Maybe not but as long as they don't lose the horror again, that's all that matters really. They are certainly embracing the atmosphere / horror again with RE7 and now this remake, so I'm more than happy. Hopefully RE8 will stick to this as well.

The action is fine to a point, all RE games have some action and as long as they don't go stupid like RE6 again (which was more like Call of Duty than RE) it will be fine.

They Can Continue Action Coop in Rev 3 or new subserie.

Can't wait for the Claire preview to help give us all the information we need.

In game RE2R Claire looks great.

Funny how with the rest the art render looks best but with RER2 it's the in game model.

Imo they actually did a pretty good job If you ignore the hot mess in the middle and just compare between the original and the remake, i think they just took inspiration from the original model and started from zero for all the characters. i expect Ada to look really different too and probably more asian then ever.

I'm going to be honest here, all this new footage looks a little underwhelming and it has lowered my expectations. It's mostly because of the combat.

- The bullet reactions for the zombies doesn't look very satisfying. The zombies sometime don't even react. It looks very similar to RE6, which kinda sucked in that regard.

- Why does the pistol sound like a peashooter?

- The reload animation for the pistol looks weak.

- Ditch that crosshair already Capcom! It's big, ugly and ruins the immersion.

- When you aim the gun the camera moves instantly when moving the control stick like in RE6 instead of having Leon move his arms around a bit before the camera starts to move like in RE4.

This makes the gunplay look less satisfying (this is a problem with a lot of games). It makes Leon look like a robot too.

- General animations with Leon look a little iffy at times.

The atmosphere looks pretty good, but man, the combat looks so lacklustre and just not that fun. If you're going to take inspiration from RE4, atleast do it right. I expect more. This is a game where "it's good enough" won't quite cut it for me.
It's a survival horror game, you're meant to be weak and combat is a last resort.

Absolutely love what we've seen. Disapointed in the lack of music though, espcially in the main hall.

Ambient music or themes might still be part of the full game. This is just a demo. Also I think Capcom have announced that the original soundtrack is part of the Coll. Edition, and you will be able to actually apply the soundtrack to the game.

Sure hope they will release the demo for this.

All these wonderful third party games shown at E3 and this ends up being my favourite game reveal, despite only playing Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5 (on the split screen local co-op mode) and Resident Evil VII.

I have no emotional attachment to the original three games so, it is all the more impressive that I want this game more than any other third party game!

I just hope it isn't that dark all the way through the police department though...

Wasn't one of the released screenshots a close up of a typewriter? Trying to hit that nostalgia but not including the ink ribbon mechanic is a shame. Hopefully it's included in hard mode.

Yeah, that's what I was hoping, that it's just not in the demo.

It's great that the OST is available as well (I will get the collector's edition) but will sound a bit out of place with the aesthetic. I was hoping for fitting rearrangements of the OST and hopefully we will get that.

No the developer confirmed you are not dodging and flying around.

Wouldn't the shotgun be in the STARS office? They never seem to get that far in the demo.

It's in a weapon locker on the first floor and you get the weapon locker card in the meeting room. Someone has gotten the shotgun from the other thread. But no footage of it in action.

Huber from Easy Allies is a noted fixed camera purist, and said after 5 mins he didn't care:

They also mention that it is noticeably slower than RE4

I think I've seen enough gameplay, everything looks smooth and the horror + survival aspects are really exciting. Now all I need to see is how Ada looks and I'm good till January. I can't wait to get my hands on this game, it's truly a dream come true!!

My only concern now that we know there's no scenarios, is that Leon's campaign will have a bit more effort put into it than Claire's because he's the MVP.

Claire's plot and side characters was always the stronger of the two for me.

Some thoughts after viewing a proper video (famitsu):

- The music in the hall sounds vaguely like bits and pieces of the outbreak rendition, but it's not enough, given the original title's iconic music, which still probably ranks among the best horror game soundtracks. I think it's certainly the best of its generation, so it's really disappointing to see here.
- Tense music not present in the original makes sense during encounters. Which means plugging in the original ost will probably feel a bit off.
- Interactions with zombies are tense, but there are also moments to think through where you need to go and what puzzles you need to solve.
- The notebook is a great addition .
- The shutter scene is probably one of the best in the series, in terms of early zombie encounters.
- Leon talking to himself sounds fine until he encounters enemies. Then it sounds unnatural. I'm reminded of Outbreak.

Overall it looks great though, and very reminiscent of 1.5. Very.

Can anyone care to explain to me what's this fixed camera thing that people are complaining about? The demo posted here looked impressive and the over the shoulder perspective gave me RE4 vibes which is what i wanted out of Re7 but Re7 went FPS perspective which was still great though. So tell me if it's following RE4's approach to camera perspective and overall game play feel, why are people angry about it?

Watched the 17-minute gameplay.

SO
FUCKING
GOOD

I preordered this so much. I hope this remains as the final cover art:

Dem teeth!
I'm always amazed that when someone becomes a zombie, arms and everything is hanging off/falls off yet they always have a perfect set of chompers.
Surely they all they could do is gum you to death?

Anyway that cover looks legit.

My memory at the time was always of Claire kind of being seen as the default character in 2, obviously that changed as soon as we got 4

I didn't see anyone fight the licker yet, but I saw it sneaking outside a first or second floor window. And then this...

Because some people would prefer Resident Evil 2's camera to 4's

They add a lot of atmosphere to the game and helped pull off an iconic look, that i haven't really seen any game other than Parasite Eve 2 pull off - and even then the ones in RE feel more artful, for lack of a better term. Simply rumning through a hallway is often a striking moment .A lot of people are very attached to them for this reason.

But for some reason the desire for these classic angles seems to have dwarfed all else for a number of fans, and they're unable to see a game that's clearly being made with the original survival horror gameplay in mind. A number of people also seem unable to shake the sense that OTS camera = action game and the horror game footage we've seen thus far hasn't convinced them otherwise.

I really hope that some of these people can take a step back, actually look at the game, and see that it's being made with a lot of their wishes in mind.

I see! So nothing done in one campaign will influence the other? It's basically like a Claire A, Leon B playthrough and nothing else?
Kinda', but the campaign adds elements of the A+B scenario for both characters, the two campaigns have some more drastic differences to each other than the original RE2, plus both have a LOT of new stuff and areas and even just playing one campaign is a lot longer than the original RE2.

Even to this day RE4 freaks me out whenever I play it and it's a masterpiece of a game, let alone it being the best RE game. Re2 taking inspiration from RE4 makes me happy!!

Disappointed that the game tells you what to do next, I was hoping for more free exploration a la classic RE.

Did the alligator make the cut
I don't know, there was a point in development the alligator kept being cut, then put back in, then cut, then put back in (as well as this one new monster in the sewer section, but I won't blab anymore than that), but I don't know the final result of that. I think it may make it in since it's a memorable scene of RE2 though, but like other parts of the game the sewer has seen some pretty drastic overhauls and when I heard about it there was some big changes being done to the sewers at the time.

Dope, I'm just excited for g mutations in re engine ...

I hope the two final Birkin forms blow minds

We expecting a decent length on each campaign? I assume both are very different to one another in terms of unique locations , bosses etc
