It was pretty good, I was into it for the most part. I particularly enjoyed the train heist, that had some great music to go along. Weirdly enough the soundtrack is what impressed me the most of the entire movie. Score's pretty memorable and I want to listen to it again. The meetup with Chewbacca is a highlight and felt organic instead of forced. I was surprised by Alden, his acting was actually pretty good and he only got upstaged by Glover who is just perfect as Lando. Alden though gives his own interpretation of Han and doesn't try to really mimic Ford and it mostly works. I think it'd be jarring if you would immediately watch ANH after, but confined to the movie I think he did a fine job.

I don't know about the Maul cameo. It's a nice gift to the people following along with Clone Wars/Rebels but it'll only feel substantial if they do something with him in other spinoffs. And even then... fans already know where this ends and we got a very satisfying conclusion with him in Rebels. I don't know where they're going with this.

And why did he ignite his saber? That was so lame, no need for that at all. Friend of mine noticed the same thing and thought it was jarring. "Oh yeah that's right, I still got this saber".

It's been "actual canon" for 6 years.

Can someone put "CARTOONS COUNT LOL" over this gif?

Just came back from it. I liked it, it helped i went with low expectations. Ehrenreich's acting was decent. My problems was Val's death and Lando/L3 "relationship", both were forced IMO.
The Maw sequence was great and so the WW1 inspired battle at the beginning of the movie, i would love to see a Star Wars movie with that setting.
Also, Beckett killed Aurra Sing? Man is a badass.
Maul cameo was the biggest surprise of the movie.

Still need to watch a couple more times before a definitive ranking but so far it goes like this

ESB
TLJ
ANH
RO
TFA
ROTS
SOLO
ROTJ
TPM
AOTC

Really enjoyed. Fun, easy, no overthinking and fanservice that doesn't ruin the experience for others.

Just saw it and it was damn fun. Alden took a while to convince, but the moment I heard Lando, I was sold.

Also, after eating the whole CW series and finishing Rebels, I was so happy to see THAT Maul making it

That was dumb, as was the moment when Chewie was holding the two severed arms. I enjoyed the rest of the callbacks. Probably the most EU/Legends Tie-ins of any live action SW movie.

Saw it. Was pretty good. Alden was serviceable as Han. But to me, Han Solo was the weakest part of the movie.

Saw it. No long thoughts now but exceeded expectations. It's twice now that both star wars story films have expanded the universe and made it feel larger. Meanwhile, the ST feels considerably smaller by comparison.

Oh, and Clarke killed it. She had me ready to put it all on the line to save her ;_;.

The entire time on Corellia was dreadful, but it picked up later. Lando was fantastic. L3 was a bit much.

I know how these days everything must be horrible or the best ever, but it was decent and fun. TON of nods towards the cartoons, which felt odd.

That was great! Definitely the most purely fun of the new Star Wars movies.

The Darth Maul twist caused legitimate gasps and clapping in the theater.

L3 was the MVP.

I know rebels is a thing but....

Not having Maul as an antagonist in Obi-Wan simply cannot happen. It must happen.

I don't care

I clapped when Maul showed up

I could hear the audible confusion

Someone even said "did maul have a kid or something?"

I just wanted to yell WATCH CLONE WARS

CARTOONS COUNT!

But asides from that movie was totally fine

Now I'm super bummed if Solo doesn't do well in the BO since I need to see what the hell is gonna happen with Maul.

It is so funny. My friend thought that this movies takes place TPM since Maul was alive hahaha. I tried to explain it and he got confused.

After the screening, everyone around us was asking if that was Maul and when the movie took place. I explained to everyone around us how Maul lived and created a crime organization.

Can't tell if I was super cool or super lame. They seemed interested though.

Anyone, I am super surprised by Solo- I loved it. I expected to just like it.

Alden was great and super charming. Hoping he shows up in Boba Fett's film.

Enfys was a huge stand-out for me. So great. And whenever her theme kicked in I got chills. Just wonderful.

(Also, the crowd seemed to respond really well to the film, which gave the whole experience a sense of energy).

I did groan when the rebel shit got stirred in though. Like...I'm so over that shit and it wasn't necessary. We know Han goes full hero eventually. Film didn't need that shit

I saw it earlier and genuinely considered leaving with 1 hour to go.

Same here. I forced myself to sit through the whole movie. Super bummed.

The Maul cameo was honestly embarrassing. Actually think this is one of the worst-directed big budget movies I've seen in a while. Unlike Rogue One. Kathleen Kennedy couldn't save this one. Just utterly soulless and paint by numbers.

OKAY just got out. Initial thoughts:

- I really liked it!
- Solo is now the best Star Wars prequel, not that that's saying much. It doesn't quite reach the highs of Rogue One with the Vader scenes, but overall I enjoyed Solo more. It's nice to follow a bunch of characters you actually care about. Even the new characters I think they did a pretty good job building them up and making you at least somewhat care. And of course it completely shits on the prequel trilogy.
- I think it's my second favorite Disney-era Star Wars after TFA. Like I said it edges out Rogue One and I definitely preferred it to TLJ. There is no Canto Bight moment here.
- Fuck Darth Maul, who gives a shit about that garbage character from that garbage movie. Stop reminding me that those movies happened STOP IT

so yeah, had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised! New Han Solo was fine, Glover was great. Poor Paul Bettany, fucker can't catch a break with these summer blockbusters.

*Canto Blight / Non force users part of TLJ*:

" This film is great "

*Solo*

" I was tempted to walk out."

I just cant reconcile that but aite

Inoffensive. I think that's the best way to describe it.

I would like to see a sequel that's nothing but Han, Chewie, and Lando pissing off Maul for two hours.

The Maul cameo was honestly embarrassing.

I don't understand how that is something you could find "embarrassing." Like, I get if you didn't care about it but embarrassing? That's strange.

My theater loved it. Seems that was the reaction from a lot of theaters, based on what I'm seeing here and on Twitter.

Come on, the direction was bad, of all things?

Movie was pretty good. L3 was hilarious. Han and Lando seemed on point enough. Jarvis taking Ls this year lol. Not the greatest, but not at all bad. Question that I'm sure has been answered once or twice..who was the Sith, and when, exactly, does this take place? Almost feels like they left room for a sequel..

Just some initial thoughts, absolutely loved it. It may not technically be as good as The Last Jedi but I enjoyed this one way more. May be my favourite of the new movies. Alden Ehrenich was an even more excellent choice for Han Solo than I expected. Lando definitely didn't steal the show.

My theater reacted to literally nothing. None of the jokes, none of the fan service, none of the action beats. Honestly I wasn't even impressed with Glover.

How many times was this script going to fake out Qira's true loyalties?

I really enjoyed the movie, way more than I thought it would. Really liked Aiden and Emilia, was actually surprised I liked them more than Donald.

Is this the first Star Wars movie that doesn't have R2D2 and C3PO in it?

I couldn't believe a significant plot point would totally confuse anyone who didn't watch the freaking clone wars cartoon. My jaw dropped.

That was Darth Maul, he was revived in the Clone Wars cartoon. Regarding time, based on things going on I would guess 5-10 years prior to Star Wars.
