I've seen that, but how do we know they're correct? Where did GameSpot get their info from if it wasn't in the Q&A, and why haven't other outlets reported it separately? There's been enough misinformation going around as it is, so I could easily see GameSpot being wrong about this too, especially since they're the only ones reporting it.
Lots of other outlets have reported it, like IGN.

Confirmed Info

Check Sources at bottom if you're gonna ask where's the source

General
-Inspired by Pokemon Yellow
-Setting sees players returning to Kanto Region
-Pokemon Go is not required
-Transfer Pokemon from Go into Let's Go (one way xfer). Early info indicates Pokemon moved from Go to Let's Go will appear in the Go Park where players must capture them again in Let's Go P/E.
-Version differences: In addition to determining your first partner Pokémon, there will be some differences in the species of Pokémon that you encounter and the rate at which you encounter them based on whether you choose Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!
-Follow Pokemon return
-Local Coop By sharing one of the Joy-Con controllers with a partner, two players can adventure at the same time. Throw Poké Balls together when you encounter Pokémon to boost your chances of successfully catching them, or have a friend lend a hand by joining you in battles against Trainers in your game.
-Your starter Pikachu or Eevee cannot evolve in the Let's Go games.
-Masuda confirmed that first 150 Pokemon as well as their Alolan forms from Sun and Moon
-There is no Pokemon breeding (and therefore no eggs) in Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee.
-Masuda confirmed that you will be able to trade Pokemon between the Let's Go games.
-You can connect with other people in Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee via both local wireless and Wi-Fi, Masuda confirmed. Though you can battle online, there are no ranked battles in the Let's Go games.
-Customization options shown in trailer for dressing Pikachu/Eevee

Pokeball Plus
-Pokeball shaped Joycon
-Control stick and button on top, LED lights around middle, vibration function
-Compatible only with Pokemon Go and LGPE
-3 hr battery life
-$40-45
-Can be used as a Pokemon Go Pro accessory

Wild Pokemon Encounters
-No wild pokemon battles
-Wild Pokemon appear in overworld, walk up to them to initiate catch sequence
-Use of Go Capture Mechanics
-Masuda did mention during our Q&A session that the Let's Go games are like any other main Pokemon RPGs in that they're both "accessible" but with "depth" for those who want it
-Trailer Shows Wild Pokemon with Level(from old games) and CP(from Pokemon Go)
dM83zQ2.png

Trainer Battles
-Seems to retain older RPG battle system
-XP gain from catching Pokemon and defeating trainers, though Masuda said the leveling system hasn't been finalized yet
-Trailer shows only level not CP in trainer battles

Thank you very much for your hard work.

You can add that a mystery Pokemon will also be included in the games.

is there any news that all the puzzles in the caves/st. anne/silph company, etc. will remain?

Or will they remove all the puzzles?

Yeah and no one is saying they should remove the battle system, just happy random encounters are gone. I sure am, cause I dislike them. Now I'll wait and see how they make up for that balance wise.
My problem with the removal of random encounters (and I like them, and am disappointed that they were removed from DQ as well) is that you never had to have a random encounter if you didn't want to have one. Players have always had the choice to use repel if they didn't want a random encounter. Now players who want a random encounter have no way to do so. That also ignores the fact they replaced wild pokemon encounters with a pitching mini game.

I expect Pokémon catching to be challenge by itself the higher the level. There is definitively more to this than just throw Pokeballs. Also, the fact that the act of catching Pokémon gives you exp is a very welcomed feature.

And yeah, I hope we get to battle legendaries and some other rare Pokémon first before capturing them. I would love if we finally get proper Pokémon Boss Battles rather than just training.

The fact that people can't realize that the internet raged over the USUM announcement, expected a Pokemon game this year, and are actually surprised they chose to do a smaller scope game to hit this year and push the core game next year is sad.
The outrage is really stupid. Anyone who played USUM should be thanking the heavens that GameFreak is actually taking their time with Gen 8 to hopefully deliver a fully-realized game with lots of content. You don't want a 2018 core game if it means it's USUM quality.

Let's Go is a weird combination of mainline and spin-off, but it is by no means a threat to the core series. I don't even play Pokémon GO. I've spent hundreds of hours breeding Pokémon for competitive and huge Battle Tower/Maison/Tree streaks. I'm probably more of a hardcore Pokémon player than most people on this board, and there is absolutely no reason anyone should feel threatened or outraged by Let's Go. The anger is insanely stupid.

So if there are no wild pokemon battles, how do you level up?
Just by battling other trainers?

