Were you seeking help from us? Or was your post intended to be helpful? The fact is that you got unlucky. I replied to you not to help you, but to let anyone else reading this exchange and considering MoviePass that you are not representative of them.
I don't love this company by the way. I've actually had to deal with their CS. I took them a month to respond. But for 95% everything works smoothly. For another 4%, it gets fixed and works smoothly (that's me).
I didn't expect help, but I sure as hell didn't expect someone to be callous enough to respond with "you just got unlucky".
Seems weird. Haven't had any problems at all there, all of the times have been accurate for me and I've used it probably 10+ times.I keep having the experience where I check the movie pass app, drive to the cinema, and the movie I wanted to see isn't even playing. I'm cancelling if it happens again. I barely have time to see a movie in the first place, much less make multiple trips to the cinema for no reason.

But so I understand, you pull up the app while at the theater and go to check in for a specific time but then the movie isn't playing at that time when you go to the theater?
Does it happen for every theater or one in particular? Is it a small theater or a chain like AMC or Regal?
Yeah, same boat. Ordered on the 15th and still no card. To make things worse, I've been getting emails saying that I have in fact actually received my card and that my account will be activated. I have to then click a link at the bottom of the email indicating that I have not in fact received the card. I contacted CS and they said it's possible it got lost in the mail and that they will send a new card.I ordered on August 15th. I still don't have a card.
Just last week the CS team said they would send out a new card. I'm not hopeful.
This company is shit.
They did not go back to the one movie policy; that was total misinformation. You can see the same movie as many times as you wantThe movie is in the app, I check in at the theater, then I go in to buy the ticket and it's just not showing. Happened twice at Regal and once at Entertainment. It's double annoying because yesterday I just left the theater and forgot to uncheck in, so now I don't even think I can see Killing of a Sacred Deer because they went back to the one movie policy.
If you have an Android, maybe try clearing the data instead.I had an issue when I tried to buy tickets for the whole family. I bought mine then signed in my wife then son and it wouldn't let me check in. I had to delete the app and reinstall each time and it worked.
I already have the Fandango app installed so I use that to double check movie times. The movie is in the app, I check in at the theater, then I go in to buy the ticket and it's just not showing. MoviePass gets its feeds from a third party every Thursday, but these may or may not be accurate. This is mostly out of their control. Always check with the theater before going there
There is only one way to use the service before you get your card, and that is if there is a theater in your area accepting "e-tickets". Unfortunately, those theaters are extremely rare, as they are ones that have specifically partnered up with MoviePass. For example, there aren't any in the San Francisco Bay Area, if not all of California. Can you not use the service via the app or something before you get the card? Daughter is coming home from college for Thanksgiving and I was gonna take her to see Justice League Thursday and was considering this, but no way the card gets here in 2 days.

On the app, theaters that support e-ticketing have an icon designating them so
https://www.sinemia.com/man I need something like this for IMAX screens... I'm spending TOO MUCH!
https://www.sinemia.com/
This is like MoviePass with IMAX and 3D support; but you're limited to 2/3 movies a month

Didn't know this was a thing, thanks. I'll have to seriously consider this as just 1 IMAX movie is like 19$ here
Damn, if only my IMAX theater wasn't so far from me. It's only $13 which is cheaper than the standard quality(14-16) in the theaters nearby.
Back up! What's this?? I've just been going to my local AMC. You're telling me I've been using this card wrong? Where are you seeing a universal studios trip for regal rewards members? My girlfriend and I had Moviepasses for a year and a half before cancelling in February after they increased the price from $40 to $45 and started adding restrictions. We're back now, for less than a quarter of what we were paying, and all of that BS is gone!
This service pays for itself with one ticket a month. My girlfriend and I have been seeing about 6 per month so far. We are saving up our Regal Rewards points for two tickets to Universal Studios, and we're only 15 movies away!
In the Regal App, go the the Spend Credits section, then click the 'Shop Online' button to see all their overpriced trinkets. In the 'Digital Rewards' section is a 60,000 point single day, two park pass, no black out date ticket to Universal. It includes entry to Universal Studios and Isles of Adventure! I get 2250 points per movie because I'm platinum status, so it's not even that hard to get.Back up! What's this?? I've just been going to my local AMC. It has be used and redeemed by Dec. 17th.

Yeah, MoviePass and Regal Rewards are really the best combo. We used to just spend our points on a free popcorn and soda every few visits and upgrade them both to large for a total of $3, but we saw the Universal ticket reward last week and have been super excited at paying $10/month to see a ton of movies and get a theme park ticket! We only live two hours away, so this is a no-brainer.Holy shit. I've been wasting my time with AMC and this is where the good stuff is.

So moviepass did something interesting today morning, they changed new signups to a new plan - $6.95/mo BUT you have to prepay for a year, plus a $6.95 "processing" fee or $90 upfront. Thats $90 they will get from you right then and there, vs the $10 in the past.
The optimist may say wow, they just improved the deal! Fantastic!
The realist/pessimist may say that this is the typical move of a business worried about cash flow and having enough cash to stay in business and doing weird moves like this to get as much money now to stave off shut down.
Hope I'm wrong but this is usually the first thing a business with a dodgy business plan does before shutting down. I certainly love MoviePass and have gotten a lot of value out of it but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but the most die hard of movie goers to pay up front $90 for a business that may disappear in a few months (weeks now?).
