MS not going to be aquiring any studios for a while. They need to ship games from the studios they have just aquired and establish new relationships with independent studios like they did with Playground Games. Then maybe aquire them if they want to be bought.

WTF? RaD and Platinum struggling? :D lol

Listen, I never mentioned Platinum, I don't think Microsoft should buy Platinum at all. I was the one to suggest that they buy RAD though, because like Ninja Theory they fill the cinematic niche and going off their last game's commercial performance (Deformers) they may not be doing too well financially. I would much rather see them under Microsoft than closed down because they have pretty amazing potential as a developer.

They didn't announce a lot for this calendar year at e3, hopefully they can add many more b/c titles to help pad out the library until 2019

RaD? Yes, unless their relationship is broken with Sony after The Order. I see studio acquisitions partly based on studio history. Platinum? No. Obsidian? Absolutely not.
Sorry it doesn't work that way. If MS offers something more interesting/beneficial to the studio they will go with them. Take NT for example. Let's see what happens though. Phil has said they aren't done so I'm sure we will be getting more surprising acquisitions down the line.

edit: actually it was announced on the official page, so nevermind

old news, but a bit more confirmation that Splash Damage is indeed working on Gears Tactics

"Intern Level Designer @SplashDamage."

Something I also noticed about the studios acquisitions that they are in locations with a lot of other video game studios.

I understand that. Im just stating my personal view.

Ok but it's pretty disappointing that it's only coming to PC, why? This could work fine on Xbox. Look at Xcom and Rabbids.

Haven't played Xcom on console yet, but Rabbids is not a good comparison to XCOM 2 on PC, imo.

After watching the Cyberpunk trailer for the 100th time (I counted). Goddamn do I want a Perfect Dark game set in a similar world.

Has there been any other Crackdown footage? I want to see more. The improvement was clear, a much fuller game world and things to do. And I'd like to see some direct feed footage like last year or is that not there this time?

I'm not sure if this interview with Phil on mixer is live or a rebroadcast but it's pretty good but I really wish there were some questions about more of the niche Japanese titles the xbox doesn't get. But a good interview with theixer community manager.

I for one think it's awesome they are developing PC focused titles. Not EVERYTHING needs to come day and date on XB1. I don't really expect Age of Empires 4 to "traditionally" be available on Xbox either...and that's a good thing to make the game the best it can be on the target platform

Probably saving it for another event. Microsoft knows it can't fuck up the first impreesions of gameplay after delaying and investing more money into it.

Maybe those games can come over once KB&M support finally lands on Xbox.

You clearly didn't see what Thomas said about a potential acquisition in the Era discord then!

Any quotes? I keep hearing he's a definite "no" but curious about the philosophy (it's fine, I respect it, just curious really)

xbox elite V2: ( hardware) -- (( this years was the accessibility controller))

You think they'll wait that long? Hasn't the V1 been discontinued already? Seems like a big hole is that's the case.

Was wondering if ms global publishing has a set budget? With Forza Horizon series and SOD now becoming first party does that free up money to make new partnerships? If it does than I'm really excited for the future.

Oooooh, good question. This could be an interesting development and a great way to pad out the lack of (announced) exclusives for this year and next (thinking current PC only games and whatnot; til Session is a console exclusive)

MS not going to be aquiring any studios for a while. They need to ship games from the studios they have just aquired and establish new relationships with independent studios like they did with Playground Games. Then maybe aquire them if they want to be bought.

I don't know about this 100%. From all the breakdowns and interviews it really seemed like the announce of five wasn't a big plan they had, but rather a realization that they could make a show out of it. MS was aware that the community knew os Santa Monica and heard about Playground, but few insiders mentioned Undead Labs, let alone Compulsion or Ninja Theory. They had a mic drop moment and they took it. I'm confident they have other (serious) talks happening that just haven't finalized as of yet.

Great interview from WC with Ybarra.

We saw Gears Tactics announced as a PC exclusive, however, I always see negative feedback about how Xbox is working on PC, particularly with UWP and the Microsoft Store. Are we going to start to see more investment in bringing PC gamers what they're asking for when it comes to the Microsoft Store on Windows 10?

It's a great question. We absolutely are focusing on it, and back with the reorganization last year, this is something we looked at. We're putting more people onto our PC side, and it's not taking away from console. Our investment in console is growing as well. We have multiple gaming teams at Xbox, one is PC and one is console, and those are equally important for us.

We are seeing growth on our PC space, from a store standpoint, including UWP. We absolutely are focused on addressing the biggest feedback points in an aggressive way. You'll see some announcements around those areas in the next three or four months.

for what they are saying about "one ecosystem" how does it make sense to put everything on xbox on PC but then make PC exclusives in genres that work on consoles?

ok so do we know why Cuphead DLC was labeled as ''console launch exclusive'' and Ori was ''Going to Xbox store'' only, not game pass?

*for the moment* it's easy to bring games to a system that fully supports their input method. Xbox currently doesn't fully support the main input method for PC. When this changes, I expect other games to go in both directions.

Maybe they didn't want to compromise their vision for a mouse & keyboard driven interface. Although when mouse & keyboard support finally comes to Xbox, I would expect/hope to see all those games ported, otherwise it would really make no sense for them to make such a one-sided commitment.

After being so impressed with MS E3 Conference and that they are remaining committed to their game pass, I decided to jump onto the Xbox One, especially the price I found it for from an ebay store.

Throw on a game pass for £1 for the first month and I'm not running out of games anytime soon.

and what better way to announce M&K support is coming than a *brand new game* in a 1st party franchise

I just rewatched the Halo Infinity and Gears trailer in 4k and they're spectacular. People aren't giving these games enough credit.

I know the big 4 games Sony showed looked phenomenal (especially Ghost of Tsushima) but I feel like Microsoft isnt getting any credit for Gears and Halo. The trailer for Halo is epic. If they maybe had direct gameplay to show people might have taken more notice. And I think the style and look of Gears detracts people from actually seeing the visual increase. Most brush it off cause it looks like more Gears but watching it in 4k, just WOW.

Man I'm excited for the future of the system.

Wait, people think MS should acquire Ready At Dawn, Obsidian and Platinum Games?

PGzX9ru.gif

Wouldn't it be better to create studios from the ground up and not just throw money around at studuios and hope some will pick them up?
What's wrong with Obsidian? They would make a ton of sense and would be a great purchase.

The smartest acquisition in my mind is obsidian. They have openly said they want a buyout. Their last 2 big games both scored 89/100 on meta. They are already at 170 staff so wouldn't need to spend much time growing. And they don't have any big ip's that would cost a lot to aquire.

Is it a drawback that they are located in Irvine ca. It's on the opposite side of LA from the initiative. And LA is really big so I don't see that as a problem. Maybe they want too much money? Seams like a no brainer. They are a instant AAA studio making rpgs. I would much rather have then than compulsion and undead combined.

Think There is some issues going on over at obsidian https://techraptor.net/content/chris-avellone-talks-departure-obsidian-entertainment

Doubt it. Sony is raking in money with PS+ So f anything it'll be them to do it but I just don't think it's worth it for either of them. Think they'll both go the route of building the best box available for $400 at the time and release it.

Exactly! If I may chime in, I think people to much in the power race. Sony will release a power competitive console. Xbox might have the most power, but big thing is even if the Nextbox is powerful,
Sony games and third party games will still look incredible. We are seeing that now.
