The name + the engine trailer makes me think they're going open-world. Or at the very least far more open-ended than any previous Halo game. This also falls in line with the rumors that 343 scrapped their plans for continuing this trilogy they were building with 4 and 5. The fact that the game is taking longer to develop would also make sense if they were truly building something bigger for the franchise.

Either way, I'm ready to see more.

Things that didn't have a release date mean at least 2020.

I cannot believe we have Halo 5 and MCC for another 2 years. LOL

Game looks really good. I like the art direction so far and the open world design they seem to be showing.

No date. Won't be shocked if this is a launch title in 2020 for the next xbox. Need a Kotaku article giving us the inside info on why this game isn't coming out this year. Just can't believe they couldn't hit the normal three year cycle. Not going to buy that it's bc they needed time to develop a new engine.
Why not? Shit is expensive. Halo has been iterating on the same engine since Halo 2. Plus it looks like an open-world game or some kind of reimagining of Halo, which obviously exacerbates the length of production.

MGSV was an open-world pivot to a new engine and that took, what, five years? And they didn't even finish that game.

As much as I love the artstyle and what the teaser is saying to us, I really doubt the game will look anywhere near this good, unless it's a next gen game.

I for sure thought MCC was also going to be announced for PC on that gamepass announcement. PC players are going to need to catch up somehow....

Words can't express how happy the art style change makes me.

The trailer definitely gives that vibe of 'this isn't coming out for ages', which is a bit odd considering it's been so long since Halo 5, but it's good that they're taking their time with it. I'm getting the impression this is going to be a pretty big jump for the series, the longer it spends in the oven the better IMO.

Question, though, Sparth has a NEW art style? I was under the impression that the current art style he brought to Halo was similarly/already inspired by the history of the franchise when he joined on Halo 4?

Either way, can't wait to see how it ends up looking (as I assume the tech demo is not reflective of the art style change), and I hope the game is good enough to pull me back to Xbox. I reiterate, Sparth da GAWD.

Looks great, CE vibes.

The series needed a break, the amount of salt in the community, some deserved, really took away from the allure of the franchise.

I'd say this is going to be a launch title for the next system which will be BC with the old systems I'm sure.

I haven't been excited about Halo is years but depending on what this turns out to be, I might be looking forward to it again. I really liked seeing the old armor.

Looks fantastic. Though with Gears 5 announced as a 2019 title and no date here, plus the confirmation of the next Xbox... there is zero doubt in my mind that this will either be cross-gen or a launch title for the Next Xbox.

I'm so happy with the artstyle change. It looks sooooo much better. It looks like Halo again.

The armor design looks much more streamlined and closer to the original trilogy - which is great. Looks like 343 have been listening to the complaints about their art direction being over-designed.

Even though details are scarce, I'm not at all disappointed that this is a 2020+ game. The new engine, the art style, and the gameplay implications in the title and the teaser are all tantalizing and I'm happy to wait. I want this game to be to Halo what God of War 4 was for its series.

The real issue is that 343 don't appear to have anything in the pipeline between now and Infinite. I seriously question the longevity of H5 and MCC. Both games are at the tail-end of their lifespan; where will they be in two years? I doubt Microsoft are content to allow the franchise to fade into obsolescence - even temporarily - for any length of time.

This slipspace engine looks insane. And the art direction for the next halo is on point. Like holy shit that was perfect. Seeing Master Chief's armor made me shriek. So glad they decided to build a new engine for Halo.

Very curious as to what this is, but I'm really glad it feels different, new, and mysterious.

Probably not until 2020... potential next gen launch game / cross gen.

Hyped as hell to see this opening the conference. Really wish we'd seen more though.

I'm guessing full blow out next year with a release 2019 or 2020?

That trailer in 4K, even as an engine demonstration was fucking phenomenal.

I can confirm the rhino looking things did not run at half frame rate. Halo is saved

But seriously, the new artstyle, in this preview looks amazing. Hopefully we get more news soon
