This video just scared the shit out of me. I'm 29 (the age TotalBiscuit was), have been having some similar GI problems he described, and have a family history of colon cancer. I think I should probably get it checked out.

Don't wait, don't put it off. Make an appointment today or tomorrow latest. Colon cancer is one of the most survivable cancers, IF caught early.

Hope it turns out to be nothing. good luck.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see the birmingham video was already posted

Redeye tweeted afterwards that he will donate all his salary from the tournament to cancer research:

That's just sad. Glad to see the many condolences, even by the guys from Blizzard or ESL.

A few years back I lost my sister and then my mother to cancer. It affected me so much that I still tend to stay out of threads like this. You eventually come to grips with what has happened, but you never stop feeling the loss. Whenever I see a thread like this it just opens the hole in my heart that was left after my loved ones passed. I hope his family finds solace in the fact that he was loved and appreciated by so many people. I wish them well, and if I could talk to them I would say
"It gets better. Eventually you will start thinking more about the good times you shared and less about the loss. Thinking of him will make you smile more and cry less or smile while you are crying as you remember what he meant to you. God bless."
Makes me sad as well. Keep up the positive attitude!

You definitely should (especially if your relatives have/had cancer), TB said it himself he had symptoms for some time and ignored them until it got more serious.

Very sad to hear, no matter if its someone you know or not.
Seems like he impacted many lives, from fans to developers as well.

Condolences to the family.

So, i've only ever watched a few videos a few years ago, i see people talking about him having strong integrity and high standard, do you guys refer to something in particular and have examples? Just out of curiosity and for the sake of legacy.

I was always aware of him, but unfortunately never followed him closely enough to comment in any meaningful depth. I remember watching a couple of his longform reviews a few years ago, and found his sense of concern for the consumer's welfare both remarkable and commendable, in an industry both devoid of and increasingly hostile towards the concept of watchdogs and advocates. Rest in peace and may cancer go fuck itself cutting short life, such young life in this case.

Strong memories of googling WTF is Space Pirates and Zombies (SPAZ) or other humble bundle acquisitions,
watching his video on it, then playing them for like 4 hours straight. Then the next name in the bundle and repeating for weeks.

Some real aholes coming out of the woodwork on Twitter who I'm sure like to market themselves as socially liberal yet can't wait to shit on a dead person.

I literally gasped when I saw the news. May he rest in piece. My feelings go out to his family and friends.

In-game vigil by the Warframe community

There's a screenshot of Rebecca Ford attending as The Lotus, but sadly I can't find it now.

Please do. If that video helps get you motivated to get checked and potentially avoid something really tragic, I think it would make Mr. Bain happy.

I saw that Twitch clip of the Warframe community managers last night, but when I saw it again today I actually teared up.

Sucks. I didn't view his content much but I enjoyed what I saw and he seems to have been one of the earlier most prominent people in the youtube movement.

I'm not taking responsibility for whatever you've seen on twitter, it's probably real trashy stuff, but I don't think the "dead = no criticism allowed" norm is healthy. Everyone dies, doing so doesn't give you a free pass for all the bad stuff you've done while alive. That said, criticising can be done respectfully and with tact.

While I didn't like TB's stance on several things, I still think it's sad for someone so young to die. I absolutely wouldn't wish this fate on him or pretty much anyone for that matter.

This is the video where he first talked about his cancer and how he discovered that he had it.

Watched the video, and I was surprised that they knock you out during colonoscopy over there. I went through it few years ago fully conscious, with only anaesthetic ointment spread there, and I can tell you it didn't feel good. Particularly when the tube went through the angles in the bowels.

I spent some time thinking about this today and I really felt a numbness, and not out of a lack of feeling, but a deep one making me feel my own mortality very hard.

Really, best to his family and friends.

I agree but at least wait until the dude has been buried. I've seen tweets saying he was sexist or supported gamergate and he died from cancer. As if it's some kind of justice. Disgusting.

"Criticizing" on the day of is hardly respectful or tactful, as the mod edit says in the OP.

