Trying to break that 350 barrier. Anyone want to do a Nightfall? I'm at the point where I don't know what to do next other than wait for reset.

Or, anyone doing a PvP train? Fair warning, I'm thoroughly mediocre.

Just know that a wipe sends you back to orbit.
That is only true if the modifier Extinguish is turned on. Extinguish and Match can be good negative modifiers to turn on for higher scores (not speed runs - where getting it done quick is the goal, not the score). Just make sure the entire team does not die at the same time, and every member of the fireteam needs a different energy weapon to deal with the matching shields (only the correct element will take down a shield).

People are baffled at how I'm always out of glimmer and the reason why is I keep building sets!

Warlock (my main):
  • Fighting Lion comp with Sanguine (7,0,7 w/ 2 arc rift mods & 2 arc melee mods)
I think I'll grab screenshots of all of these sets tonight to share! \o/

Im pretttty sure I know the answer but I'll ask anyway...

There's no item or way to just... skip the story for a secondary character right? I've already done this fucking campaign twice times on ps4 and I've since moved onto PC (looks nicer, runs nicer, all my friends are off destiny) and I've been plodding through as a Titan this time and am about 3/4 done.

But I don't like the titan. At all. I wanna hop back to Hunter but man... doing it... for the fourth time just isn't what I wanna do. With D1 there was a item Bungie gave out with TTK right?

IIRC there was an item that auto leveled you, yes. I *think* they've said there will be a way to just jump in with Forsaken but if they did it was in one of dozens of interviews and I can't recall specifically.

Edit: For clarification, the item ath auto leveled you was in TTK.

Le sigh. Figures. Well... I guess I'll stick it out with the titan until September and go from there. Or I'll cave and replay it all again with the Hunter.

They said there will similar item when Forsaken out.

Controversial Opinion time :

I like Destiny 2 subclass system, I like that each path offers unique gimmick/playstyle. Striker top tree is about zone control/AoE, bottom tree is about unlimited thunderpunching. Voidwalker top tree is about void explosion, bottom tree is about survivability. Dawnblade top tree is about aerial combat, bottom tree is about Super, etc. Though some subclass like Stormcaller or Sentinel feels too similar between the two path and there are several boring nodes.

The problem is they don't have any further customization option after you pick a path, it would be better (I think) if each of 4 nodes in a path offers multiple option you can pick. Take Phoenix Divefrom Dawnblade top tree for example, you can choose wether non-Super Phoenix Dive heals you or do damaging explosion. Or for Sunbreakers top tree, you can pick between ember explosion or the ability to shoulder charge as the Super secondary effect. Or for Striker bottom tree, you can choose wether melee kill heals you, or recharge your Super. Basically kinda a mix of D2 and D1 subclass system.

I'd be in for that. Or I'd really like to be able to very quickly switch between trees while in combat. Ideally I'd love to be able to switch subclasses in combat and bank up supers so I could unleash a bubble with captain America then dash out and smash with the striker then leap into the air and use the fire sword to mop up dudes only to land back in the bubble to recharge shields etc. That would probably break everything but it'd be cool.

The Spark of Light (or something very similar) in some form will return with Forsaken.

My hype for the new supers took a big hit when I realized they'll be tied to new subclass trees, meaning I won't get to use melting point with my big Hammer of Sol, or arc souls for my rifts while using my Warlock arc laser.

This system suuuuucks.

Fun crucible session, I was juking and jivin (as much as a 1 k/d solo queuer can!) with my swift ride. Had at least 1 crazy win (where we trailed huge all game, then somehow ended up winning by 1 point) too. Another game I felt like I PERSONALLY led the side to victory, which are always my favorites. Enjoyable.

I dont know when it happened but at some point I got where I just cant stomach "the meta" and I'll do practically anything to avoid it typically. Although sometimes I will also play it.

Swift Ride has always been pretty solid IMO. I wonder if headseeker is what's doing it. I also ran a CB mod this time. Worth it I think.

To go off meta reasonably, I kinda think you need anti. To give up both one of the meta primaries AND anti is really a tough ask IMO. So, energy slot primaries tend to be better. But to run some markedly inferior SMG like Heros Burden (arguably best of the rest, I know) AND giving up VW/GL, it's really a tough ask like I say.

Although I run Stochastic Variable if i'm running an energy smg lately. My club thumb ass just has a hard time aiming 900 SMG's, especially after anti. So I run Stochastic with phase change at 600 RPM.

But the paltry 15-16 meter range of all other smg's vs 22-24 for anti hurts.

Then I go for The Colony and spam that heavy! And I dont feel cheap because I'm giving up a lot!

Anyways very very close to double prestige. I think 20 points away or summin. 1 or 2 games.

That only boosted your level or something, right? Didn't affect story progression.

I'm kinda wondering is it necessary to do Warmind campaign on alts? Are you locked out of anything for not completing campaign? Using them to grind daily challenges on faction rally already got both to like 350 ish and level 29-30 without even trying. I'm guessing levelling would go extremely quickly from there.

Oh well I'm about to put the game away anyway.

