearly an issue with the app, since the pop up menu shows something much closer to black when it overlays. I'm not surprised to hear that a fix is incoming.

Seems it still has a problem with random controller disconnects. I had this problem on the original and the S, but I never played either enough to look into it much. But if im going to start using xbox for 3rd party this is going to get annoying. Anyone else have this problem or know if theres a fix? I was just playing Wolfenstein 2 and the controller just disconnected in the middle of a fight.

Secondary question... Any way to dim this damn light on controller? All the talk I saw about the PS4 controller light, i find this FAR more annoying. Its right in my face.

My controller just did the random disconnect while playing my X. I had this problem a lot with my OG Xbox One but did not encounter it with my S. I'm annoyed if this problem is back. Any others having this problem?

Very excited to get home from work this evening to try Halo 5 on the X. Will also dive in Quantum Break on the X as I never finished it on my old Xbox.

So for the moment until MS or Netflix fixes it we're coping with these terrible dark grey black levels or can it be confirmed here that preview indeed has a fix now? Because this is just ridiculous.

Stranger Things looks fine on my B6 TV app except that Dolby Vision is rather grainy, black levels are inky black and terrible dark grey on Xbox One S and X Netflix.

Can MS even fix this though? Isn't this something Netflix has to fix themselves?

It always could be our TV, but I am using a Denon receiver and have 5 other devices connected to it (Roku 4 (had it before I got the Roku TV itself), Chromecast, Apple TV 4K, SWITCH & PS4 Pro), all of which do 4K as well, and not a single issue with any of them. But it always could be the TV itself. However like you said, the other user had an LG, so that combined with the fact none of my other devices ever gave me an issue lead me to believe it is either software related or related to the X hardware itself.

I've had handshake issues in the past with an Onkyo Receiver (one of the reasons I eventually upgraded to the current Denon I have), and while it was not every device that had the issue, it was more than one.

It just seems like too much of a coincidence I had an issue with the X but nothing else. And truth be told although I had a One S prior to the X, I did not do a whole whole lot of gaming on it. I used it to watch TV but my primary console for the last 3-4 years has been the PS4. So if the issue also existed on the S which another person said they saw it on it, I very well may not have noticed since it is game related it seems.

I was wondering if anyone here knew of some recommended picture settings for both game and movie content.

My TV is an LG OLED E6: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CDD4J58/?tag=era0f0-20

I mainly just want the best settings for movies (both with and without HDR) since I already have the Game preset where I want it.

I generally use these settings .... http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c7-oled/settings ... this is on a C7 BTW ... should be relatively close to yours I would think

These are my professionally calibrated settings on a 65C6. Should at least give you a starting point.
I do not use game mode, but leave the console in the calibrated HDR Standard.

You don't have to enable anything. Either your system has downloaded the enhancement patches or it haven't.

It should automatically download the enhancements you need if you didn't already prepare your games on you old Xbox (assuming you had one). Once downloaded your games will be enhanced. No other fiddling required.

One thing you could try is go to one of the games listed as enhanced, press the Menu button and select "Manage Game" or whatever it's called. Check if there is anything that needs to be downloaded.

MyTube Beta updated with 1440p, 4K, and 8K support on Xbox One X

https://www.windowscentral.com/mytube-beta-updated-1440p-4k-and-8k-support-xbox-one-x

I'm not sure when Google will update the Xbox app so this is a great alternative to watch all the DF 4K videos on the big screen.

Edit: Link to the Beta app: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sto...c3d569d1f733ba855c8fd0c)(259740)(2804580)()()
Good find! But how to get this on my Scorpio. In the Xbox store there's no beta version. Link is useless on my Iphone. #FirstWorldProblems

*edit*
Used Edge on my Scorpio. First and last time i'll ever do that, but it works :-)

Hmmm.... Link works on my end, it's the same link from the article. Anyway if you get the app from Windows, it'll show up on your ready to install list on Xbox.

I had this weird issue when I unpacked the Xbox One X, the controller must have been bouncing around in transit as the right bumper was jammed.... I only noticed this when I was trying to type my password.

Thankfully it was simple to resolve, it was just a bit odd.

Canceled my pre-order. Going to wait, although I'm a bit jealous. Someone's going to be happy. Apparently the store had been getting calls about them, so that's good news for Microsoft given the price.

I'm starting to think I just don't "get" HDR. I picked up the TCL P605 this summer as my first 4K HDR10 set. I first noticed with Everybody's Golf on the PS4 Pro that when it switches to HDR, I can see a bit more detail but the color tone looks "washed out" when I feel like it should look more vivid. I noticed the same thing when I set up my One X and booted up Forza Horizon 3. I am struggling to calibrate it because the TV only stays in HDR mode when HDR content is on screen, and I feel like I have an incorrect idea of what HDR should look like. I just feel... underwhelmed.

The closest thing I can find is at about 3:10 in this youtube video.

I had the opposite problem. I calibrated my TV in SDR, when a game switched to HDR/Game Mode everything looked too vibrant/cartoony (LG E6 OLED). I have toned it down a bit. I wonder if any of those TV calibration Apps in the store will add HDR support. Like you I can't use anything I currently use to calibrate my TV as it doesn't put it into HDR mode.

From 'quake area to big OH.
My wife is now interested in me upgrading the Xbox TV so she can get the 65 Vizio hooked up to the PS4. Right now it's some 4X Westinghouse that isn't doing any favors in the IQ department.

Budget will probably be around $1500, would love a 70 this time.

Nothing much really. The game is already locked 1080p and 30fps. So cant improve on that with a patch. Loading times are abit faster wich is expected and the 16xaf seems to help abit but can be placebo also.
