Oh man I'm reading reactions on the Sens subreddit and shit is *grim*. Watching a slim majority of those poor deluded hostages talk themselves into Boedker as being a decent middle 6 winger with 50 pt upside and dismiss what the Panthers gave up because they need "players" next year is sad.

I'm so glad for Melnyk/Dorion. As much as I hate MB, I'm glad these guys don't run my team. Sorry Sens fans, but my God this one's bad. The worse part is they shouldn't tank because they're probably giving up next year's first.

Speaking of Habs, I'm more than okay with them selecting Kotka, outside of a fear of playing Zadina many times (if he goes to Ott/Det). I'm not okay with Brady Tkachuk... didn't we just trade for a similar style player?

Wings need strong defense and have been pushed around in front of the net a ton. Opposing teams constantly leak behind the Wings' defense. Hughes is an offensive defenseman. Bob McKenzie talked to like 10 scouts and most of them said "he has no appreciation or element of defense in his game." No thanks.
I really like Hughes. Benning needs to get on a 6OA for 7OA + Gudbranson trade.

There was a giant possum sleeping in one of my neighbor's rain gutters last summer. I was walking home from work and it just glared at me then went back to sleep.

Possums are the worst, like demon babies with fur. I drove past one in Tennessee once and it slowly turned it's grotesque head at me and then the headlights of the car reflected in it's eyes like hellfire and I almost puked.

Raccoons are deceptively icky too, I've only seen a couple but they always looked dirtier than expected, like they had just rolled around in mud. Pull your shit together, you're representing your entire species walking down this riverside foot path!

Yeah... when I take my dog out they have had some stare downs for sure. And my dog is around 45 pounds but some of these fuckers are almost as big as him. (I am exaggerating a little but they are huge for the kind of animal they are)

Anyone could be a coyote, even Creeper

This is true. Can't trust that cat.

"The Ottawa Senators traded forward Mike Hoffman on Tuesday to San Jose, which is literally as far as they could send him in the NHL without paying someone $50 to throw him in the Pacific Ocean. They got back … well, does it matter? When you need to dump a body, it's hard to haggle too much over the price.

Of course, that argument was harder to make when San Jose traded Hoffman to Florida two hours later, and got back a better return than Ottawa did. It's impressive to lose two trades in one day, especially when you only made one."

US-GAF, y'all got any more human rights? No? Okay

How'd we go from Obama to abandoning allies and the UN in defense of Child Concentration Camps and admiration for a murderous dictator in just two really, really long years...

So now that weed is officially legal in Canada, I may have to take up smoking up to relieve myself from Sens-induced stress.

What would Dim Jim want for him? Pick #25+? Or a young player/prospect who is basically NHL ready? Kapanen+, Johnsson+, Brown+? Just a few examples

Fuck me I was reading this thread and listening to Mike Johnson on That's Hockey trying to semi-politely bury Dorion for not trading in division and I actually chuckled out loud at how incredibly bad the worst 5 GMs are (and throw the recently departed Snow in there). So bad it's tough to imagine how they could possibly still have jobs

Maybe I'll be able to take out my signed Stastny rookie points streak record plaque.

Fuck me. Benning has been so adamant about not trading Tanev that now it may be happening it probably means a) he's desperate b)he doesn't think Tanev is a good defenceman or c) they think Gudbranson is a good partner for Juolevi. I'm not sure what's worse.

Or maybe he's transforming into a good GM.
Hahahahaha

Like Samyy mentioned, Tanev's injury history will diminish his value significantly. Shame we didn't trade him a year ago since this season really solidified his reputation

For the record... my preference would be #25 but I don't think Dubas would do that. Preference is probably to wait it out and trade mid-season if the Leafs are truly struggling at D

His injury history would really scare me from giving up anything you suggested aside from Connor Brown

Yeah of those pieces Brown would be the easiest one for me to part with, I don't think he's gonna get much, if any better than what he is right now and he seems like a player other GMs might overrate a little. I'm not as high on Kapanen as some other leafs fans who make him out to be an almost untouchable core player, I'm really not sure if the high end talent is there for him to be any more than a Hagelin or Grabner type of forward in his prime. Would hate to part with Johnsson the most of the three actually, because I really do believe he could explode like a poor man's Yanni Gourde or Arvidsson next season.

I figured that most Canucks fans would prefer a package around a later first rounder instead of one of those wingers I mentioned. Though Dim Jim has always come across to me as a GM who is allergic acquiring additional draft picks and would opt to take the 22 to 24 year old NHL player who can make an immediate impact instead.

Correct. He's been saying the right things lately, though, so who knows.

Funny thing is he insisted he tried to get picks for Vanek but other teams refused. So I'm not sure if he's overvaluing picks vs prospects/projects or what.

I was just thinking.....who is up to the plate now as far as being Montreal's whipping boy? PK and AGally are both gone. Who gets the heat next?

If Pacioretty sticks around its obviously him. If he gets traded though....does Drouin come under the microscope?

Chayka on Galchenyuk: "we see the versatility of whether he plays centre or wing as a positive instead of a negative".

Oh burn.
