Watching the full playthrough of Resident Evil 4 from the GT days. Huber talking about how he plays games at home and how it's a bit more tricky at the office.

Huber: "I have to squint to see"
Kyle: "You need glasses" Brad: "Get some glasses, dude"
Huber: "I know, I know. I will."

What was that? 2 years ago? Haha.

Longer. EZA has been going for over 2 years now!

Its Easy Allies. They did a 'trailer' already and wont do anything else lol. They dont do promo well sadly

I don't get it, I thought Easy Livin' was the promotion for Easy Allies as a whole

It is, but a trailer 2 months in advance is definitely very early. Its a good tease but it should be followed up with another trailer a few days before the actual Livin'

Ah, yeah, that would be cool. Or put an ad screen in at the end of all videos between now and then. When I saw that a stream mentioned ala Better Stuff for E3, I thought a stream to promote a stream was a little excessive lol.

Hey, how do you guys think they should market Easy Livin' in the weeks leading up to the event in order to attract viewers (a la Better Stuff Before E3)?

Hah, I really don't think it's complicated, but this has certainly never been their strong suit.

I think all they'd have to do is upload a video a day or two before they start with pertinent information (similar to the one they just uploaded), and then periodically post 10-15 second video reminders (these are as simple as filming a few of them on the couch and then just saying what games they are going to be playing next) on their Youtube when they start and then a few throughout the event. These can be deleted after the event is over, but it would be incredibly smart to periodically remind their likely 170k plus youtube subs that they are doing a marathon stream. Also, don't be afraid to use Twitter/Facebook/Friendster whatever to remind their audience. Last year it was positively bonkers how none of them posted about it during the event and the official account only posted a few times. All of them have thousands and thousands of followers (I'm sure a lot of crossover...) and they should make use of that.

Also, now that a Studio looks more likely than ever, I honestly don't think it would be a bad idea at all to have it be a fundraiser for the studio as well. I said it in the past, but it would be fun donating for the couch/monitors/desks/dog treats/whatever they need for a studio. Or they could raise money for a traditional charity as well, although I think it would be smarter to do that once they are in a Studio and more equipped to handle a stream like that.

Jones did say in that free cup that the next couple of goals they put up will likely be studio related.

I'm very curious as to how the studio will affect their work. It feels like I already watch/listen to way more of their stuff now than I did with GameTrailers.

I think you're giving them way too much credit.

Well think about it, what do they gain from these games?

It doesnt seem to sell very well, it doesnt have a small dedicated fanbase that brings in people buying ps4s just to have it, and it also doesnt get crazy great reviews from critics to bring a prestige to the playstation brand and its exclusives.

There recent outings of 1st party in exclusives seem to be hitting at least one of those boxes pretty hard. Personally it just seems off brand with Sonys exclusives in the past couple of years and at this point id be surprised if they really let david cage direct another triple A title funded by them

Yeah I saw that and that makes sense. I'm talking more of a fundraiser akin to the "Better Stuff for E3" one where they create a list of things they are hoping to have for the studio that isn't tied to Patreon. Things we'll likely see in each of their videos/shows.

I think they know this, but they should really create a stopgap goal of 50k on Patreon ASAP to stabilize the Patreon once this month ends. Fulfilling their quota of months (not criticizing this one bit) of being above their max goal with no tangible immediate rewards might be a hard sell for those who just joined. I think an easy one to add is a weekly multiple person long play stream. Maybe have Patrons vote on the game or something if they want that, but this just seems like a "simple" goal that will transfer over easily to the studio when it is ready.

I'm sure they will do this, but brainstorming the next "ultimate" goal is smart as well. While the momentum is probably likely to tail off sooner rather than later, it's always smart to dangle the next goody in front of us. I mean, their Patreon is up 14kish in the last 2 and a half months (!), while you want to be smart about this, you also want to ride this wave for as long as it will take them.

To add to the above: maybe they've cleaned it up recently but when I visited the "unofficial" Discord, it was quite toxic and I left pretty fast. I remember seeing a few people straight up sounding like they were from the GamerGate hashtag on Twitter.

Incredibly strange given what they're in a fan group for but some people just aren't very self aware.

Once they get into the studio and have shot satisfactory episodes of all their main shows there, they should make a new "Welcome to Easy Allies" video/trailer.

Yo, they're going to get 100 patrons in a day: they started today at 7377 and are now at 7466 patrons. Can't wait for those inevitable new 55k and 60k goals!

I think the words used to describe people that enjoy games with anime fanservice were way too strong and offensive but on the other side people got really defensive and used equally bad language to fight back. I wish things could've been debated in a civil manner but emotions flared and people lashed out, I don't agree with it but I understand why it happened. I think there were bad actors on both sides but I can say most of the people in the discord that were involved have expressed remorse and moved on. I also think the way we judge entire communities based on a few bad apples is unfair to the other members of those communities. We don't have to unconditionally love each other all the time but as long as we can respect each other I think we will continue to grow and become a stronger community.
I agree, people are too quick to generalize and sow hate. I had a pretty bad experience as soon as I entered the unofficial Discord, that doesn't mean there aren't decent people there. The same happens when people send Jones questions implying RestERA is full of douchebags, or when someone here throws shade at the EZA subreddit. No community is perfect and hating on each other serves no purpose.

A banner ad on their youtube channel for Easy Livin' in the weeks leading up to it would be a nice way to get the word out there I think. Sort of like the Ghibli stuff that is on their channel sometimes?

Do you know the video in which Huber does this?
It's the EZA podcast where they discuss the streaming restrictions around Persona 5. Don't know which exactly but it should be around March/April 2017. Or maybe search "Easy Allies Podcast Persona 5" since they put stuff in the description

Edit:

Or I can do it lol. It's at around 45:00

They seem to have heaps of momentum at the moment, it's great. Honestly the new gear is helping a lot I reckon, the E3 coverage looked so much better.

They need new goals to take advantage of the momentum, hopefully they are thinking in some at the moment or had some in mind beforehand.

Jones just confirmed on Cup of Jones that the first Top 10 / countdown is coming this month, they're meeting tomorrow to discuss and plan out what countdowns they're going to do. Mikey Jr.

Nice!

A 52k goal would be more useful no? To make sure hey stay over 50. An exciting new show only possible at the studio. New bosman show would be ideal ofc, but obvs we know kyle ain't up for it

Lol, too late for that now I guess, haha.

I would have argued against FF8... But you want it for the right reasons aha

FF8 is perfect material to riff on. Plus we got the FF7 full playthrough, might as well keep the train going.

But do you trust it?

Not yet.......

Gosh, I still don't want to get my hopes up, maybe there'll be a really rough dip, but it makes me so happy to see the Patreon at such a number. :')

EZA would be REALLY dumb not to capitalize on this momentum. They are really hot right now, and this could be a tipping point for them. Yeah, there will be a dip for sure. And it is hard to say if this is the new normal or if its just a temporary flash in the pan.

But I think this is the perfect opportunity to really push for the studio and what that would bring while they have a ton of eyes on them. Gotta get that long awaited studio vid up and running for sure.

I was unable to keep up with their expanded E3 coverage this year ourside of the coferance streams due to work were there any good Jones rants this year? Those are some of my favorite stuff when Jones goes off on bad presentations or events.

Check out the podcast they recorded during E3. I think there were a couple good rants in there.

Just watched the RE2 Akuma Game Sleuth and it was awesome. The interview at the end made my day.
