I just feel like it always was only going to be Midgar for Episode 1 once they announced it was going to be episodic

Which totally makes sense. There's no point in going out into that open world unless you make that a core part of your gameplay, which they will probably do in Episode II.
I do think it's a shame, though.... part of the beauty of Midgar was that you are led to believe it's the whole game, and then the big surprise is that it isn't. Kind of a shame if it is the whole episode... but oh well. It isn't the original game.
So a new leak for MHW just happened and its for a FF Behemoth. If that's intended to be shown at the Sony show tonight, then maybe there will be a final fantasy segment to tie it together...just saying.

Yes, but they didn't show this part during the SE conference, they only showed the FFIV part. So, seemingly, theyre saving side for something else. Not a big leap to think they could be saving it for Sony tonight.
Could be, I believe something related to Square will definitely shows up at Sony's conference.

This is gonna be as bad as Crisis Core ending + Gakct, with all the beloved FF7 scenes changed for cringeworthy post-xiii dialogue and worthless tucked in filler.