- Once you hit max LL (with mods) on a character, every package you get from a vendor at that point should drop at max LL (without mods). I feel that as you've done the work to get to max LL, you shouldn't have to do milestones to level up all the other gear you want (or wait for unspecified times when vendors drop at max LL -- which is still a baffling design decision). It doesn't cheapen the grind, especially as they have made the grind longer. Plus, you would still need to put mods into them to get true max LL.

I haven't been 385 for long, but just doing crucible I've already gotten a fair few blue 380's to drop. Doesn't seem like you exactly need milestones.

Dont really see the problem. In fact I find it sort of fun to max out all my best/core gear. I mean much of it already is from the climb to 385 anyway.

I may end up doing some milestones tuesday anyway though, since in order to earn those 380 blues you'll have to be doing SOMETHING in the game anyway, whatever it may be (crucible, PE's, whatever). So it's probably a "might as well" type deal.

But crucible is just my enjoyment time in the game when the "work" is done, which since I'm 385 with a SOS completion, Graviton Lance masterwork etc, it is. The 380 blues drop are just additional.

Also I'm pretty sure you could watch the gunsmith, I have like 2300 weapon parts, if I understand correctly the LL on his engrams (and all vendors) changes every 30 minutes, via RNG, anywhere from 375-380. If I ever see he's dropping 380 engrams, I can spend a shitload of WP's for packages and max everything I could ever care too.

You need to complete it to get access to EP.

I 100% agree with you.

There was a vid though with a Stormcaller devouring a nade to create an arc buddy.

Not sure what all it entails or limits you to as I used it once on a PS4 character late in Destiny's lifespan (mainly a Xbox and PC player). Just know they are returning in some form with Forsaken.

I've ran through all the Destiny 2 campaigns seven times thus far (three characters each on Xbox and PC, one deleted character on PC). They aren't that bad of a slog and in the case of CoO they can provide some progression rewards/engrams as well.

Spark of Light in TTK only leveled the character to 40. It have no campaign completion credit. So a character would still need to do that stuff to have access to anything that's barred by campaign progress.

But we don't know if that's going to be the case with The Forsaken.

I don't think she has sold a single Warmind shader yet at least since I've been checking for the Buffer Overflow one over the last five weeks or so.

TIME FOR ANOTHER WEEK OF GRINDING BOYS N GHOULS
I'm excited, yet dreading it in some ways. I'm glad to go back to FWC (the best faction based off of lore), but I know by Sunday morning I'll be grumpy going back to the EDZ for another round of heroic public events and a lost sector with the Crimson (I'm not a huge fan of using the same gun over and over). I'll be switching over to Suros Regime, but its recovery doesn't happen often enough for how poor of a player I am. This time I'm going to use the armor (if I can get it to drop) to shorten my quest for the Sunshot catalyst. I have some relief knowing the fine folks of Gold ERA Warriors will help me out if I ask.

In how many hours does this dumb reset occur?

In 2.5 foolish hours.

The EP SMG is GODLY in PVP - don't sleep on it. I am not looking forward to faction rally; it's very stressful to get 50 in one week.

If you have reasons to still do the weekly Milestones on three characters that will net you around 450 faction tokens but then, yes, it becomes a bit grindy with the incredibly mundane PEs followed by a Lost Sector...rinse and repeat.

I did both Xbox (Sunshot) and PC (Graviton Lance) last time but I'm probably only going to bother with completing the Sunshot this time on PC. I honestly forgot about Faction Rally coming back this week, far too soon as it will become a super boring "event" again with it being the exact same thing.

Yeah - grinding for Sunshot was a total chore. I absolutely hated doing PEs and Lost sectors. I keep telling myself that it's only 2 more times haha.

I haven't used it much in PvP but I might for my new fun build.

It's an absolute monster. Truly.

You need 1000 tokens to hit 50 (20 * 50). If you average about 200 tokens a day you should be fine. The farm process is pretty boring but, it is what it is.

You can play other activities for some tokens as well (get your Raids done, work on milestones, etc)

So realistically how long does an efficient grind to faction level 50 take? I missed th last rally.
I was four days late to the last rally but I still managed to pull out a rank 50. Takes around 6-7 hours of doing the Lost Sector grind on Titan (+doing the daily on all three characters).

It speeds up exponentially when you get a full faction armor set.

Faction Rally/Bungie needs to take a page out of The Division's book and make them similar to Global Events that offer up different modifiers across a multitude of activities with each event.

This renown thing was an improvement (then again how could it not be as the old Faction Rally wasn't even an "event" in any way) but there needs to be more variety/modifiers moving forward.

Faction Rally is a pretty bad grind, imo. I'm not looking forward to getting to 50 again. I think it would help a lot if regular activities offered more tokens and it didn't just descend into grinding PE's and Lost Sectors for hours.

Not sure why they can't have a specific Faction Rally strike playlist with the renown mechanic built-in to it for like 11-15 tokens (dependent upon the amount of renown) per strike completion.

The whole waiting around thing for PEs is a huge deterrent for me.
