The amount of vitriol Bernie receives around here never ceases to amaze me. And people of age it seems. You would have me fooled thinking these 3 actually support SHS's ideology.

I think it's totally fine to hate their stance on this and I'm with you on the civility bs, but yalls hate is rooted in something deeper.
Yeah I agree. In a world where 3 senators make similarly misguided calls to civility, of course we'll also have to make note that Bernie is still the worst one for reasons. Honestly, it's insane. It's almost comical: "Bernie doesn't care about this because he's rich". Give me a great.

I don't actually have a problem with Pelosi's statement, it's the right tone to take to not give folks like SHS the martyr material they crave, but Bernie and Schumer can both go fuck themselves with their "it's just politics" bullshit. They're doing nothing but contributing to lowering the bar as to what is acceptable to debate and placing vulnerable groups in danger.
The problem is Democrats are martyring SHS more than any Republican. Not by denying her at restaurants but by fawning over her at any slight she experiences and this goes far beyond the Red Hen issue. Dem's have some incredibly strong white knight complex over SHS - see Michelle Wolf.

You work for us. We don't work for you.

Ask not what you can do for your country... but what your country can do for you.

He's up for re-election in the second most white, second most rural state in the country.

You can take the old man out of Vermont, but you can't take the half-century of learned political habits coming from representing the second most white, second most rural state out of the old man.

I mean he was never the change he claimed to be.

Which for those keeping score is why I have always been harder on him

I just realized that almost everyone is in agreement. Is the party coming together? Is this 4th dimensional chess from the Democratic leadership!?!?

Schumer and Pelosi's statements were general ones.

Bernie Sanders explicitly spoke about the Red Hen owner and that she should have served Sarah Sanders.

So yes, that last one is a lot worse.

Nah, they can get lost with that tone-policing shit.

This party desperately needs new leadership.

Honestly the reason they say this is they don't want republican voters to do the same to democrats.

This thread is excellent for identifying posters that think we should really be talking more about the 2016 Democratic primary

Fuck them and fuck her. It's about time to start doing what the right did with the Tea Party - primary some of those comfortable centrist Democrats and get some Democratic Socialists in their place. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's decisive victory in New York yesterday demonstrates that there's an undercurrent of distrust in the establishment, and maybe some of them need the fear of losing their seats to actually find their fucking spines and start doing something to push back against Trump and his party.

Sanders is without a doubt an influential leader of the Democratic party now. You people can't fucking minimize him as you please, we already have people celebrating hard about Ocasio (rightfully) as a win for the progressives that Bernie is very much credited to leading.

New ticker here in Canada didn't even name her, it just said Sander's supporter wins in a NY Primary upset... not even kidding... but he's not a leader lol.

This sounds about right.

They also want to be able to dine out and not worry about being harassed.

Hence why there has been substantial support in and around DC for that idea both politically and in the media

And they can all fuck right off.

Fuck them.

It's time for the old guard to leave if they're unwilling to challenge this administration they're part of the problem.

Convenient

Legit Sanders is in the Senate, is up for re-election, is strongly considering a 2020 run and you know is positioned as a key Dem and a leader... but now all of a sudden he's not a party leader.

Are you ok? What a peculiar axe you have to grind. Quit living in the past! The 2016 Democratic primaries are long over. I already said I disagreed strongly with Sanders on this. I want congressional leaders who will stand up to Trump and his agenda, which is why I believe we need new faces.

Sanders will probably be re-elected as a senator from Vermont but that's about it. He's nowhere near as consequential as House and (possibly) senate majority leaders.

"I'm not a big fan of shouting people down or being rude to people..."

What?

Dude.

Bernie, that is literally the only reason any of us are interested in you at all. People see you as a borderline-violent revolutionary. Do you... do you see yourself as an unassuming philosopher or something? You're loud and you're obnoxious and you aren't afraid to stir shit up when you know you're right. No one in the world is interested in polite and quiet grandpa Bernie Sanders.

I mentioned 2020 and Sanders' current status. Only time I brought up 2016 is to highlight that he's gotten far more hard-line on coming down against "rudeness" than he had in the past.

I just think it's interesting that you called for 2/3 of the people to go away but came down with "I disagree with Sanders on this issue" and pretended that Sanders is just some senator from Vermont and not a major leader that people look up to and seek guidance from

Fair call from all of them imo. Hurling abuse at people you don't like, while I'm sure cathartic, is not now the Dems are going to take back control of American politics.

I agree with the sentiment that fucking monsters don't get to pretend to be normal joes when they go out to eat. I'd like to think of those interactions as engaging with the people.

BUT... escalation will bring out the nutcases. We already have more than enough fucking nutcases. And guns everywhere.

This kind of public shaming rhetoric might feel good, and it's entirely deserved, but where it leads is fucked.

Fascinating how much hatred you have for Sanders, that it's not enough that just about every post you've made involves complaining about him, you even have to complain about other posters not calling him out enough. It's beyond obnoxious.

Yeah because he's a major part of this story, and I think it is funny when anyone ignores him or gets way more mad at the other two... and i will point it out. Everytime.

the whole country is fucked anyway because of trump and his scum. So this is the start of fighting back than so be it. People need to take a stand and this is the way to do it.

what a bad week for Bernie. at this rate he'll be talking about the deficit and "access" to "affordable" health care within a week
This just seems like the Bernie that he always was.
