Indeed, as the representation of Ellie possibly making a mistake in the past and Joel paying the price with his life, hauting Ellie for the rest of her life.

Makes sense, but we only saw the first gameplay for the second part. Also, that picture with pregnant woman, some people thought it's Ellie.

However, they have literally only ever showed Ellie to be romantically involved with women and had an entire DLC be her coming of age story and break out of her sexuality as a growing child.
Ergo, she is gay until we see evidence otherwise.
Unless you missed Left Behind, Ellie had an entire side story about her sexuality being shown and a major part of her character arc for the original game and clearly in this game.
That first trailer was just a tone piece, it doesn't have anything to do with the actual game. It was just a reveal sorta thing.
The reality is those people are absolutely not ok with queer characters, they only say they are to avoid backlash. "Crammed down my throat" really just means "depicted on-screen in any way", and as you say, when they're not depicted on screen these people try to downplay or deny the character's queerness. The character is either not queer, or rammed down your throat, there's no winning with them because they don't want queer characters to exist, period.
I believe Druckman has come out and said that the first trailer isn't actually an ingame sequence. So I'm not sure if we should be taking anything away from that in terms of implications on the story.
I mean, thematically it makes zero sense for Joel to literally spend the entire first game completing his character arc, only to throw it away because Ellie is gay. It doesn't make any sense.
It's really amazing what Sony studios have been able to do with a mature hardware. If we had any doubts about TLOUS2 looking as good, if not better than GoW, we can now rest assured.
As for Ellie as a lesbian, I thought it was a beautiful scene. The brutality does not offend me, but it is very explicit indeed. Naught Dog.... you are the best studio IMO.

First trailer is a reveal piece and engine showcase, nothing else, ND has stated it will not be in the game.
After reading the PS blog and finding out she is in Jackson, Wyoming i'm super excited. We are going to be able to see Yellowstone national park and probably explore that area before heading to Seattle, Washington.

The trailer looked amazing and the lesbian representation doesn't bother me one bit but I feel like I've had enough of realistic gore and violence (at least as a main gameplay mechanic). Do I really want to come back home after a long work day to play this?

Edit: I don't think it was cold. They were like me and 100% locked in on the scene. It was a quiet scene and they were soaking it in. And for all allies to be quiet is really rare.

I can't even believe there's kiss controversy in 2018. I thought this looked amazing start to finish and thought nothing of it, or if anything thought it was fitting for the character. Can't wait to play this.
