There is absolutely implications of that all the time though, not even just for RLM
I have been an ardent defender of that movie since release but it's absolutely been some weird pseudo poltical divide, where you see pro-TLJ articles on gamerghazi and shit. It happened with shit like La La Land vs Moonlight during Oscar season too and it's always embarassing
There are and its ridiculous when someone accuses someone of being a sexist or alt righter for disliking TLJ (Ive been accused of that here myself so I know there are people who do that). I'm just saying Shy wasn't calling them alt righters for disliking the movie so much as they push the same hot button topics the actual alt righters use to criticize that movie IE forced diversity, attacking SJWS, making sexist comments, etc. Which RLM do in fact do with a lot of topics, they take a lot of talking points you'll see on those crazy alt right videos when they criticize a movie for using asian actors in roles to appeal to the chinese market, or that its absurd that WW is a role model for young girls despite the fact RLM very clearly grew up idolizing star trek and other fictional characters themselves.
It isn't so frequent as to turn me completely off of their content, but it is stupid that they take some of these points because when it comes down to it I feel, at least for mike jay and jack, that theyre smarter than this. Like yes, movie studios appeal to their audiences, its a business, why is it such a big deal for you guys when they do it with asian actors who barely have any representation in the industry vs when they do it for everyone else? Its stuff like that which is what most of us are referring to when we criticize them for this, not just for disliking a movie. I also don't think theyve backed off of comments like that either even if they showed restraint in the ghostbusters review (which like, good job for meeting the bare minimum requirement there guys!)
