Andre has sources now? Where do you people get these "sources" from and how can I acquire them? Also, Andre is backing the rumor up himself with his sources. Cautiously going to go on real with this one.

Imagine if some of y'all were in your 20s and 30s during the N64 era. Shit would've been exactly the same.
"Rare are making a fucking Diddy Kong racing spin-off? Where's DK Country? Waste of talent!"
I'm just wondering how many sources are out there?! It's like there are 20 people who all know what is going on at Retro.
This feels like a waste of Retro's talent, I want something original and ambitious, not a racing spinoff.
It's a racing spinoff in the vein of Diddy Kong racing, how ambitious can it be?
Anything which isn't a new IP and a AAA cinematic action-adventure isn't even trying! It's a racing spinoff in the vein of Diddy Kong racing, how ambitious can it be?
How were they able to develop 3 games in one year?it's true
though to be fair, Rare put out Blast Corps, Goldeneye and Diddy Kong Racing all in 1997. This is Retro's first game in 4 years. so when a great team finally unveils their big secret game and it's based on an IP or genre that you aren't interested in, it stings a lot more these days.
Now I'm pictured a bearded Fox and a young Slippy

This sounds like apologism/damage control. Retro took two years between MP1 and three between MP2 -> MP3 -> DKCR. They're all among the best Nintendo games ever and didn't required them 4/5 yrs dev cycle. They don't need to "rush" anything.
Is it? Having only played the original a bit I know the 4 wingmates and that's it. I would say F-Zero characters are more unknown but in both cases there's still going to be an effort required to sell the number of unknowns needed for a full racing roster. The cast of Star Fox is just a much easier sell. Heck, it's still the premier meme generator for Nintendo due to how much people like Fox and the crew, even with the existence of Falcon Punch and that one bit from Super Paper Mario that gets posted so much.
Enough other people must feel the same if there still hasn't been any hint of a new F-Zero.Only Miyamoto said this and he's not even the general manager anymore. Also, Retro probably wanted to work on Star Fox.
Yes, because that's totally what I'm saying.Anything which isn't a new IP and a AAA cinematic action-adventure isn't even trying!
Musgrave later attributed the success of the overall project due to the "small team" of 14 people who worked on it.
At that point Rare had already put out multiple games on the system, and we also knew Banjo was in development. It was also a forgone conclusion that a 3D DK was coming eventually.Imagine if some of y'all were in your 20s and 30s during the N64 era. Shit would've been exactly the same.

Conspiracy theory: Nintendo let the rumor leak, so that people get there over reactions out of there systems, before they show the game for real. Worked wonders for Mario & Rabbits.
Here's the thing: If you don't like racing games then I don't really see any reason to give this sort of thing a chance. DKR really is just a racing game, and having a hub world and boss fights doesn't change that.
That being said, not every game has to be for you. Racing games used to be a lot more common so look at this as something where fans of another genre finally get more games.
I mean, the leaker compared the Bosses and hub directly to Diddy Kong Racing. I, of course, expect there to be far more to the concepts, but, I think, judging by what the leaker said, you can get an idea of what to expect by looking at those videos. Also, like I mentioned, I was hoping to see something that didn't look like a racing game. I did not get that. The whole "Diddy Kong Racing" comparison is likely pretty superficial. I mean.. it's Star Fox. It could quite possibly have legit shooter bosses. Or do something very different.
I think anyone trying to judge the concept before an official reveal is being hasty. Like Mario+Rabbids there can be a lot more to a game than what a few words of a leak imply.
if you don't like racing games there's little chance you'll enjoy this, just like you weren't enjoying metroid prime if you weren't a FPS fan or with DKCR/DKCTF if you weren't a 2D plateformer fan
no game can please anyone and retro never tried to make their games for everyone

dev times have been increasing for everyone when HD consoles came in, you're not breaking any news here
Do you have a link? I'd like to see what he says. Always enjoy insight from Andre.

By who? Old rumors said they were working on something they pitched to Nintendo themselves. I think it's also been said they have the capacity for multiple projects so this could be just 1I hope this isn't true. This would be mismanagement on so many levels.
Let's just say when the next F Zero does come out it will no longer be considered a futuristic racing game.
I'm more attached to F-Zero characters than Star Fox characters. Is anyone really that attached to the FZero license itself? Or do you just want really fast racing? Because I feel like this will offer that.
I'm attached to the good Captain himself and his series' soundtrack in addition to the gameplay. But this sounds cool too.Is anyone really that attached to the FZero license itself? Or do you just want really fast racing? Because I feel like this will offer that.
I was there and I don't remember anyone saying this. Diddy Kong made a lot of sense at the time and was very well received.Imagine if some of y'all were in your 20s and 30s during the N64 era. Shit would've been exactly the same.

Not really. N64 was very hard to develop for, as was admitted by Yamauchi to be intentionally like that to repel "untalented devs", which is why there was constantly delays for the platform. Releasing three games in a year with good quality was a huge achievement, plus the fact Rare was far, far larger than Retro ever was.
I can get behind a reskinned star fox.
Though after Nintendo's comments about F-Zero not being viable for a return, I'm curious to know why they think Star Fox is significantly more viable. Clearly the series had already ran its course before the last game. And using the IP in another genre, after recent efforts, just seems like its one that's struggling to find modern relevance or is one that Nintendo wants to make relevant. Something that they could have done with F-Zero. Maybe this is supposed to be a game for casuals unlike F-Zero would be. but then they already have Mario Kart...

If people just wanted fast racing games they would have a bunch of others to look to. No other game captures the feeling of F-Zero even if it is also a futuristic racing game.Is anyone really that attached to the FZero license itself? Or do you just want really fast racing? Retro also had several other games in development that were cancelled, with team members from those projects joining Metroid Prime.... No games, were much easier to develop back in the past.
Metroid Prime had 30 people working on it for two years, Anthem has 750 people working on it and has been in development for 6 years. Red Dead 2 has >1000 people and has been in development for 5 years.
Have you seen Redline? Imagine that as a game,.It's a racing spinoff in the vein of Diddy Kong racing, how ambitious can it be?