Again, the ONLY thing I'm outraged by is that evolutions and, to a lesser extent, baby Pokemon were left out in favor of just the 151 and Alolan forms.

I'm just going to say, by the way, that the only way I'd be happy with this project is if they added all of the later evolutions:

- Espeon
- Umbreon
- Leafeon
- Glaceon
- Sylveon
- Crobat
- Bellossom
- Politoed
- Slowking
- Steelix
- Scizor
- Kingdra
- Porygon2
- Porygon-Z
- Blissey
- Magnezone
- Lickilicky
- Rhyperior
- Tangrowth
- Electivire
- Magmortar

Heck, maybe Hitmontop as well.

Do people not believe in having something to look forward to anymore?
You know they will come eventually. I mean there is no question at all.
What is with this whole Veruca routine everyone seems to be doing?

That's not official confirmation. They could have easily added the ability to breed Pokémon to the existing Pokémon Day Care on Route 5, or there could be some kind of post-game Day Care like the Four Island one in the Sevii Islands of FireRed/LeafGreen.

We can deduce there is no breeding, because if there were they wouldn't have said that the game is limited the the original 151 pokemon and some Alolan forms.

Well if you enjoy random encounters then sure, you have a reason to be upset with their removal. I still say we wait and see how they plan to balance things. There may be other ways to initiate battles that we don't know about yet.

The fact that people can't realize that this game gives you something to do with those Mon you caught in GO is sad.

The fact that people can't realize this game is a full inspired Yellow remake with simplified mechanics for a wider market is sad.

The fact that people can't realize that the internet raged over the USUM announcement, expected a Pokemon game this year, and are actually surprised they chose to do a smaller scope game to hit this year and push the core game next year is sad.

The fact that people aren't even open to a different direction for one of the 'stalest' franchises around is sad.

Let's Go wasn't my exact vision of what I wanted on Switch, but that's coming next year. I have no issue with a new way to play Pokemon, and I wasn't even into GO. Now I have a reason to try it again.

I get you, but I stopped playing GO a long time ago, so that doesn't matter to me. I think some hardcore fans feel the same way.

The fact that this is a Yellow remake with none of the advancements from the next 6 Generations of games is the reason for my disappointment, not the GO integration.

I think people do recognize that, just many no longer have faith in Game Freak to deliver a game without nostalgia pandering or are afraid of Game Freak's trigger finger in removing features previously available in older games. Which is a very extreme reaction, but I get it anyways.

I do think it's a little sad people can't acveot these games for what they are. The art style is so cute and visuals are honestly great imo, that alone has be excited.

I agree with this, not sure the Gen VIII Games will be what I want either tho. I'll have to wait for next year to see if it is.

Both IGN and GameSpot say that he said both, presumably the transcript released isn't the whole Q&A.
Lots of other outlets have reported it, like IGN.
I've not seen IGN's mention of there being no ranked battles or breeding, do you have a link? I have seen other sites report it, but GameSpot was their source. This info didn't come out of the live Q&A coverage either, so I just find it really odd. That's not to say that I don't believe ranked battles and/or breeding may not be included, but everyone's treating it as confirmed information when it has yet to be stated online officially by The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, or Nintendo yet like most of the other information, and with other misinformation having been reported earlier, I think it'd be wise to not consider it officially confirmed until it comes straight from The Pokémon Company or Nintendo.

Okay, I was somewhat mistaken, IGN has no ranked battles, but not the bit about breeding in theirs.

Looks like it could be fun. I haven't played a Pokemon game since Yellow but that's mainly because I didn't do any gaming on the DS/3DS and I'm not into mobile gaming, either.

Might give this a try if the co-op is good. Could be fun to play with my wife.

There is zero guarantee that they will be added to these games.
The Pokemon model from the beginning has been adding new Pokemon. Whether it be via DLC, special events or the next in the series.
Even Pokemon Go started with a baseline and added to that baseline.
So unless you are cruising so far up hate town that you have passed the salt flats and are now in denial , when you think about it considering it has been the model for both versions of Pokemon there really is a safe guarantee unless another game never gets made.

No, there has never been a mainline Pokemon game that added new Pokemon via DLC. It has never happened.

Heck, look at S/M vs US/UM. The latter added like two new Pokemon and they can't be transferred backwards, even though they're the same generation of games.

taking for granted that they will expand the dex in some significant way is disingenous at best.

His/her main point is that those gen 1 evolutions could be added in later. Not necessarily through DLC but a patch.
