So you spend like 30 seconds lowering their health and then the next ten minutes throwing balls?
So you spend 10 minutes fighting the gym? Just give me the badge. So you spend like 30 seconds lowering their health and then the next ten minutes throwing balls?
My assumption is it's a stat that is relevant when transferring to Pokémon Go and has no real relevancy in this game.
i am now...just wanted to get that out :)
Yet here you are excited for a game with the same damn battle system. How curious.
As an aside, I'm pretty sure Legendaries will be caught like in PoGo Raid Battles: first you defeat them, then you try to catch them. Otherwise, it would be terribly anticlimatic.
Seeing them reiterate that next year's games are more traditional or "main line" as if trying to avoid backlash is worrying, honestly. There's a scenario here that I feel is likely and is the worst route to go with these new games.
First Go P/E removes entire elements to the point of oversimplification to capture the mobile audience, but also introduces significant additions. Like the pokeball tossing and visual overworld encounter system.
Then next year's mainline games go straight back to old mechanics, forgoing the additions made in Go P/E.
So then you're in a Sonic situation where there's a separation for classic and new fans and the series doesn't really go anywhere. Even if some of the games are good, it feels like a cheap way to cover your bases instead of understanding what makes the games appealing and expanding on that.
I just want the series to move forward. There's no reason they can't make changes and improvements that respect the core of the game.
Probably not, if you're talking about traditional oneQuestion: I've never played a Pokemon game in my life. This will be my first. Is it a good place to start?
Well, let me go ahead and tell my 8 year old daughter who loves Pokemon and Pokemon Go that a bunch of old men on an internet forum say she is wrong and Pokemon is not really geared towards someone her age anyway but to some old fogies who know better. While I am at it, that you all demand her lunch money too.

So it looks like the Pokedex descriptions are taken from Pokemon Yellow, which isn't terribly surprising.
This appears to be the pause menu. There are three options:
- Save your progress
- Take your Pokemon for a stroll
- Back to your adventure
Hopefully previous menu functions are assigned to other buttons (D-pad maybe?), because I find it hard to believe we wouldn't be able to access the bag or party screen in some way.
Heavily tying into a mobile game will do that.
Even better, a gutted battle system stripped back down to less than it was when the game first came out if the reworked stat thing is trueYet here you are excited for a game with the same damn battle system. How curious.
Ive never seen a thread where opinions are so split evenly down the middle.
And preventing a KO, using paralysis, etc...
I'm not saying it's complicated, just don't pretend it's just throwing balls.
My bet that, as in GO, you will need to battle him before catching him. In Pokemon Go, you have Raids with legendary, pseudo-legendary and other strong/rare Pokemon. You team up with more people, and take the Pokemon down with your team. After said battle, you can catch the Raid Pokemon (or try, that Fucking Lugia escaped every single ball I threw at him)

It isn't a bad place to start but there'll be a culture shock with the 2019 game because of how different it's gonna be. If you want a more traditional Pokemon game get Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon.
Top down, no camera control, tile-based landscape - all features of a bygone era from the 90's. How people defend this crap from the behemoth franchise that is Pokemon is baffling to me.
While I'm not loving random battles being removed, I get it. This game is for a certain audience. Y'all are getting your more traditional Pokemon game in 2019. This game is just a bonus. It looks fun to me, something to hold us over until the core game releases.
Ive never seen a thread where opinions are so split evenly down the middle. Waiting to see the battle system before I make judgement.
I'm sort of thinking the games will play through most of the main campaign without having to battle wild Pokemon, but that would be weird on the Mewtwo encounter specifically.
So, at Mewtwo, here's a battle that you actually have to fight, then capture him. Thus having slowly worked players into knowing to weaken and capture Pokemon, past that you'd be able to do so, in the normal sense versus the Go-like way up to that point.
this game is a big OG safari zone.Exactly the same could be said for the new Go style system though. We probably have to use items to enhance catch rate we have to aim and we have to time the throw. Also there's probably the chance that the Pokemon will run away like in Go. It's different but not less involved than the old way imo.
It's not a lot really, you can only actually catch a set amount.I guess my biggest worry is the fact that it can seem overwhelming when there are SO many Pokemon to catch in the later game and I tend to be a completionist. Also...I don't have a 3DS.
Do we know how fly works? From the trailer it looks you can roam freely but maybe I'm wrong.
5 more Pokémon is better than 650 less.were you fine with them releasing Ultra Sun and Moon which was very similar to the first games but with 5 new Pokemon and some story stuff?
There are only so many pokemon in each title, the rest come over from older games that people use pokemon bank for or online trading if they don't have the older gamesI guess my biggest worry is the fact that it can seem overwhelming when there are SO many Pokemon to catch in the later game and I tend to be a completionist. I'm holding out hope that trainers will become progressively more interesting in subsequent battles. I know it's a bit of a long shot. There will be some sort of supplement for the absence of wild pokemon battles. I don't suppose they're making a game that is completely devoid of challenge.