I started noticing blood in my stool with some regularity combined with getting constipated on a regular basis whereas I was perfectly fine beforehand a few months back. Had all the blood tests and the poop test and a CT scan and then a colonoscopy.
Still no idea what's actually going on down there, which is kind of scary but at least I know I don't have cancer. Get yourself to a doctor. It should be the priority of anyone of any age who notices a sudden change with their body, especially when it involves blood in the stool or a change in your regular bowel motions.

It's important. Don't put it off.

I wish the best for his family and friends.

All the tweets ive seen are the usual type of suspects who could not wait for him to be gone just so they could demonize him.

Its honestly disgusting that these people say they fight against gamergate or whatever other social injustices yet have hearts black as coal. Even roping TB's colleagues into it like Jesse.

Theres a time and place for everything but it also must be done respectfully.

People talk all the time how vile the internet can be, boy have I been seeing it with this. I've seen several developers celebrating his death, and I've pretty much decided never to buy anything from those developers who are doing that. I've never been so revolted by people.

If people start trying to write smear pieces on gaming sites I won't have any sympathy for them when their sites inevitably shut down due to their irrelevancy. I'm not downplaying some of the things John said and did, even he would admitted he commited many errors and in the last few years tried to make up for some of them. No one is perfect and everyone can make mistakes.

But I guess if you're not mixing in or supporting the right crowds or rubbing the right elbows then you've got a target on your back when you can't defend yourself.

I honestly hope that people here are better than that.

Really? I assumed all of Europe also uses Propofol to knock their patients before a gastro/colonoscopy. At least that's what we do here in Switzerland.

From Monday:

When I first heard the news yesterday, it was like being hit in the gut—the air was knocked out and me and I was stunned. From following him on Twitter, I wasn't surprised by the news, but it was still shocking that it actually happened.

I never interacted with him, but this has still hit me really hard. I spent hours last night sobbing and reading stories about him from the people he's helped and supported. Many of my favorite Twitch streamers got big boosts from him, including one well before he was a streamer.

My favorite moments of the Co-optional Podcast were when Dodger and Jesse were being hammy enough that TB's stoic, grumpy facade cracked just a little bit. A rare, but delightful thing.

I think Mentally he knew he was done. I also heard (but not sure if its true) that before people die from Cancer they feel better because a lot of their senses start to fade. So sad ;_;

Celebrating his death is awful, but I don't think that's what most critics of him are doing. He's being almost unanimously hailed as a positive icon and hero of gaming despite his involvement in the absolute darkest moment in gaming history, which is the issue some have. Plenty of people are sad that he's gone because he could have helped reform a lot of the angry young men that were in his fanbase.

Unless it's against the rules, would you mind sharing the names of these developers? I want to avoid them too.

TB felt better because he had just come out of an operation that allowed them to drain fluids from his body. Those fluids were putting pressure on his spine, causing him enormous, constant pain. It's harder to know what he meant by the mental part (he was dictating this tweet to Genna, btw). I had noticed that his medication was causing him to not be quite there in his Twitter messages recently, so it might have been that. It was sometimes challenging to understand what he was trying to say because of this.

to reduce risk of cancer:

-take a lot of supplements, especially B, C and D vitamins.
-eat healthy
-avoid fast food as much as you can. (I know this is hard)
-exercise a little now and then
-dont smoke
-drink moderately

Nope. Not here in Finland, at least not in the private clinic I went to. Dunno about the more expensive ones. The feeling was nearly unbearable when it went through the first angle, and the same occurred when it was pulled out.

I watched his everspace wtf this morning and remembered he was battling cancer and wondered if he was doing better. This is devastating.

He was quick to soft ban me on his youtube comments me for disagreeing with him, but at least he acknowledged me and took the time to wax poetic on how wrong I was(notice me senpia!) He was a young curmudgeon and that was okay with me. God rest his soul.

As If I needed another reason to scream fuck cancer, my fiancée's uncle was diagnosed recently and isn't doing so well.
