Life is Strange is one of my faves, but everything I've seen of this game seems boring af. According to Wikipedia it has completely different ppl serving as directors, producers etc, so I wouldn't use a love for LiS as the sole indicator as to whether you'll like this or not

I like the devs, the fact they're actually doing good, and that seems reasonable. If it's good I'll buy it.

I just checked and you can get it for ÂŁ25 from the grey market, or ÂŁ32 from an official reseller which is much more reasonable.

Game is probably d.o.a. but I'm interested for sure. They score some major brownie points for going against trends. I'm sure it'll backfire immensely though (please prove my cynical self wrong).

A deep discount sale, addition to Plus/GwG, or viewing on YouTube.

Like most single player non service games in 2017.

That doesn't bode well for this game then. It has no real marketing, it is not a first party game, it is not a AAA game. So pretty much it is doomed.

That's too bad. I guess all the people who hate the trend away from single player games to Gaas model all need to buy multiple copies to ensure success.

The hurtful truth. You always hear people complain about single player games dying and then, when a single player game release, you start hearing all the excuses of the world for not buying said game.

I bought The Last Guardian day one and I'm proud of it!

There you go, ERA. Your single player, no MT game. What are you waiting for?
Reviews and concern that the game will be worth getting.

From gameplay I've seen, Vampyr looks less like a vampire game and more like a pretty traditional aRPG/action adventure game with some vampire elements and a cool gothic/Victorian atmosphere. If the game didn't have brawling combat and such, I'd be much more interested.

About the 500K units needed, worth pointing out the game's budget is apparently 11 millions € (French):

Ce jeu, doté d'un budget de développement de 11 millions d'euros, se déroule à Londres lors de l'épidémie de fièvre espagnole de 1910. Il est édité par un autre français, Focus Home Interactive.

It doesn't take into account other costs such as marketing or retail I guess.

You can feed on all the NPCs of the game. There are 60 of them and they all have a name, a story, a life... If you kill one, it will reconfigure the district that person lived in and all its close relationships will be impacted.

There is also a strong lore from the vampire mythology. One example: You cannot enter someone's house until you have managed to be invited to enter.

It really is a vampire game above all IMO.

only 499.999 copies to go friends.
I decided to actually fight my trained habbits and buy more AA single player games without discounts.
Divinity 2, Elex, Hellblade all been worth every penny and Iam sure this one will be aswell, and if its just for the courage to bring something like this to market.

I liked Bloodlines, I like Dr. Acula, and I like Dontnod. So I'll be contributing towards that number, unless it turns out to be not so good.
I'm really interested in this. Any specific release date other than Q1?
Nope. In fact the release date is an even less specific "spring 2018".

I haven't heard of this game until this thread... Watched E3 gameplay demo and it seems to be pretty interesting. I will keep an eye out, always willing to support good developer.

If the reviews are strong I'm in. Unfortunately what I've seen of the game so far hasn't pulled me in. It's a shame. Life is Strange is probably my favorite game ever.

Like any game I hope it's good and I hope it's in turn successful. Nice to know they're not building microtransactions into the game (I would have been thoroughly surprised to find them there anyway), but I'll need to know more than that before I help Focus/Dontnod hit their 500k/1m target. :P

Actually a modest and very doable goal.

But that seems like a big jump from profitable (500,000) to successful (1,000,000)? If 500,000 is profitable you would think something like 800,000 would still be successful.

The publisher(Focus) should provide effort to advertise and promote the game, given DontNod has already made good games.

It is going to need some good reviews and push by some influencers for them to reach even 500k. I'll be there day1 as long as the reviews arent too bad, since I loved LiS.

Sadly, you speak the truth, Mat.

Regarding single player software in general, publishers and PS+/GWG have conditioned the average consumer to wait for deep discounts or hope the game is given away for free via subscription. It's the reality we live in.

Had no idea it was made by the same developer as Life is Strange. Vampyr looks kinda dull so far but LiS is one of the best games I've played this gen, will definitely support if this reviews decently.

The game has potential and it's working with a non-saturated area of the market. The studio build a good reputation with Life is Strange. If the game scores well with the critics, it can reach the 1 million goal. I'm interested!

Vampyr is the upcoming Action-RPG from Dontnod the french studio behind Remember Me and Life is Strange.
Speaking to MCVUK, Focus Home Entertainment, the publisher behind the game said that Vampyr will not feature DLCs or Microtransaction, it will be a complete game.

If they manage to sell at least 500.000 copies across all the three platforms (PC, PS4 and One), Vampyr will be profitable, with 1 million units will be considered a success.
Under these conditions, I will support this. Wish them the best of success.

I'd buy it if only it's female protagonist.
What a shame! Really enjoyed Life is Strange, somewhat enjoyed Remember me.

Ehhh I think it might struggle a bit to reach that goal, gameplay footage - especially the early stuff looked incredibly rough.
