I kinda see the logic.

People want OW story mode to be centered around the actual Overwatch organization and their brushings with Talon, but a lot of the characters actually have no part on that narrative, Junkrat, Roadhoag, Symmetra, Orisa, Brigitte, D.Va, Zarya and now Hammond are not even tangentially linked to that narrative, while heroes like Zenyatta, Hanzo, Pharah and Bastion are just kind of related to it via ties to other characters.

Following this logic, people think the more characters they add that don't fit into the OW vs Talon narrative, the less likely a single player narrative can be built.
I'm pretty sure that that thought process should have flown out the window the moment that characters like Junkrat and Roadhog was announced.

Even if they aren't the nicest characters, I still don't think that it automatically means that they would go with Talon to face off against Overwatch.

That makes no sense though. Overwatch has always been bigger than the Overwatch organization. All those characters you listed have some relation to Overwatch in either the past or presumably the future. Irregardless of that, a single player mode, as we've seen with Archives, would obviously focus on a singular thing. Just because they broaden the character variety (which makes sense because we're talking about a whole world in conflict, not just the disbanded Overwatch) in the multiplayer mode doesn't mean a single player mode wouldn't be about Overwatch. And even if it wasn't, it could be about any of the numerous interesting pockets of the world they're fleshing out.

If anything, broadening the characters would make a single player mode more likely due to the amount of content they could pull from.

Ideally, an OW story mode would be divided in chapters following different group of characters and eventually converging.

Now we're one Junkertown hero away from a PVE event centered in Australia, they just need to set it on a time frame before Junkrat and Roadhog were kicked out and before Hammond left his time as the champion.

Gotta be honest, as cool as the OW v Talon stuff is, I give more of a fuck about what Zen's story is, or what the ins in outs of the whole Korean army employing D.va stuff to fight a giant robot lore are.

I feel bad everytime I kill the Hamster. I feel like I'm killing him in real life and the way he gets ejected out of his mech before exploding is just sad lol

I love how much Jeff Kaplan went out of his way to confirm that "he landed in Junkertown" and "Hammy is NOT a Junker"

Blizzard hasn't ruined Overwatch's lore yet. Hopefully they can keep it up.

With how mobile Hammond is and his weapon being hitscan, why do I even need soldier 76? Like where is he even going to be played lol.

Jeff confirms that even the Overwatch team was completely split on Hammond. Half being so into it and the other half saying that it would ruin the game.

Jeff (with the Overwatch team) is such a treasure. It's amazing that a game's developer can be so open with fans and talk about their process of making the game. I'm loving him on Seagull's stream right now.

Jeff just said there's actually 2 different voice actors, one for the hamster and one for the mech.

Lol the forums feel like a Coolsteele the Hedgehog meme... so many angsty teens who think he's not cool enough for their inner edge. Not enough smoking, scars, and missing ears for them.

Seagull told Jeff healers and mobility were too strong, and Jeff decided that was the last we'll ever hear from Brandon Larned.
