How does it compare to Lumines 2 on the PSP ?

I spent an incredible amount of hours on that one so I'm more than willing to buy this for the Switch.

I want the Electronic Symphony tracks as DLC. I'm enjoying this as someone that never played the original game before and only had ES but I need to be plucking feathers

Mechanically, it's the same. The main selling point of Lumines 2 was licensed tracks with music videos playing in the background from Gwen Stefani, Black Eyed Peaks, Beck, that sort of stuff.

Unlocked all but two songs on the PS4 version (the two that unlock for puzzle and mission mode). Placed in the top 5 scores for completing the challenge mode. Interesting to see how long that will last before the good players start showing up. There's about 4 or 5 songs in this game that aren't in the 360 version, which makes this worth owning. Only issue I have other than load times is that the down button in both the PS4 and Switch versions are very sensitive, which results in a lot of unwanted drops when shit gets hectic. I doubt it has anything to do with the controllers but rather the programming of the game.

Favorite skin is definitely this one. The music mixes so well with the sound of block spins/drops.

It has the playlist mode Lumines 2 added. Otherwise the only real difference is about 60 music tracks/skins that Lumines 2 has that Lumines 1 doesn't.

Oh, I beat challenge mode on my first try. Level 105 in 1 hour, 5 minutes. Guess I still have it. But damn, I gotta somehow shave off 10 minutes to get the trophy for beating it in under 55 minutes.

Holy crap, I unlocked a bunch of stuff. 6 avatar badges, 23 skins, 3 bonus skins, and Endless & Shuffle for Challenge. Also 5 trophies as well, damn.

Brought my Switch to work to play this since lame ass Nintendo didn't unlock it until noon.

It's as good as I remember on the PSP, the HD rumble on this is like... woah.

Only thing is that the Switch's d-pad feels noticeably inferior than the PSP's, I don't remember my left thumb hurting as much after playing the PSP version.

First time playing the game. I definitely have to unlearn some tetris and puyo instincts, because I keep building myself into terrible situations lol. I really like it though. The audio + physical feedback on the switch is incredible. I've only been able to get up to level 9 so far, but I'm sure I'll start to see the patterns soon.

I did notice a few flaws with the Switch version. When a lot of blocks are disappearing and falling into place, there is a bit of slowdown that occurs. I also had the game hang at a loading screen when trying to retry a mission mode puzzle. I thought my Switch locked up entirely and it kicked back in and loaded up after a couple of minutes.

Other than that, the Switch version is great.

Was puzzle mode part of the original? I don't recall it being a part of the 360 version or the Vita game. Either way, it's a neat mode to include & the difficulty is really ramping up, even on easy. Kind of wish there as an overlay to help make it a bit easier to see how tall or wide the shape has to be, but at least you got two images of it to help remind you how to make it.

Also, can you choose the CPU level or do you have to start at level 1 each time? & I have no idea how well I'm doing against the CPU, I just keep playing until it says I won.

It was part of the original. Due to download size issues on XBLA at the time, they had to split up Lumines into pieces. Puzzle mode was one of those pieces.

Wow It's been fun returning to this game from my PSP days. I plays buttery smooth. The load times make me feel like I'm playing a PS2 game though. They aren't too long but seeming to long for what this game is. After the abomination that was the 360 version , because of that horrible d pad, playing on the one has been crispy and responsive. I wonder how bit the market is for a new game in the series or if they will have a good dlc package?

All CPU stages cleared. I didn't have any issues until like stages 7, 8, & 9. A few of those stages took a few attempts, but the last stage only took me two. It was rather random as to how long the match would last. Some would take 2 minutes but I'd lose, others would take not even 30 seconds & I'd win.

But oh god, "win against the CPU without any retries"....does that mean I gotta beat all 10 stages without retrying a single damn time?

Not sure I'm playing this correctly. Maybe a should try the VS mode with a CPU instead. The score attack mode is maybe too aimless for me.

They need to let players use the analog stick to move blocks left and right. It's not very comfortable using the d-pad on the pro controller when you're also using the bumpers to rotate the blocks. I don't see any reason to not give us this option.

This is the first time since I played Lumines 1 that I've been as madly in love with Lumines. Its gorgeous, it sounds amazing and I forgot how much I missed it. *sheds a small tear and hugs his Switch*

Played for maybe 50 minutes at lunch before I had to purposefully fail so I could record my score.

Level 50, 186k. Still got it!

This game is the best.

Loving this on Switch.

The HD rumble really is awesome and the uprezzed skins look great.

After downloading, sat down for some Basic Challenge. 55mins later and I am done with the usual cramped fingers and dry eyeballs and my first mode 100%'d. Hello, old friend!

Keep this going with DLC tracks plz, I'll gladly spend some cash for a best of selection from past games.

My PSP eventually became a Lumines 1 machine. Vita eventually became the Electronic Symphony machine. One day my Switch will reside in valhalla as my Lumines Remastered machine.

Oh right - Lumines is extremely mentally draining.

Noticing some slowdown on a couple of the song transitions on PS4 Pro, and my score isn't uploading. Otherwise, it seems great.

e: either scores just take a few minutes to upload, or they upload along with trophy syncing.

How is resolution/framerate in portable mode?
I've noticed some slowdown when doing some big clears and during transitions which I wasn't expecting (why would it?), but it's nothing too horrible. Just takes you out of the experience a little bit.

Resolution seems native or higher/downsampled? Haven't really noticed, but it's definitely at least native.

It takes a little while to update. On PS3 it took nearly a day.

I don't "get" this game. Grabbed the Switch version today and played the XBLA one for a few minutes years ago. You just connect four squares together and that's it? I really want to like this but it hasn't clicked yet.

Just finished playing for a bit on the Switch version. The HD rumble was immediately impressive, makes me wish I owned 8 joycons for maximum synesthesia.
